    The Potential of Mainstream Wearables in Decentralized Clinical Trials, with Rajiv Bhan

    In this interview with Carnegie New Leader Shreya Wadhwa, Rajiv Bhan, an industry leader in wearables, discusses his experience in health and technology, leveraging device telemetry to monitor users' health and wellness, and trying to maximize outcomes through behavior change. Bhan has worked across biotech, entertainment, and health and fitness, including with companies like Netflix, Fitbit, CVS Health, and most recently Tonal, where he serves as the vice president of software engineering and data science. He has helped design and analyze dozens of experiments to influence health outcomes in both clinical and non-clinical settings.

    In this conversation with Carnegie New Leader Shreya Wadhwa, Dr. Robert Klitzman, program director of the Master of Science in bioethics at Columbia University, focuses on the history of and role of patient consent in clinical trials, a topic he has explored thoroughly in his publications and books. Dr. Klitzman is also a professor of psychiatry at the Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Joseph Mailman School of Public Health. He co-founded and for five years co-directed the Columbia University Center for Bioethics, and directed the Ethics and Policy Core of the HIV Center for 10 years.

In fall 2022, she will add to that academic focus by beginning a research degree in "AI Ethics & Society" at Cambridge University in conjunction with the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence.

Yet, the promise of AI-driven healthcare is still alive. In this episode, Carnegie New Leader Geoff Schaefer explores these past challenges and future promises with Jessica Lamb and Liz Grennan of McKinsey. Liz Grennan is an expert associate partner in McKinsey Digital. She advises clients on a wide variety of risk, strategy and ethics issues related to data, AI/ML and technology. Previously at McKinsey, Grennan built and led the McKinsey Digital legal and risk teams globally. Jessica Lamb is a partner in McKinsey's healthcare and public sector practice. Since joining in 2008, she has served clients across the healthcare industry, including payors, providers, and health care services. Lamb's work has primarily been targeted at creating health care value and leveraging analytics to improve performance and outcomes.
