    Send us Fan Mail Anxiety is a physical experience that is felt in the body, often without us even realising it. The clenched jaw. The tight throat. The heaviness in the chest. The knot in the stomach. The shoulders that have been raised. Research shows that anxiety activates the body's stress response, flooding it with cortisol and adrenaline and keeping the nervous system in a state of high alert. Over time, this creates chronic physical tension that we stop noticing because it has simply become the way our body feels. A body scan meditation works by systematically bringing gentle, compassionate attention to each part of the body, allowing the nervous system to recognise that it is safe, and to begin to release what it has been holding. Studies have shown that regular body scan practice significantly reduces anxiety, stress and depression, improves sleep quality, and lowers cortisol levels over time. This 12 minute body scan is specifically designed for anxious minds and bodies.
