Lecture 11 | Ishmael Mocking Isaac: The Battle Between the Flesh and the Spirit

In this podcast episode, Kushman argues that the battle between flesh and Spirit traces back to Eden, where the serpent’s deception introduced self-reliance and religious legalism in contrast to God’s finished work and promise. He illustrates the recurring conflict between works of the flesh and faith in God’s promise, insisting that righteousness and eternal life come by grace through faith alone in Christ. Kushman urges believers to walk in the Spirit, reject legalism and secret-knowledge religion, and rest in the assurance that Jesus has already completed salvation. Lecture 10 | Sherah

In this podcast episode, Kushman uses 1 Chronicles 7 to show how Ephraim's genealogy points to Christ, salvation, and spiritual preservation. He highlights his line, the loss of his sons, and Sherah building fortified cities as symbols of tragedy turning into an enduring legacy, then connects these themes to the Godhead, Christ's priesthood, and how believers are eternally secured in Christ. Kushman's message ends by emphasizing that Christ is the better priest and guarantor of the New Testament, and that God preserves His people forever. Lecture 9 | The Birth of the Church

In this podcast episode, Kushman shows how Jesus builds His one universal church on the revelation that He is the Christ, the Son of the living God, calling those into a new heavenly citizenship rather than a man-made religious system. He traces the start of the church on Pentecost, showing how the Holy Spirit united Jews, Samaritans, and Gentiles through faith in Christ. Kushman explains that baptism is being joined to Christ by the Spirit through faith, and that He is the head of the church and source of salvation and new life. Lecture 8 | Entering God’s Rest: The Lord of the Sabbath

In this podcast episode, Kushman frames the Sabbath not as a restrictive set of legalistic rituals, but as a divine gift designed for human restoration and a testament to God's continuous provision. He exposes how the Pharisees weaponized the law against Jesus’ disciples and a man with a withered hand, and how Jesus ultimately reasserted His authority as the Lord of the Sabbath. Kushman concludes that through faith in Christ, believers enter a permanent, daily rest where they cease from striving and rely entirely on the finished work of the Savior. Lecture 7 | When Religious Performance Replaces Obedient Faith

In this podcast episode, Kushman argues that obedient faith is more important than outward religious performance, using Saul’s disobedience in 1 Samuel as the main example. He explains how Saul repeatedly tried to justify himself with sacrifices, excuses, and public image while rejecting God’s word, and contrasts this with obedience shown through trust in God. Ultimately, Kushman teaches that obedience stems from faith in Christ’s perfect obedience and the work of the Holy Spirit, emphasizing that worship without submission to God is disobedience. Lecture 6 | The Mystery of Abraham’s Seven Lambs

In this podcast episode, Chakari unpacks Abraham’s seven ewe lambs as a covenant witness that establishes legal ownership and completeness, pointing to Jesus as the sin offering and fulfillment of God’s sanctification plan. He presents Jesus as the ultimate separated one, the true vine, and the perfect Lamb whose testimony establishes eternal life. Chakari emphasizes that salvation is entirely God’s finished work, confirmed by the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and calls those to receive Christ’s testimony with full assurance rather than relying on their own works. Lecture 5 | The Table Is a Sermon

In this podcast episode, Chakari explores Paul’s instructions to the church at Corinth about the Lord’s Supper, emphasizing that the communal meal is a spiritual act reflecting Christ’s sacrificial love and unity among believers. He explains Paul's rebuke to the Corinthians because their gatherings were marked by selfishness, class division, and humiliation of the poor, which contradicted the meaning of Jesus’ broken body and shed blood. Ultimately, Chakari stresses that true participation requires self-examination, recognizing both Christ’s sacrifice and the dignity of fellow believers, so that the table reflects the cross—where old divisions die, and a reconciled, loving fellowship flourishes. Lecture 4 | Christ’s Grace Ministered Unto Souls in Captivity

In this podcast episode, Chakari emphasizes that ministers of the gospel must embody patience, gentleness, humility, and wisdom, avoiding contentious arguments and instead teaching with grace and loving correction. He highlights the importance of recognizing opponents of the truth not as enemies but as spiritually trapped individuals needing help, stressing that conversion is ultimately the work of God’s grace, not human persuasion. Chakari covers the power of wholesome speech, the necessity of spiritual maturity, and the value of delivering the gospel thoughtfully, at the right time, and with love to build up the body of Christ rather than cause division. Lecture 3 | Romans 7 and the War Against Sin

In this podcast episode, Chakari dissects the internal conflict between humanity's desire for righteousness and the pervasive power of sin. He argues that freedom does not come through legalism or self-effort, but through dying to the law in Christ and serving God by the Spirit. The message culminates that deliverance and spiritual victory is found only in Jesus Christ, not in human attempts to obey the law. Lecture 2 | Surrender & Live

In this episode, Chakari shows that God often works through weakness, suffering, and humility rather than self-reliance. He emphasizes that resisting God’s word leads to ruin, while surrendering, trusting God, and accepting His discipline leads to life, grace, and eventual restoration. Chakari also connects personal struggles, temptation, and even self-inflicted trouble to God’s purpose of breaking pride and teaching believers to depend fully on Christ. Lecture 1 | The Difference Between Living Faith and Dead Faith

In this podcast episode, Chakari delves into the distinction between living and dead faith, drawing extensively from James 2. He emphasizes that true faith is inextricably linked to works and love, as exemplified by Abraham and Rahab. Conversely, dead faith is merely intellectual belief without corresponding action or genuine love, similar to the belief of demons. Chakari also explores the concept of working out salvation not as earning it but as cultivating a divine gift through the power of the Holy Spirit, which ultimately expresses itself in Christ-like love for others.
