This podcast is always my horniest moment of the week!

I came here via the pit (Game of Roses) as I already love Lizzy & was excited about the shows they are recapping. I fell in love with Katherine as well. This podcast is like hanging out with friends talking about your fave shows. Screeeeeaming that you are recapping Gilmore Girls. My daughter & I watched the entire series together starting when she was 11 years old. She will be 18 & a Senior this year and the theme song is still my ring tone when she calls me. It was SUCH a precious bonding time for us & we continue to reference things from the show to this day.
Katherine is correct!

Lizzie, I love you, but when Katherine makes an observation and you say, “wait I thought it meant…” Katherine is usually right. She is more likely to go along with your opinion bc she’s too sweet, but she’s right 😬🙃 I hope you’re not offended by this call out! Love you guys and your friendship so much ❤️ P.S. You’re not dumb! Intelligence can be in different things 😘(written after listening to 5&6 lol)
Critical cultural awareness

Hi ladies! Hope you see this. First, I love listening to you both and can’t wait for new episodes to drop. Laxxer and pit dweller #4lyfe. That being said, I found your recap of S1E9 of Shogun pretty unsettling. Clearly, Shogun heavily features cultural contact, conflict, and difference, which is important to talk about regardless, but especially since this story takes place during a peak of European imperialism. So, I think it’s totally appropriate and good to also talk about this on your show. But, describing aspects of Japanese and Ancient Japanese culture using language like “cute,” “fascinating,” “everything is yoga,” or that you should “walking like that in your yoga pants,” makes a spectacle and novelty out of very real practices and people. You call out the violence of heteropatriarchy and colonialism, but approaching cultural difference of non-white people in the way you do communicates a white liberalism/white feminism that’s uncritical of its own positionality. It also has the potential to make your non-white listeners feel that the ladies who they love listening to are making/would make a spectacle out of their own way of life. Please consider this not a calling out, but a calling in. If you want to communicate love and inclusion in your podcast, liberalism isn’t enough. Please be critical of the space you take up and the words you say as well.
Love you both, just needs a little more prep!

I love this podcast and I love the relaxed and fun vibe of the show. I just really wish there was a little more effort put into preparation for the show. For instance, in the last episode, they realized half way through their notes were messed up and hadn’t watched part of the episode. Sometimes they don’t know the names of the characters or lookup basic background on scenes (e.g. the cultural significance of the tea ceremony in Shogun). I love how playful the show is but I think it could still have a fun, relaxed vibe while putting a bit more prep in so listeners can fully enjoy without the episode being disjointed or missing basic details. Love you ladies and can’t wait to listen to the next season.
