Ep. 12 “You Can’t Stop Me… I’m Still in Motion”

Y’all… I almost didn’t record this episode. It’s 5 o’clock in the morning on a Tuesday, I normally record on Sundays and post on Mondays, but life has been LIFE-ING. And I realized something: I can’t only show up when life is good. I have to show up when it’s bad too. This week I’m getting REAL about what’s been happening with me. I’m losing vision again, I went back to the ER, and I may be facing my fourth brain surgery. I’m frustrated, anxious, and tired of feeling like I have to fight so hard to advocate for myself when I know my own body. I also have to hold MYSELF accountable. I’ve been using drinking and smoking to cope with everything going on, and I had to ask myself: How am I supposed to get better if I’m self-sabotaging myself at the same time? So I’m making some changes. I want to take care of myself, protect my mental health, get back into the things that make me feel GOOD, and learn how to be high off LIFE instead. 💕Boxing. Yoga. Pole dancing. My podcast. My goals. MY LIFE. Because no matter what gets thrown at me, I’m still here. I’m still moving. And I’m not giving up. Late is better than never. Bad days don’t mean the journey stops. You can’t stop me. I’m STILL in motion. Period. Clock it. 💯🎙️ 🎙️ Follow The Boss Talk with Akeema and Boss Up with me every week. 💕 Like, follow, share this episode with somebody who needs it, and remember: Good day or bad day… KEEP GOING.

Ep. 11 “My Reborn Life Is Just Getting Started”

Y’all, I really feel like I’m stepping into a whole NEW chapter of my life. 💕 And no, everything isn’t perfect—but things are MOVING. This week I’m checking in about everything that’s been going on. The money I’ve been speaking about finally started coming in, The Boss Talk hit over 10K views on YouTube, and even though I barely did anything with the podcast last week—zip, zilch, ZERO 😂—we’re still growing. Now it’s time for me to get back on my shit and do the work. But I’m also getting real about something I’ve been feeling lately: loneliness. My daughter is getting older, she’s in high school, she has her own life, and I’m realizing that one day my baby is really going to leave the nest. And that has me thinking about ME. What does the next chapter of Akeema’s life look like? I’m talking about my mental health, possibly facing another brain surgery, creating a new routine, getting my finances and budget together, making room for self-care, and learning that sometimes I have to take life one DAY or even one SECOND at a time. But one thing I know? It’s my time to be happy. I’m speaking love, peace, success, family and my soft girl era into existence. 😂💕 I’ve been through enough. This reborn life? Oh, baby… it’s about to be LIT. Whatever you’re going through, KEEP GOING. Life is going to life, but that doesn’t mean your story stops there. 🎙️ Follow The Boss Talk with Akeema so you don’t miss an episode. 💕 Like, follow, subscribe and SHARE this episode with somebody who needs to hear it. We’re speaking LIFE into ourselves over here. Period. Clock it. 💕🎙️

Ep. 10 “Parenting, Love & Speaking It Into Existence”

Y’all, this week we’re talking about PARENTING because whew… raising a teenager is NOT for the weak! 😭😂 My daughter is a freshman now, puberty is PUBERTY-ING, and sometimes I’m sitting here wondering what happened to my little bestie! But watching her grow up also has me thinking about motherhood, the kind of family I still want for myself, and what this next chapter of my life could look like. I’m also checking in about my own week, getting myself back on track, dating with intention, being abstinent, wanting marriage before I have another baby, and why I’m DONE settling for anything less than the love and family I actually want. And one thing I’m standing on: stop speaking negatively over your own life. I’m speaking love, happiness, growth, success AND money on the way! 😂💕 What I want for my life, I’m going to speak it, work toward it and believe it can happen. Because whether it’s parenting, relationships or just LIFE… we’re all figuring this shit out as we go. 😂 🎙️ If you laughed, related, or found yourself saying “Girl, ME TOO!” — don’t just listen and leave! FOLLOW The Boss Talk with Akeema so you can Boss Up with me every week. 💕 New episodes every Monday. 📲 Follow the show, share this episode with somebody who needs it, and come back next week because we got MORE to talk about! Ep. 8 “I May Crack, But I Won’t Break”

Y’all… these last two weeks have been A LOT. 😩 I didn’t drop an episode last week, but it wasn’t because I was slacking. I was going through some real-life shit and I made the decision to get help and admit myself into a psychiatric facility. Now when I tell y’all the experience was giving TWILIGHT ZONE?! 😭 I was lied on, moved to a higher-acuity floor, dealt with a situation where I didn’t feel protected, and at one point I was really sitting there like… what the hell did I get myself into?! But here’s the crazy part: I still got something positive out of it. I learned some things about myself. I learned new coping skills, got help with my medication management, and realized how badly I need structure and a routine in this new chapter of my life. And THAT is what this episode is really about. I may crack, but I won’t break. Sometimes getting help doesn’t look pretty. Sometimes life will knock you all the way down. But if I can find the + in the negative, I can keep going. We’re talking mental health, asking for help, compassion, healing, and what I’m doing next in this week’s Boss Up Plan. This one is personal, y’all. 💕 ⚠️ Content Warning: This episode discusses suicidal thoughts, a past suicide attempt, psychiatric hospitalization, sexual harassment, and mental health struggles. If you’re struggling or experiencing a mental health crisis in the U.S., call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. 🎙️ The Boss Talk with Akeema Real Life. Real Talk. Real YOU. Ep. 7 “ Look at how far we’ve come”

***Disclaimer*** I said “Nolan Wells” when I meant “ Carmelo Anthony”. I do apologize for the confusion, the people I may of offended and I also apologize to the families. ❤️ Y’all, this episode is a REAL conversation. There’s so much going on in the world right now, and sometimes it can feel like everything is getting worse. But I had to remind myself of something… Look how far we’ve already come. This week I’m talking about the economy, Black progress, the justice system, Tupac being WAY ahead of his time, some of the cases that changed the way I look at this country, and why I still believe we have so much more growing to do. I’m not ignoring the bad. I’m choosing not to let the bad make me forget the progress. Because one thing about me is I’m going to find the positive somewhere. 😂 And if you can find the positive even in the negative, you can’t be stopped. PERIOD. 💬 What part of this episode hit you the hardest? Let’s talk about it. 🎧 Episode 7 of The Boss Talk with Akeema is out now!
