When we continually detox from the distractions, our spiritual ears are open to hearing where God desires us to be.   Practical Tips: Focus on God. Pray for daily direction. The Distraction DETOX Step 3 Terminate the Toxins

In this episode, we are on Step 3 of the 5 steps of the Distraction DETOX: Terminate the Toxins. T: Terminate the Toxins This is the turning point. Once you've determined the distractions… And evaluated the barriers… You have to make a decision. Am I going to keep holding onto this? Or, am I ready to release it? Because these emotional toxins… They don't go away on their own. Termination means: You stop agreeing with the lies You release what you've been holding onto You surrender it to God  This is where you begin to hear Him more clearly. This is where trust starts to rebuild. This is where you get unstuck. Work on one at a time. Stop the toxic thought when it starts. Don't let it spiral to a place God never intended.             Deception vs. Truth                       Fear: Fear says what if. God says even if. (2 Timothy 1:7)                       Doubt: Doubt says I can't. God says I can. (Proverbs 3:5-6)             Shame/Guilt: Shame says I'm not worthy. God says I am His child.               Guilt says I am unforgivable. God says I am forgiven. (Romans 8:1) Let me ask you something… what would it look like to have a few days where the noise quiets… your mind clears… and you can actually hear from God again? That's exactly what the Distraction Detox Retreat is designed for. If your heart is craving that kind of space, I want you there. More information can be found HERE. Then send me an email at billie@billiejauss.com, and I'll walk you through the next step. I would love to meet you in that space. The Distraction DETOX Step 2 Evaluate the Emotional Barriers

This episode is Step 2 of the 5 steps of the Distraction DETOX, Evaluate the Emotional Barriers. E: Evaluate Your Emotional Barriers Now we go deeper. Because once you've identified the distraction… You have to evaluate what's underneath it. " Search me, God, and know my heart;     test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me,     and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24 What are these emotional barriers doing to you? Because these barriers don't just stay internal… They affect everything. Ask yourself these Questions: Where did they come from? Why are they still there? How do these toxins make you feel? Are they keeping you stuck or bringing you closer to God? Are they breaking you down or building you up? Are your thoughts taking you to places God never intended you to be? What opportunities are you missing out on that could be glorifying God?   If you're listening today and you're tired of the noise… tired of feeling distracted, overwhelmed, or just a little disconnected from God and your purpose, I want to personally invite you to the Distraction Detox Retreat. This isn't about adding more to your life. It's about creating space for what matters most. We're going to walk through how to clear the mental and emotional clutter, reconnect with God, and step into your next season with peace and clarity. In this episode of The Family Room, Billie Jauss gently uncovers what's really driving distraction. Because distraction isn't random, it's often rooted in deeper emotional and spiritual patterns. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in habits you can't seem to break, this conversation will help you move beyond surface-level fixes and begin understanding what's happening within your heart. 💛 What You'll Learn Why distraction isn't just a habit, it's a signal The emotional reasons you keep reaching for distraction How avoidance, numbness, and fear play a role What happens when you don't process what you're feeling How to begin responding with awareness instead of reaction 🔍 Key Takeaways Distraction isn't your problem; it's pointing to something deeper You're not failing, you're responding to something internal What you avoid doesn't disappear; it gets buried Awareness is the first step toward real freedom Slowing down is where clarity and healing begin 🧠 Reflection Questions Take a few minutes after listening and ask yourself: What do I tend to reach for when I feel overwhelmed? Connection Beyond Words: How Slowing Down and Listening Changes Relationships

What if the biggest barrier to deeper relationships isn't communication… but distraction? In this episode of The Family Room, I'm sharing a powerful experience from the Dominican Republic, sitting on a patio with women I didn't fully share a language with, yet somehow connecting in a way that felt deeper than words. This conversation will challenge the way you think about communication, connection, and what it really means to feel seen and heard. If you've been feeling disconnected in your marriage, friendships, or family relationships, this episode will help you slow down, become more present, and build meaningful connection, without needing the perfect words. We'll talk about: How slowing down creates a deeper emotional connection. Why listening is more powerful than having the right response. What a language barrier revealed about real communication. How distraction is quietly damaging your relationships. Simple ways to be more present with the people you love. You don't need better words to build stronger relationships; you need more presence. Who in your life needs to feel truly heard right now… and what would it look like to slow down and listen? If this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend or reach out. I'd love to hear what resonated with you.
