🌊 After Too Much Everything | 1 Hour Ocean Sound Bath for Overstimulation & Deep Rest

For when you've had just about enough of everything. Too many conversations. Too much noise. Too many decisions. Maybe nothing particularly bad even happened today. You've just spent so much time being available to everyone else that even your own thoughts are starting to feel loud. After Too Much Everything is a 1-hour ocean sound bath from Idiot Mystic, created for those evenings when you're exhausted, overstimulated, or simply tired of having to respond to things. We begin with a gentle, conversational meditation. We'll check in with the body, notice where we're holding tension, and spend a little time listening to the ocean without needing to do anything about it. After the guided introduction, I'll leave you alone with the waves. The rest of the hour combines real ocean sounds, warm evolving ambient music, and subtle binaural tones that gradually transition through alpha, theta, and delta frequencies. The soundscape slowly becomes quieter and less musically demanding as the hour continues, giving you somewhere comfortable to rest your attention. Use it after a long day, during sensory overload, while winding down for bed, or whenever you need a little distance from everything asking for your attention. 🎧 Headphones are recommended for the binaural audio, although the ocean and ambient music can be enjoyed through regular speakers. Binaural effects vary between listeners, and this recording isn't a medical treatment. If you fall asleep, that's fine. If you listen to the whole hour, that's fine too. You can be unavailable for a little while. Samhain & Soul Cakes: The Real History of Halloween

The man on the gallows has some advice about the knot. That’s where our history of Halloween begins. In this episode of Idiot Mystic, we explore Samhain, soul cakes, and the many traditions that helped shape Halloween. Our journey takes us through medieval Irish storytelling, church bells for the dead, ghosts at Welsh stiles, and elaborate attempts to discover who you’re going to marry. There are also turnip lanterns...which I think are considerably more unsettling than pumpkins. Across the Atlantic, we encounter Thanksgiving maskers, early trick-or-treat reports, community celebrations, and the persistent fear of poisoned candy. Drawing on historical accounts, folklore collections, and archival images, we examine how these customs changed, travelled, and acquired new meanings as well as where familiar stories about Halloween’s origins outrun the evidence. We end inside a house, with a fire still burning and a chair waiting beside the table. 💬 CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION...IF YOU FEEL LIKE Join us on Discord to discuss the episode, share your research, tell us about your own experiences, or suggest something strange we should investigate next. 🌧️ Study Tunnel | 1 Hour Deep Focus Music for Studying, Rain Sounds & Alpha Binaural Beats

This one is for doing the thing. An hour of deep focus music, steady rain sounds, and subtle 10 Hz alpha binaural beats for studying, reading, writing, working, or finally getting started on something you've been putting off. Study Tunnel is a 1-hour focus sound bath from Idiot Mystic, designed to sit quietly behind your attention while you concentrate. The first few minutes are guided. We'll figure out what you're actually trying to accomplish, make it a little less intimidating, and practice returning to the task when your mind inevitably wanders off to do something completely unrelated. Then I'll get out of your way. The rest of the hour combines real rainfall, warm ambient synthesizers, and a subtle alpha binaural layer. No percussion, distracting melodies, or interruptions. Just a steady atmosphere you can leave playing while you work. Perfect for studying, homework, reading, creative work, writing, coding, and quiet concentration. 🎧 Headphones recommended for the binaural audio. Regular speakers work perfectly well for enjoying the rain and ambient music. Binaural beats are included as a sound-design element; their effects on concentration vary between listeners. You don't have to wait until you feel focused to begin. Sometimes focus only shows up after you've started. And if you get distracted two hundred times, apparently this is going to be a very educational hour. Just come back. The Divine Feminine

Somewhere between ancient mysticism, feminine energy advice, and Instagram spirituality, the divine feminine has become surprisingly difficult to explain. I've been trying to understand for years what people are actually reaching for when they use those words. Because I suspect there's something much deeper underneath all the aesthetics, expectations, and modern interpretations. In this episode of Idiot Mystic, I explore the divine feminine through psychology, meditation, and the writings of Teresa of Ávila, particularly her beautiful image of the soul as an enormous castle filled with rooms we've never entered. We get into receptivity, intuition, boundaries, grief, creativity, and the expectations we place on women to be endlessly nurturing, accommodating, and emotionally available. And we explore how these qualities might belong to all of us, regardless of gender. I also reflect on what years of meditation, fatherhood, and learning from women who have been generous with their wisdom have taught me about listening, care, and the inner life. There's an enormous spiritual dimension to this conversation that I haven't even begun to explore properly. I hope this episode opens the door to returning to it. As always, thank you for spending some of your time here. IDIOT MYSTIC Available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and all major podcast platforms ( ewwww ). Go for a Walk

I've spent years studying psychology, teaching meditation, and working in professional sports, and somehow one of the most useful things I can recommend is going for a walk. I realize how disappointing that sounds. But there's something weird what happens when you stop sitting in the same room, thinking the same thoughts, and actually move through the world for a while. In this episode, I want to talk about walking as a spiritual practice. We get into why movement can change the way we experience anger, anxiety, grief, and overthinking, how walking affects the nervous system, and why human beings have been wandering around trying to figure themselves out for thousands of years. I also talk about walking in Abrahamic traditions, pilgrimage, Buddhist walking meditation, creativity, fatherhood, and why some of the best conversations happen when you're simply moving alongside somebody. And because I apparently have no sense of business, I also explain why you should occasionally turn off podcasts (including mine) and go walking without anything playing in your ears. You don't need ten thousand steps, a fitness tracker, a special breathing technique, or a spiritual breakthrough. Sometimes it's worth going outside simply because you've spent six hours staring at a screen and your body would probably appreciate remembering that the rest of the planet exists. If you've been feeling stuck in your head lately, this one's for you. Go for a walk. Welcome to Idiot Mystic.
