93: your home might not be too small - it might just be working against you (25 sqm condo transformation)

If your home constantly feels cluttered, cramped, or harder to live in than it should, your first thought might be: “I need more space.” But what if you don't? In this episode, I'm taking you inside Cozy Cove, a 25 sqm condo interior design project in Quezon City and my first full project after becoming a licensed interior designer. Before we started, my client described the space in three words: “Chaotic, undefined, dark.” There wasn't enough distinction between living, dining, sleeping, storage, and everyday routines. So the challenge wasn't simply making a small condo look bigger. It was making 25 square meters support three people's actual lives better. We talk about: why a small home can feel chaotic even when lack of square footage isn't the real problem what “defined spaces” actually means inside a 25 sqm condo how we created more storage without making the home feel heavier designing a proper living, dining, kitchen, laundry, sleeping, and study setup inside one small footprint how we brought more natural light into a previously dark kitchen why I used rounded edges, softer forms, and clear visual cues throughout Cozy Cove why calm isn't just a color palette the difference between making a small space look good and making everyday life easier inside it what happens during the messy middle of an interior design renovation what my client noticed after actually living in the finished home the moment James walked inside and called Cozy Cove the “best hotel ever” what this project taught me about designing an environment around the life someone is actually trying to live Because sometimes what you're craving when you say “I need a bigger home” isn't actually more square meters. You want somewhere for things to go. You want less friction. You want to stop constantly working around your own environment. You want your home to finally make sense for your life. That's what Cozy Cove became. 91: why your home feels overstimulating: visual clutter, calm spaces + interior design

If you've ever come home wanting to rest but somehow still feel visually overwhelmed, distracted, or unable to fully relax, this episode is for you. We're talking about why a beautiful home isn't automatically a calming home — and what designing two beach houses taught me about the difference between a space that looks good and one that actually feels good to live in. Because sometimes the issue isn't that your home is ugly or badly designed. There might simply be more happening in your environment than you realize. We talk about: visual clutter and environmental overstimulation why some spaces feel calmer than others what two beach houses taught me about designing for calm why aesthetic doesn't automatically mean comfortable harsh lighting, visual noise, softness, and breathing room why you might feel more relaxed in a café than at home the things we keep from older chapters of our lives what I noticed when I finally cleared years of my own school documents why I think Interior Design should consider how a space feels to live in — not only how it looks If your home technically looks fine but you've been thinking “bakit parang hindi ako relaxed dito?” this episode might change what you start noticing about your environment. 90: why your home feels “off”: clutter, identity + the psychology of your space

If you've ever looked around your home and thought: “Hindi naman pangit…so bakit parang may mali?” this episode is for you. We're talking about why a home can look completely fine but still feel off — and what your everyday behavior inside your space might be telling you. I take you inside an Interior Design consultation with a family who had slowly stopped using their own living room. Instead of immediately changing the furniture, we started asking a different question: Why doesn't anyone want to stay here? We talk about: why you naturally avoid certain rooms in your home clutter and the decisions hiding underneath it how furniture placement can affect how a room gets used why some beautiful spaces still feel emotionally flat what happens when you've changed but your home hasn't changed with you how your environment can reinforce habits, routines, and identity designing a home around how you actually want to live Because sometimes the question isn't: “What should I buy for this room?” It's: “Why isn't this room supporting the life I want to live?” And once you start looking at your home that way, Interior Design becomes about a lot more than making things look beautiful. 89: how I got my first interior design client after passing the board exam and oathtaking

You passed the Interior Design Board Exam and got your license. Now what? How do you get your first Interior Design client? How do you start finding projects? And what does “showing up as an Interior Designer” actually mean when you're newly licensed and still figuring everything out? In this episode, we're talking about what happens after IDLE and how I started getting Interior Design projects after becoming licensed. We talk about: how I got a project right after my oath-taking getting your first Interior Design clients starting without years of experience why visibility matters after the boards what “showing up” actually means building trust without a huge portfolio starting before you feel completely ready what your first projects teach you about practicing Interior Design finding clients who align with your approach how one project can create the next opportunity If you're wondering “ano na after boards?”, “how do I find my first client?” or “how do I actually start my Interior Design career?” — this one's for you. Because getting licensed opens the door. What you build after walking through it is a completely different part of becoming an Interior Designer. You passed the Interior Design Board Exam and finally became a licensed Interior Designer. Now what? After months of preparing for IDLE, suddenly the one goal you've been working toward is done — and a completely different set of questions starts showing up. Do you find a job? Start freelancing? Look for clients? Build your portfolio? And why can you have the license and still not completely feel like a “real” Interior Designer yet? In this episode, we're talking about life after the Interior Design Board Exam and what actually happened after I got my license. We talk about: what happens after passing IDLE starting your Interior Design career finding opportunities, clients, and projects why visibility and relationships matter my experience working at an Interior Design firm practicing independently as a licensed Interior Designer what actually built my confidence as an IDr choosing the kind of Interior Designer you want to become If you recently passed the Interior Designer Licensure Exam and you're excited, overwhelmed, or quietly wondering “ano na yung next?” — this episode is for you. The boards gave you one goal. Now you get to decide what you want to build after it. 87: what to do if you didn't pass the interior design board exam (from an IDLE retaker)

If you didn't pass the Interior Design Board Exam (IDLE) and you're wondering what you're supposed to do next, this episode is for you. I didn't pass on my first take either. And the hardest part wasn't only the result. It was everything my brain started making that result mean: Hindi ba ako magaling? Para sa akin ba talaga 'to? Kaya ko pa bang mag-take ulit? What will people think? In this episode, we're talking about the part of the Interior Design Licensure Exam journey that doesn't get discussed enough — what happens after you don't pass. We talk about: navigating the emotions after IDLE results board exam disappointment as a high achiever the self-doubt that can come after not passing separating what happened from what you think it means about you rebuilding confidence as an IDLE retaker figuring out what you actually want to do next what I wish someone had told me after my first take If you're currently questioning yourself, your timeline, or whether you still belong in Interior Design because of one board exam result, I made this one for you. You don't have to figure everything out today. Let's talk about what comes next. 86: what happens after passing the interior design board exam? your first year as a licensed interior designer

If you just passed the Interior Design Board Exam and you're wondering what happens next, this episode is for you. We're talking about what your first year as a licensed Interior Designer actually looks like — because getting your license doesn't suddenly mean you're supposed to know everything. For me, the first year was where Interior Design stopped being something I studied and started becoming something I practiced. We talk about: what to expect after passing the Interior Design Licensure Exam (IDLE) navigating your first year as a licensed Interior Designer understanding every phase of an Interior Design project working and communicating with clients, contractors, and suppliers handling mistakes and feedback without questioning whether you belong why feedback is data, not a verdict on your ability what new Interior Designers should document from every project why mentorship and asking questions matter building confidence through actual experience figuring out the kind of Interior Designer you want to become If you're thinking, “May license na ako…dapat alam ko na lahat,” this episode is your reminder that the license isn't proof that you're finished learning. It's permission to begin practicing. Your first year isn't about proving that you already deserve the title. It's about learning how you want to carry it.
