Sebastian Stan Confirms Harvey Dent In The Batman Part Two

Sebastian Stan confirmed he is playing Harvey Dent in The Batman Part II during a French press interview about Avengers: Doomsday. Set photos showing Christmas decorations and wintry dressing have people asking whether Mr. Freeze is next. I have been waiting on a straight answer about Harvey Dent for months and we finally got one from Sebastian Stan himself. He was doing press for a French outlet, mostly answering questions about Avengers: Doomsday, and he said he only receives the script in pieces and films it that way. Then he said the same thing is happening on The Batman Part II, where he plays Harvey Dent. That is the confirmation. No more rumor cycles, no more insider posts contradicting each other. On top of that, set photos are showing Christmas decorations, which points to the sequel taking place over the holidays, and the production has been posting wintry material that has me hoping for Mr. Freeze. He is one of the best villains in the rogues gallery and most casual fans still know him from Arnold Schwarzenegger. Mistborn's First Draft Is Done and the Director Hunt Is Next

Brandon Sanderson dropped a real progress report on the Apple deal, and the Mistborn movie just cleared its first big milestone. The Stormlight Archive series is locked at ten episodes, a producer is already picked for Mistborn, and the director search is the next domino. In this Cosmere check-in, we break down where both Apple adaptations actually stand. Sanderson has finished the first draft of the Mistborn screenplay, he is gathering notes, and he expects around three more revisions before it is done. A producer has been chosen but stays unannounced until the contracts close, which means the name likely surfaces in the Hollywood trades before it surfaces anywhere else. Director is the next hire and the one that matters most for how this film turns out. On the Stormlight side, the series is planned for ten episodes with the pilot as the first priority, Sanderson has not started that script yet, he will be working with writing partners, and he is serving as co-showrunner. We also get into the Salt Lake Tribune interview where Sanderson talks about holding James Gunn levels of creative control while openly admitting what he does not know and hiring people who do. Plus a realistic guess at release windows, why Apple's run of quality has earned some optimism, and an honest confession about a certain book series derailing an entire reading schedule. 0:00 Cosmere Check-In0:15 Mistborn First Draft Is Done0:22 Producer Picked, Director Next0:37 Sanderson's Control and Knowing What He Does Not Know0:52 Stormlight Ten Episodes and Pilot First1:05 Release Window Predictions1:10 Apple's Track Record After F11:22 Reading Update and Sign OffSource: GeekFreaksPodcast.com If this one helped you keep track of where the Cosmere adaptations stand, subscribe wherever you listen so you catch the next update. Nathan Fillion Takes Guy Gardner Into Mister Miracle

Nathan Fillion is bringing Guy Gardner to DC Studios' animated Mister Miracle, and showrunner Tom King says the character's over the top energy is exactly why it works. It is also one more piece of proof that James Gunn's promise about the DCU's animated and live action sides being one universe is holding. Fillion is the first voice actor officially announced for Mister Miracle, the adult animated series based on the Eisner winning 12 issue run by Tom King and Mitch Gerads. This is not Fillion's first trip through the Green Lantern Corps either, since he spent years voicing Hal Jordan across DC's animated films before Gunn cast him as Guy in live action. King, who serves as showrunner and executive producer on the series, told Entertainment Weekly that Guy's tone lands even in a very different show because that is simply who the character is. The bigger story is continuity. Rick Flag Sr. was voiced by Frank Grillo in Creature Commandos and played by Frank Grillo in Superman, and now Guy Gardner is jumping mediums with the same actor attached. Mister Miracle follows Scott Free and Big Barda trying to live quietly on Earth while Darkseid and the war between Apokolips and New Genesis close in, and King has already teased that the Darkseid casting will surprise people. Jim Carrey Is George Jetson and That Might Be the Whole Pitch

Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed a live-action The Jetsons movie starring Jim Carrey on its Q2 2026 earnings call, and Frank breaks down why the casting is doing all the heavy lifting so far. A Jetsons reboot on its own would be an easy shrug. The Flintstones already ran that play in the 90s. What makes this one different is that Carrey is in the middle of a genuine second wind, coming off the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and heading into a Grinch remake. Frank makes the case that Warner Bros. has the tools to do something stranger than a straight adaptation. Barbie proved the studio will greenlight a meta take on a legacy property, and The Jetsons is sitting on an obvious hook: the retro-futurist world the show promised in 1962 is not the future anyone actually got. Pull George Jetson into the real 2026 and let him ask where his flying car went while he stares at a Roomba. That is a movie with a reason to exist beyond nostalgia. The segment closes with a look at the rest of the earnings call, which mostly reaffirmed titles already on the books. Aegon's Conquest from the Game of Thrones universe, the next Matrix installment, and the next Batman film all sit on the same post-2027 slate as The Jetsons. Solo segment, no guest on this one. 0:00 Jim Carrey lands The Jetsons0:24 The Jim Carrey second wind, from Sonic to The Grinch0:40 What a Barbie-style meta approach could unlock0:58 Making a Jetsons movie worth watching1:11 Digging through the rest of the WB earnings callJim Carrey is attached to star in a live-action The Jetsons, presumably as George Jetson, confirmed on the Warner Bros. Kit Connor Is Marvel's New Cyclops and the X-Men Just Got a Lot Younger

