    218. It's My 40th Birthday! Here's 40 Things I've Learned About Life In My 40 Years

What do you get when you combine 40 years of life, a whole lot of plot twists, some questionable amounts of tea, and a love of donkeys? In this episode, we're celebrating 40 years with 40 things learned along the way, from travel and comfort zones to friendships, rest, hobbies, embracing the cringe, and why you're absolutely allowed to change your mind about what you want. Some lessons are deep. Some are completely random. And some involve Colin the Caterpillar cake. But underneath all 40 is one big reminder: life is short, unpredictable, and yours to create. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why life rarely turns out exactly how you planned How travel can change your confidence and perspective Why gratitude matters, even on rubbish days Why stepping outside your comfort zone can create unexpected ripple effects Why you're allowed to change your mind about your future Why you don't have to monetise every hobby or passion Why rest shouldn't be something you earn How to embrace being a beginner Why the boring admin is part of making your dreams happen Why not every opinion deserves a seat in the director's chair How to make your own adventures instead of waiting for them Why embracing the cringe can lead to amazing things Why the outtakes and ordinary moments are worth remembering And why being alive is pretty magical And more! 217. Back To Your Future: Where We're Going, You Don't Need Limiting Beliefs

What if you could jump into a little red time machine and have a conversation with the version of you from five or ten years ago? In this episode, we're jumping into the Movify Mini and travelling backwards to meet your past self, before heading forwards to imagine a possible future version of you. Along the way, we'll explore the unexpected plot twists that have already shaped your life, the End of History Illusion, and why we might be underestimating just how much we're still capable of changing.  This isn't about predicting the future. It's about giving yourself permission to imagine what could be possible without needing to know every step along the way. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why your past self probably couldn't have predicted the life you're living now How to recognise the plot twists, people, experiences and challenges you never saw coming The things you've achieved that your past self would probably be amazed by Why we often underestimate how much we will continue to change What the End of History Illusion can teach us about imagining our future Why "realistic" thinking can sometimes put unnecessary limits on what we imagine How to challenge the belief that you already know what the rest of your story looks like Why your future self might be a completely different version of you How to imagine a possible future without treating it as a prediction How to have a conversation with your future self through journalling How looking backwards can give you evidence that you're capable of more than you currently believe And more! 216. Your Main Character Visualisation For The Epic Movified Version Of You

There's a bold, brave, more confident version of you waiting in the wings. The version who goes after what they want, stops playing small, and steps into the starring role of their own life. In this episode, we're taking a little trip inside Movify University with a special guided visualisation designed to help you meet that version of yourself. Through a cinematic meditation-style exercise, you'll imagine the epic, movified version of you who's already living with more courage, confidence, adventure, and playfulness. This is your chance to pause, close your eyes, and reconnect with the person you're becoming. So grab your headphones, find somewhere quiet, and get ready to meet the star of your life movie. What You'll Learn in This Episode: How to meet the boldest, most confident version of yourself through guided visualisation Why your Movie Star Alter Ego isn't someone else, but an amplified version of you How imagining your future self can help you reconnect with your courage, confidence, and ambition Why you don't need to force a particular image or get the visualisation "right" How to notice the details of your epic movified self, from how they look and move to how they behave Why stepping into your Main Character Energy means stopping the wait for permission How to imagine your biggest, most audacious dream as if it's already happening Why every bold choice you make is another scene in the movie of your life How to use your visualisation before a scary conversation, big decision, or leap into the unknown The four journalling prompts that can help you uncover clues about your next chapter How this exercise connects to the casting department inside Movify University And more! 215. The Coffee Cup That Proves You Can Be Anyone You Want To Be (Your Movie Star Alter Ego)

You don't need to become a completely different person to become a bolder version of yourself. Sometimes, you just need to give that version of you a name. In this episode, we dive into the idea of the Movie Star Alter Ego – an amplified version of yourself who is braver, more confident, more action-oriented, and less concerned with what everyone else thinks. From Beyoncé's Sasha Fierce and David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust to a very simple coffee shop experiment, this episode explores how stepping into another identity can help you do things your everyday self might be too scared to attempt. And yes, the coffee cup really is the point. Because when you walk into a coffee shop, give a stranger your alter ego's name, and hear it called out loud, something surprisingly powerful happens: you have physical proof that you can step into a different version of yourself – and absolutely nothing terrible happens. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What a Movie Star Alter Ego actually is – and why it isn't about being fake or inauthentic How creating a separate identity can make scary actions feel more manageable Why psychological distance can help reduce the pressure of trying something new Why your identity isn't a fixed label but a character arc The story behind Veronica Gilmore and the influences that shaped her personality How to choose the people or fictional characters who inspire your own alter ego Why giving your alter ego a name makes the idea much more tangible How a transformational item can become a physical cue for stepping into character Why your alter ego needs a theme song – and how you can even create one with AI How rituals, visualisation, and sensory cues can help you get into character The seven-step process for creating your own Movie Star Alter Ego Why the simple "coffee shop test" can challenge your fear of being exposed as an imposter How acting like your future self can help you collect evidence that you're already becoming that person Why confidence comes after action, not before it And more! 214. Why I Think Ted Lasso Should Be Prescribed on the NHS

