Introducing Elder Brian Parris | A Life of Faith, Service, and Answering God's Call | Nova Scotia Men's Conference Episode 554 From a Troubled Past to a Life of Purpose – When God Calls, Everything Changes! Growing up in a Christian household, Brian was surrounded by prayer, church, and parents who worked hard to raise their children with strong values. However, despite his religious upbringing, Brian shares how he struggled with making poor choices, getting caught up in worldly temptations, and not truly understanding what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. But God had a greater plan for his life! In 1995, after attending church with his Aunt Ruth, Brian answered the call of Jesus Christ and surrendered his life to the Lord. That decision began an incredible journey of spiritual growth, ministry, and service to others. And folks, his journey didn't stop there! With a professional background in clinical social work, mental health, and addictions counseling, Elder Brian has dedicated much of his life to helping individuals and families overcome difficult circumstances. During our conversation, Brian shares how God opened doors for him to serve as a deacon, participate in prayer ministries, support struggling families, and work alongside organizations such as 902 Man Up, helping strengthen communities affected by violence, addiction, and other challenges. What really stood out to me was Brian's heart for people and his desire to help others physically, emotionally, and spiritually while pointing them toward the love of Jesus Christ. We also discuss the importance of prayer, being obedient to God's calling, building stronger families, mentoring others, and remembering that God's love and purpose extend to people from every background and walk of life.