Marvel Studios has found its Scott Summers. Deadline reports that Kit Connor is the pick for Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men reboot, with the decision landing last week between Marvel president Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier. Frank breaks down why this casting works and what it signals for the next era of the MCU. Connor is in the middle of a serious run right now, coming off Netflix's Heartstopper, Alex Garland's A24 war film Warfare, and the upcoming Elden Ring adaptation. Schreier, meanwhile, is coming straight off Thunderbolts, which earns him a lot of goodwill heading into a franchise this size. The bigger story is the shape of the roster. With Samara Weaving attached to Emma Frost and Sadie Sink revealed as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the picture forming here is a noticeably younger X-Men team than longtime fans are used to seeing on screen. Frank makes the case that this is a deliberate reset, not a compromise, and that casting the field captain this young means Marvel is building a team meant to grow over many years. Quick headline drop, strong opinion, and a full discussion coming on the next Geek Freaks Podcast. 0:00 Marvel Casts Its New Cyclops0:04 Why Kit Connor Is Everywhere Right Now0:16 Does He Look the Part as Scott Summers0:19 Feige and Jake Schreier Made the Call0:23 The Thunderbolts Factor0:31 A Younger X-Men Roster Comes Into Focus0:40 Your Turn on the CastingKit Connor is Marvel Studios' choice to play Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops, per a Deadline exclusive. The call was made last week by Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier after a casting process that ran through the summer.Schreier directed Thunderbolts, and that track record is a big reason confidence is high on this project.Connor's recent run includes Heartstopper on Netflix, A24's Warfare, and the Elden Ring film adaptation.Connor slots in alongside another Netflix breakout, with Sadie Sink already revealed as Jean Grey.Samara Weaving is attached to Emma Frost, so three mutants are now spoken for.The through line across all of it is age. This is a younger team than any live-action X-Men lineup we have seen, and it points toward a long runway for the franchise.Scott Summers first appeared in 1963's The X-Men #1 from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and has anchored the team as field leader ever since."We have our Cyclops." "Kit Connor's on fire right now." "Frankly, Kit looks like a perfect Scott Summers in my opinion." "Damn, Thunderbolts was good." "A much younger cast than maybe we're familiar with, and I think a sign for the future of the MCU." "No complaints on my side." What do you think about Kit Connor joining the team? Henry Cavill Confirms His Warhammer 40K Starring Role as Mike Flanagan Finishes the Outline

The Warhammer 40,000 live action series just went from "we assume" to confirmed. Henry Cavill has publicly stated he is starring in the Amazon MGM adaptation, not just executive producing it, and the character he is playing is staying under wraps for now. Alongside that, Mike Flanagan is on board writing, and per Games Workshop's own reporting, the outlines are finished and the project is moving into the scripting phase. Frank breaks down why Flanagan is a strong signal for the tone of this show. The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and Doctor Sleep are all dark, character driven work, and 40K lives or dies on whether it treats its grimdark setting as more than a backdrop for power armor. Flanagan has signed a multi-year deal with Amazon, so this is not a one and done gig. What is still unknown is the bigger question: which faction, which era, and which character. Frank shares a take from a friend in the space who is hoping for an Eisenhorn adaptation, putting an Inquisitor at the center rather than a Space Marine chapter, and opens the floor to listeners on whether that is the right entry point into the setting. 0:00 Warhammer 40K Follow Up From Yesterday0:02 Henry Cavill Confirms He Is Starring0:08 Mike Flanagan Joins as Writer0:12 Why Flanagan's Track Record Matters Here0:19 Outlines Done, Script Phase Next0:24 What We Still Do Not Know0:32 The Eisenhorn Theory and Your TakeHenry Cavill confirmed he is starring in the live action Warhammer 40,000 series, not just producing it.Cavill's character has not been revealed and is being kept secret for now.Mike Flanagan is attached to write, coming off The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and Doctor Sleep.Flanagan signed a multi-year deal with Amazon, so the commitment goes beyond a single project. The outlines are complete and the project is moving into scripting. No faction, era, or storyline has been announced, which is a massive open question in a setting this large.Fan speculation is leaning toward an Eisenhorn adaptation, centered on the Inquisitor from Dan Abnett's novels.Flanagan's strength in dark, character driven narrative lines up well with the tone 40K needs."Henry Cavill just confirmed that he is actually going to be starring in the live action series, which I think we all assumed, but now we have confirmation." "He also brought in Mike Flanagan to be writing it, and that's a very good sign." "We don't even know who Henry Cavill is actually playing, just that he is playing in it. He's not just the producer." "I pretty much trust anything Mike Flanagan's writing nowadays." Is Eisenhorn the right entry point for a live action 40K series, or should Amazon go straight to a Space Marine chapter? And is Flanagan the right writer for this universe? Drop your casting theories and faction picks in the comments, or send them in and we will read them on a future episode. Dave Bautista in Talks to Play Kratos as Amazon's God of War Recasts Its Lead