Some TV shows are entertaining. Some make you laugh. And then there are the rare ones that genuinely make you feel a little more hopeful about humanity. In this episode, we're taking a deep dive into Ted Lasso and exploring why this brilliantly funny, warm-hearted show has so many lessons for real life. From being curious rather than judgmental and learning to "be a goldfish" to forgiveness, second chances, vulnerability, community, and becoming the best version of yourself, there's a surprising amount of personal development hiding inside a football comedy. Plus, we're looking at some of the show's most memorable characters and episodes, the magic of set-jetting in Richmond, and why Ted Lasso might just be the perfect prescription when you've temporarily lost faith in humanity. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why Ted Lasso is much more than a feel-good football comedy The powerful lesson behind "Be curious, not judgmental" How being a "goldfish" can help you stop dwelling on mistakes and embarrassing moments Why forgiveness and second chances are such important themes throughout the show What the Diamond Dogs teach us about friendship, vulnerability, and non-toxic masculinity Why therapy and talking about your feelings are portrayed as strengths rather than weaknesses Why being part of a team or community can give life a deeper sense of belonging How Ted Lasso uses music to create unforgettable cinematic moments Why visiting Richmond is the ultimate Ted Lasso set-jetting experience How the show embraces kindness, curiosity, forgiveness, and becoming the best version of yourself And more! 213. How I Turned a Trip to See Hamilton Into a Main Character Adventure

Sometimes the only thing standing between you and an incredible experience is waiting for someone else to come with you. In this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes of a very hot, slightly chaotic, completely unforgettable day in London to see Leslie Odom Jr. in Hamilton. What started as a solo theatre trip turned into a full-blown Main Character adventure – complete with a heatwave villain, cocktails, spontaneous conversations with strangers, a Ted Lasso connection, a very glamorous silver tray, a new travel mug, and plenty of tiny Magical Movie Moments along the way. More importantly, this day became an experiment in deliberately turning real life into a movie. From choosing a genre and soundtrack to imagining an audience rooting for you, this episode explores how a little intention can transform an ordinary day into a story you'll remember for years. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why you shouldn't wait for a co-star to do something you've always wanted to do How going somewhere alone can actually make your day more social Why imagining an audience that's rooting for you can help you overcome self-consciousness How choosing a genre and title can change the way you experience a day The power of giving yourself little "treat yourself" moments Why paying attention to tiny details can make an experience feel more cinematic How spontaneous conversations with strangers became some of the most memorable parts of the day What seeing Leslie Odom Jr. perform as Aaron Burr in Hamilton taught me about anticipation and shared excitement How souvenirs can become physical reminders of your favourite memories Why the unexpected "villains" and mishaps can actually make your story better How to create your own Main Character Adventure – even on a small budget And more! 212. Don't Miss Your Happiness Montage: Why the Small Moments Matter Most

We often think a movie-worthy life is made up of big adventures, life-changing milestones, and bucket-list moments. But what if the real magic is hiding in the scenes we'd usually edit out? In this episode, we're celebrating the tiny, unexpected moments that quietly make life richer – from hilarious village Facebook dramas and a local lamppost becoming headline news to dogs in convertibles, chance encounters, beautiful sunsets, and conversations that leave you laughing until you cry. These are the moments that don't always make social media, but they often become the memories we treasure most. If you've been racing through life waiting for the "big moments", this episode is your reminder that happiness isn't just found in the blockbuster scenes. It's woven into the everyday montage. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why a movie-worthy life isn't made up of extraordinary moments alone How noticing life's tiny joys can completely change your perspective Why humour, nostalgia, and unexpected moments often become our favourite memories The surprising happiness hidden in everyday community life How slowing down helps you appreciate the moments you'd normally overlook Why ordinary experiences are often more meaningful than Instagram-worthy highlights How creating a "Happiness Montage" can make everyday life feel more cinematic Why collecting joyful moments is more powerful than chasing constant excitement How small moments build a life that feels richer, warmer, and more meaningful And more! 211. The Secret to Better Ideas Isn't Working Harder (Why Slowing Down Could Speed Up Your Life)

We're often told that the answer to every problem is to work harder, stay busier, and keep pushing. In this episode, we challenge that belief and explore why some of life's biggest breakthroughs happen when we stop trying so hard. Inspired by a retreat, moments of quiet reflection, and the surprising science behind giving your brain space to wander, this conversation reveals why stepping away from your to-do list might be the most productive thing you do all week.
