    MAGA Gets Schooled, Jack Smith Gets "Attacked", Trump’s Political Theater AND Midterm Shenanigans

    On this episode of The Vocal Minority with Nick and Steve... The guys start with Romanian comedian Victor Pătrășcan and his viral confrontation with MAGA, which opens up a larger conversation about how America and American politics are viewed by people outside the United States. The guys then break down Jack Smith’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Republican effort to slam him, including the embarrassing attempt to challenge Smith that fell apart after the Republicans got the sports teams completely wrong. Marjorie Taylor Greene provides facts for the MAGA crowd about what she witnessed inside the Trump administration when executive orders were being handled, including the internal ratings system and how some orders could be pushed forward simply to energize the MAGA base. The conversation moves to taxpayer funded political advertising promoting Donald Trump and the controversy surrounding Americans being forced to pay for political messaging from the president. The guys then turn to Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her welfare campaign commercial featuring a white child, which has apparently left some members of the MAGA movement angry that the ad is not racist enough. The supposed migrant caravan is back all over Fox News as the midterms get closer, raising questions about whether the recycled story is being used to scare voters and drive immigration fears during another election season. The conversation then moves to Brandon Herrera, his outrageous "online persona" and his Republican campaign in Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, along with Mike Johnson’s defense of Herrera and the argument that his online persona should be separated from the candidate. James Talarico’s attempt to get Ken Paxton into a debate gets attention as Talarico calls Paxton and leaves him a voicemail challenging him to debate on Fox News, leading to a discussion about why Paxton appears unwilling to face Talarico on the debate stage. Finally, the guys discuss John Fetterman’s apparent slip when he referred to himself as a lifelong Republican and what his increasingly complicated relationship with the Democratic Party says about where he stands politically.     On this episode of The Vocal Minority with Nick and Steve... The guys open the show with the story of a Michigan credit union CEO who was fired after using AI to alter a family photo during a trip to Canada, adding embarrassing Lake America sweatshirts and posting the image on social media with a message aimed at Canadians. Then the guys jump into the story of an American passenger who reportedly requested asylum while flying from Arizona to Canada, before turning to the growing danger of Flock cameras. A woman spent 13 days in jail after a Flock camera incorrectly identified her Dodge Durango as the vehicle involved in a deadly crash, despite her being nowhere near the scene. The guys talk about how quickly AI and surveillance technology are advancing and what happens when these systems get something very wrong. From there, the guys get into Trump’s ongoing fight with the press and his efforts to restrict White House press access, including the latest developments after a judge ordered press passes to be reinstated. The guys then talk about Donald Trump meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House, including Trump’s reaction to military jets flying overhead, the fake photo posted by the White House to make Trump look "stronger" and Trump showing Xi Jinping the autopen picture hanging in the White House.     9/11 Then and Now, Trumpapalooza, Sam Hodgson’s New Song and the Dangers of AI

    On this episode of The Vocal Minority with Nick and Steve... The guys start with a look back at 9/11, comparing the way that tragic day was remembered then with the way it was commemorated 25 years later. They talk about the ceremonies at Ground Zero, Donald Trump’s appearance at the Pentagon and the reported moment when Trump appeared to fall asleep while the names of the 9/11 victims were being read. From there, the guys look at the legacy of the enormous national security and counterterrorism apparatus created after 9/11 and how pieces of that machinery have increasingly been turned toward what the government describes as domestic threats, including immigration enforcement, ICE and other political and law enforcement efforts that use the language of “terrorism” and national security. From there the guys jump into Trumpapalooza, the Republican convention taking place in Texas, including Trump’s promise to give every adult $5,000 if Republicans win the midterms, his comments about James Talarico and his bizarre discussion about Talarico’s love of meat. And the moment when Trump had the audience pledge that they would get out and vote, even if they were not registered.
