    Broadway Block - Episode 229

    The New York Rangers sure picked the worst time of the season to start playing good hockey. Since the Olympic break, the team has just one regulation loss, earning points in 6 of their last 7, with back-to-back wins by four goal margins. While these wins haven't necessarily come against the league's best teams, they certainly aren't taking their lotto standings into consideration before the game. The dynamic line of Mika Zibanejad centering Gabe Perreault and Alexis Lafreniere has been white hot, recording 14 points in a 24 hour span, combining for 20 total points in their 4 games together. It serves as amazing benchmark for the potential the Rangers youth has in their system, and it doesn't hurt to have some fun hockey to watch, regardless of if it's too little too late. With a team comfortably outside of the playoff hunt, minus an unprecedented 19 game win streak, these last few weeks of the season can be extremely helpful for the organization moving forward to give them a better idea of who they are and what they have.     Broadway Block - Episode 228

    With just days leading up to the trade deadline, the Rangers receive blow after blow in what has been an absolutely miserable season. After finally getting Igor Shesterkin and Adam fox back from injury, JT Miller has been committed to IR and Fox in unsure about his future with the team. We unpack his initial comments, and the decision to double down on those statements even after being given an opportunity to spell it out to the fans whether he truly wants to stay here. As we near closer to Friday's deadline, it raises even more questions than simply "who will be here after this week?" or "what are we going to get back?.     Broadway Block - Episode 227

    With the NHL olympic break officially over, we anxiously look forward to Rangers hockey returning, even if the team is solidly out of a playoff picture. The final stretch for the Rangers leaves a lot of question marks, especially in the wake of team USA capturing gold for the first time in 46 years. We briefly touch on the excitement of the games themselves, and segue into how key piece of the puzzle Vincent Trocheck may have only elevated his value through his showing in Milan. A key cog for the Rangers, who was left off the USA roster may also make his return tonight. Adam Fox, a no doubt cornerstone to the franchise, can prove the haters wrong in the waining months of the season and help cement himself back into the conversation for one of the league's best defenders.     With a handful of games left in the Winter Olympics, the NHL season resuming signals one last important detail for the Rangers - the trade deadline. Once the deadline passes we'll have a proper idea of the intentions of Drury and the timeline in mind to get back to competitive hockey.     Broadway Block - Episode 225

    With the NHL season on pause, we enter not only the roster freeze but the Olympic break while the New York Rangers currently hold the 3rd best odds at the number one overall pick in the upcoming NHL entry draft. Outside of some luck to get the 1st pick, which I don't think many Rangers fans are confident they could actually secure some franchise altering talent, we chat in this episode about other teams in a similar position that may be worth chatting with to drum up a potential trade. The state of the upcoming UFA pool has been long discussed, and the Rangers brass needs to look elsewhere to improve this team if they wish to turn it around sooner.     Broadway Block - Episode 224

    The news finally dropped just as the clock struck 3pm this afternoon, signaling the NHL roster freeze is now in place. The bombshell that every Rangers fan had been anticipating all day, broken by Adam Schefter of all people, Artemi Panarin has officially been traded to the LA Kings for a underwhelming return. We dive in on this episode discussing the trade, which was spearheaded by Panarin's leverage in the situation, and why I would personally rather have a 20 year old prospect than a late 20s pick in the current retool climate. I'm just as sad to see him go as I knew I would be, but hopefully this is the first positive step towards brighter futures on Broadway.     Broadway Block - Episode 223

    "The Rangers Retool" has officially begun, and as predicted in last week's episode, it was done very shortly after the letter was released to the fans. In my opinion the return doesn't blow me out of the water, but Carson Soucy was a depreciating asset and not a part of the long term plan anyway, so it's nice to get some value for him. As for the next dominoes to fall? We've doubled down, and believe another trade will be made before we record next week. It's simply not smart to wait until the deadline proper and hold chips while the league is fully aware of your plan. Drury's best move would be to set the market and let people fight over scraps, rather than be a victim to it, or worse, keeping his hand and bluffing until it's too late.     Broadway Block - Episode 222

    With some time removed from the infamous Letter 2.0, we had some time to reflect on what the last 8 years has meant to the New York Rangers, and to us all, the fans. In this episode, we breakdown who out of the team truly represents "the core" and who makes up the list of players who can expect their time in blue to end shortly. The rest? It's pretty debatable. There's merit for some guys, as a handful of Rangers could surely net a fair return. There's also a list of players that would certainly do well with a change of scenery, but the overarching question is this: if this is a retool and not a full on rebuild like last time, how competitive can this team be in the next 18 months if it's gutted down to the studs in the coming weeks?