Amazon's God of War series is getting a new Kratos, and it might be the exact actor fans have been calling for since day one. On this quick-hit episode of Geek Freaks Headlines, Frank breaks down the report that Dave Bautista is in talks to replace Ryan Hurst as the God of War in Amazon MGM's live-action adaptation of the PlayStation franchise. The recast follows Ryan Hurst's on-set injury, a torn bicep suffered during a stunt that required surgery and a recovery window long enough to push Amazon and Sony toward finding a new lead rather than delaying the two-season production. Frank shares why he sees Bautista as a genuine upgrade for the role: the actor is already physically primed coming off his Highlander villain role, his pro-wrestling background makes the Spartan warrior's size an easy fit, and Frank has been a longtime fan of the guy across the board. Frank keeps plenty of respect in the room for Hurst while making the case that Bautista's build, screen presence, and existing relationship with Amazon line up almost perfectly with an older, grizzled Kratos. Nothing is signed yet, so this one stays in the "watch this space" column until the deal closes. 0:00 Dave Bautista in talks to replace Ryan Hurst as Kratos0:04 Why Frank calls this recast an upgrade0:11 The Highlander factor and Bautista's built-in bulk0:18 Respect for Ryan Hurst and the case for Bautista0:24 Deal not final yet, more to come0:28 Sign-offDave Bautista is in negotiations to play Kratos in Amazon's God of War series, stepping in for Ryan Hurst.Hurst exited the role after tearing his bicep in an on-set stunt, an injury serious enough to force a recast instead of a production delay.Bautista's wrestling career and physical frame make him a natural fit for the size and presence the role demands. He is coming off a physically demanding Highlander role, so the bulk is already there to carry over. The deal is not locked. Talks are ongoing, and Frank will share the confirmation the moment it lands."Personally, I think this is a bit of an upgrade.""He's coming off of Highlander, so he's already bulked up for a role. He could use that in God of War.""Ryan Hurst is great, I like Reiners, I just think Batiste is even better fit.""As soon as I know, I'll make sure to share it."If you want geek headlines like this in your feed every week, follow and subscribe to Geek Freaks Headlines on your podcast app of choice. Tom Holland Names His Spider-Man Successor, and It's Miles Morales

Tom Holland just said the quiet part out loud on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour, and it changes how we should think about the future of the MCU's web-slinger. Speaking to the AP, Holland confirmed that a plan to pass the baton is already in place, and it points to Miles Morales rather than another rebooted Peter Parker in the mold of Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield. In this episode of Geek Freaks Headlines, we break down exactly what Holland said, why he wants to mentor the next Spider-Man the way Robert Downey Jr. once mentored him, and what it means that he also wants to keep playing Peter Parker for as long as Marvel will have him. That combination sets up something the movies have never fully committed to before: an adult Peter Parker acting as a mentor and possible leader in the MCU, with Miles Morales stepping into the suit as the fresh face. We also get into the big fan question hanging over all of this. With Beyond the Spider-Verse wrapping the animated Spider-Verse trilogy, the door is opening for Miles to cross into live action. Could Avengers: Secret Wars be the moment he arrives? We make the case for why that timing fits. 0:00 Tom Holland Names Miles Morales as His Successor0:14 Holland Wants to Mentor the Next Spider-Man0:22 Holland's Full Quote on His Ambitions for the Character0:44 He Also Wants to Keep Playing Peter Parker0:58 What This Plan Means: An Adult Peter as Mentor and Leader1:14 Will Miles Debut in Secret Wars?Tom Holland says the plan to pass the Spider-Man mantle is already in place, and it leads to Miles Morales rather than a new teenage Peter Parker.Holland wants to shepherd the next actor into the role the same way Robert Downey Jr. guided him into the MCU.He also wants to keep playing Peter Parker as long as Marvel will have him, which opens the door to an adult Peter mentoring Miles on screen. This would break the pattern of recasting a younger Peter and repeating the high school years, which fans have seen twice already. With the animated Spider-Verse trilogy wrapping up, the path clears for Miles Morales to move into live action alongside Holland's Peter.Secret Wars is shaping up as a natural entry point for Miles, and it would be a fitting stage for his arrival.Tom Holland on his goal for the character: "I have a desire to bring Miles Morales to the screen and to shepherd whoever the lucky young kid is that gets that job, in the way that Robert Downey Jr. did for me. I think that would be a really awesome way to end my tenure as Spider-Man." Frank's take: "I personally feel like it's about damn time we get Miles Morales in live action." Do you think the MCU is ready for Miles Morales? Should Holland keep the suit while Miles suits up too, or is it time for a full handoff? And do you want to see Miles debut in Secret Wars?
