When Life Reroutes You the Hard Way

What happens when everything is going according to plan—and suddenly, it isn't? A young man's college dreams in another country unexpectedly fall apart, leaving his family shocked and wondering what comes next. And I recount the story of one of the worst days of my own life—a day when I walked away from a job, terrified I'd made a terrible mistake. Looking back, that decision swiftly led me toward a teaching career, meaningful relationships, and opportunities I never could have imagined at the time ...and is still having an  impact today. But how do we recognize the possibilities when we're still standing in the middle of something we didn't want? In this episode, we're talking about life's unexpected detours, the power of curiosity, and why a disappointing turn of events doesn't have to mean something has gone wrong. Sometimes the Honey doesn't become clear until much later. We don't have to see it immediately. We just have to leave room for the possibility that there's more to the story. Also in this episode: I share my Honey Reminder Digital Collection and invite listeners to send me a voicemail for a chance to receive the collection free. I'm also inviting listeners to join me for a conversation on a future episode! Visit: HoneyinEverything.com There is Honey in everything. Let's find yours. From Vision Loss to Sight Stones

What happens when one of life’s hardest moments becomes the beginning of something you never could have imagined? When Angela Ricketts’ five-year-old son was diagnosed with choroideremia (CHM), a rare progressive eye disease, her family’s world changed. What began with fear, uncertainty and questions about her son’s future eventually led Angela back to something she'd done as a little girl. In this episode of Where’s the Honey?, Angela joins Rebecca to talk about her family’s experience with progressive vision loss, the community they found along the way, and the creation of a movement that is helping to fund CHM research. It’s a beautiful example of something we talk about often here: Finding the Honey doesn’t mean pretending the hard thing isn’t hard.  The Honey is what grows from it. Angela’s story is about motherhood, hope, community, perspective—and turning an experience she never wanted into something that is now helping other people. 🍯 There is honey in everything. Access Denied: When a Closed Door Leads Somewhere Better

What do you do when something you've worked hard on suddenly hits a closed door? Rebecca spent hours creating a new Honey Reminder Digital Collection, upgrading her website, building the shop and getting everything ready—only to receive an unexpected message: Access denied. The payment processor rejected the application, the website upgrade couldn't simply be reversed, and for a while it looked like a lot of time, money and effort had gone in exactly the wrong direction. It would have been easy to stay angry and decide the whole thing was a disaster. Instead, Rebecca did something she's learned. She walked away. In this episode of Where's the Honey?, Rebecca shares a real-life example of what can happen when we stop feeding the story of what's going wrong, give ourselves some space, and come back willing to see possibilities we couldn't see before. What looked like a closed door turned out to be one small detour—and will ultimately lead to something even better. It's a reminder that Finding the Honey doesn't mean pretending you like what's happening. It simply means leaving enough room for the possibility that you don't know the whole story yet. Plus, Rebecca shares what's coming next for Where's the Honey?, including upcoming guests, the new Honey Reminder Digital Collection, Fan Mail and ways to support the show. Is Autism Awesometism?

In this episode of Where's the Honey?, Rebecca shares her personal experiences as the grandmother of a child on the autism spectrum and offers a spiritual perspective on what these extraordinary children may be teaching all of us. Rather than seeing autism only through the lens of difficulty, Rebecca explores the possibility that these souls are expanding our understanding of intelligence, communication, compassion, freedom, and what it truly means to be human. Through heartfelt stories, practical examples, and hopeful insights, she asks an important question: What if the honey isn't found by trying to make people fit our expectations—but by allowing them to show us a bigger picture? This episode explores topics such as: Looking beyond labelsThe hidden strengths within autismWhy freedom and understanding matterLearning to choose connection over controlDiscovering the honey in life's biggest challengesThis episode reflects Rebecca's personal spiritual perspective and experiences. When Your Mother-in-Law is Mean

What if the people who challenge us the most are actually helping us become who we came here to be?  In this episode of Where's the Honey?, Rebecca shares the surprising lessons she learned from years of navigating a difficult relationship with her former mother-in-law. Through honest stories, humor, and spiritual insight, she explores why life's "button pushers" may be some of our greatest teachers. Instead of asking, "Why is this person in my life?" Rebecca asks a different question: Where's the honey? You'll discover how difficult relationships can strengthen your boundaries, soften your heart, and reveal hidden wisdom you may never have found otherwise. Whether you're dealing with a challenging family member, coworker, friend, or anyone who regularly tests your patience, this episode offers a fresh perspective that can bring more peace—and maybe even appreciation—to those relationships. You'll learn: • Why difficult people often reveal our greatest opportunities for growth • To stop giving others access to your emotional buttons • Why everyone's behavior has a deeper story behind it • How changing your expectations before an interaction can change the outcome • How to find the "honey" hidden inside life's most challenging relationships Because even difficult people may have something sweet to teach us. When Hard Things Keep Happening

Do you sometimes feel like hard stuff keeps showing up in your life? Different situations. Different people. But somehow… that same feeling. After a while, it starts to feel personal. Like life is working against you. Like no matter what you do, you just can't catch a break. But what if these repeating experiences aren’t punishment? What if they’re part of life's feedback? In this episode of Where’s the Honey?, we explore how recurring challenges may actually be trying to show you something important—something you haven’t fully seen, understood, or healed yet. Inside this episode: Why painful patterns tend to repeatThe hidden purpose behind recurring life challengesHow to shift from frustration to curiosityA gentler, more empowering way to understand what keeps happeningThe hardest things in life are not there to break you. They’re there to wake you up to something deeper. And interestingly… the honey is hidden inside the pattern itself. So instead of asking, “Why does this keep happening to me?” Try asking: “What might this be trying to show me?” The honey isn’t in avoiding hard things. It’s in finally understanding them.
