on today’s episode, we have an important discussion with the brilliant + ultra groovy jamie burcide, founder of ‘not so hospitable', a website accepting anonymous testimonials and helping to spread awareness and accountability within hospitality in south australia. We talk about the dark side of ‘working in hospo’, and all the factors that make it a sector notorious for workplace misconduct and harassment. jamie has undertaken grass roots research into this topic, has a wealth of experience in the industry, and sheds some important light on the realities of these deep rooted problems. ☆ ☆ ☆ TW: sexual harassment ☆ ☆ ☆ episode recorded on Kaurna land. show notes: Ben Shewry // Restauranteur https://linktr.ee/benshewry not so hospitable https://linktr.ee/notsohospitable jamie burcide https://linktr.ee/Jamiebucirde REACH OUT https://au.reachout.com/ 1800 RESPECT https://www.1800respect.org.au/ yarrow place // 1800 817 421 https://www.wchn.sa.gov.au/our-network/yarrow-place/yarrow-place-services

    04: unsolicited life advice

we’re in our early-mid 20’s, and life is starting to feel quite complicated.  responsibilities, friendships, relationships, careers, making decisions, and questioning them - it’s all a lot tbh.  sometimes, it feels like the only semblance of sanity and peace is that little motivational quote that we stuck to our mirror in year 10 or that infographic on instagram that reeks of wisdom and clarity.  in today’s ep, we pull apart these cliche words of wisdom, and judge (with all of our authority) their helpfulness.  disclaimer: the advice discussed in this episode is general in nature and does not apply to each unique situation. we cannot claim any responsibility for actions taken in response. we also acknowledge that the content of this episode should not be applied to situations involving abusive relationships or mental illness. please seek professional advice if this discussion causes you any concern.  episode recorded on Kaurna land.  ☆ ☆ show notes ☆ ☆  emotional female by yumiko kadota ikigai watch ted lasso on apple tv (do it) luna bloom asmr whatever will be, will be by doris day @yourdiagnonsese dopamine fasting (a far more informative article)
