The Power of Connection | Catherine Murnin

In this episode of the Effortless Attraction Podcast, I’m delighted to be joined by Catherine Murnin — an award-winning facilitator and coach, founder of the Well-Being Pathway, and author of Wisdom of Well-Being and her brand-new book, Pause for Conversations. Catherine has spent more than 20 years working in leadership and well-being, supporting people and organisations around the world through well-being programmes, facilitation and keynote speaking. But what really drew me to Catherine’s work is the way she brings well-being back to something so beautifully human — the conversations we have, the connections we make, and those moments when we simply stop and truly listen. In a world where we are constantly rushing, scrolling, achieving and moving on to the next thing, perhaps we need to rediscover the power of a pause. In our conversation, Catherine and I explore well-being, mental health, connection, the importance of meaningful conversations, and why taking time to pause can have such a profound impact on how we live and how we relate to others. We also talk about her new book, Pause for Conversations, and the inspiration behind it — a timely reminder that some of the most important moments in our lives can begin with simply being present and having a conversation. James Finnegan: “It Doesn’t Have Me” — The Power of Choosing How You Live

In this episode of The Effortless Attraction Podcast, I’m joined by the remarkable James Finnegan , a husband, father, grandfather, storyteller, performer, speaker and man who has lived a truly extraordinary life. James grew up in London above the pub his Irish parents owned, describing it as his “university of life”. Eventually, love brought him back to Ireland, where he has spent years giving his time and energy to charities, including DEBRA Ireland and Tralee Irish Soup Kitchen. His journey has also taken him into the worlds of UEFA and FIFA, Toastmasters — where he is currently Uk and Ireland (District 71 ) Toastmaster of the Year. He is also the Co-Curator of TEDxTralee. But James’s greatest story is perhaps the one he is living right now. After years of physical challenges, including a ruptured Achilles tendon, multiple operations and embolisms affecting his heart and lungs, James began experiencing multiple mini-strokes in 2024. In 2025, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Yet his response is powerful: “I have Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s doesn’t have me.” James refuses to allow a diagnosis to define who he is or what he can still achieve. After his diagnosis, he completed an abseil from Croke Park and has walked for 1,000 days to raise money for charity from January 2021 to 2023. This is a conversation about resilience, courage, purpose, giving back and choosing how we respond when life changes in ways we never expected. James will also be speaking at TEDxBangor in County Down this year. The Mindset Behind Lasting Change with Lynda Duffy

Today’s guest, Lynda Duffy, has lived a life filled with remarkable chapters. Crowned Miss Ireland in 2002, Lynda went on to represent Ireland at Miss World before building a successful career in international recruitment across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, working on major development projects. Behind the success, however, was a deeply personal struggle. Lynda has spoken openly about living with an eating disorder for more than two decades. After experiencing the life-changing impact of Rapid Transformational Therapy herself, she retrained as a Rapid Transformational Therapist and now helps people create lasting change by working with the subconscious mind. In this conversation we explore: * How the conscious and subconscious mind really work * Why we repeat unwanted habits and behaviours * Anxiety, overthinking and people-pleasing * Building self-esteem and confidence * Why lasting change begins from within * The importance of commitment if you truly want your life to change Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply curious about how your mind works, this conversation offers practical insights and hope for creating lasting transformation. Two-Time Author Catherine Farren: From Self-Doubt to Self-Belief

A year after her first appearance on the podcast, I’m delighted to welcome back writer, poet and published author Catherine Farren. Catherine’s first poetry collection, Retreat and Breathe, touched the hearts of many through its honesty, compassion and deep understanding of the human experience. Now she returns with her second book, Retreat, Breathe and Rise Again, a powerful collection inspired by life’s challenges, healing, resilience and hope. In this conversation, we explore the personal growth Catherine has experienced since publishing her first book. We talk about moving beyond imposter syndrome, finding the confidence to share your work with the world, changing old narratives, and becoming the person you need to be in order to step into new opportunities. Catherine openly shares her journey from shying away from promoting her writing to embracing her voice as an author, while continuing to create from a place of authenticity and lived experience. We also discuss grief, self-worth, renewal and the possibility of rising again after life’s most difficult moments. Not one to stand still creatively, Catherine is already working on her third poetry collection as well as a screenplay. Cancer. Grief. Transplant. Parkinson’s … And still she lives - Nic Russell

In today’s episode of the Effortless Attraction Podcast, I am joined by the incredible Nic Russell. Originally from County Down in the North of Ireland, Nic is now a Kiwi by choice, having lived in Auckland, New Zealand for almost 30 years. Nic’s story is one that will truly stay with you. In 2005, while undergoing treatment for breast cancer herself, her three-year-old daughter Kenzie was also in treatment. Tragically, Kenzie passed away that same year. In the years that followed, Nic faced further life-changing challenges, including heart failure which led to a heart transplant, and a diagnosis of Parkinson’s. And yet, when you meet Nic, what you feel is not defeat. You feel strength. You feel gratitude. You feel humour. You feel a woman who continues to live. She swims in the sea, walks along the beachfront, and lives each day doing what her body allows with appreciation. Through her son Connor, who she absolutely adores, Nic recognised that there was very little support available for children dealing with grief. From that, she created something extraordinary. Nic is the founder of Kenzie’s Gift, a charity set up in her daughter’s memory, now supporting thousands of families across New Zealand navigating serious illness and loss. Her first memoir, Bollix, is due for release in 2026, and I have no doubt it will touch so many lives. This conversation is real, emotional, and deeply inspiring. It is about death, but also about how we choose to live in spite of it. Even in the week we recorded this, Nic’s beloved dog Billy of 15 years had died, and still she showed up with warmth, honesty, and that same beautiful spirit. She truly is a woman worth listening to, following, and sharing. You’ll find all of Nic’s social media links below, so please do connect with her and support the incredible work she is doing. ⸻ If you are enjoying the Effortless Attraction Podcast, I would be so grateful for your support. Your Body Remembers: Understanding Pain, Energy, Trauma, and Healing with Paddy Morrison

Your Body Remembers Everything | Paddy Morrison | Effortless Attraction Podcast In this episode of the Effortless Attraction Podcast, Evelyn McAleer is joined by Paddy Morrison, founder of Morrliving Limited, based in Coleraine, County Derry. After more than twenty years working as a chartered accountant, Paddy took a powerful leap of faith at the age of forty and retrained as a Neuro-Muscular Therapist. Since then he has studied many approaches to understanding the body and how pain presents itself. In this conversation we explore a fascinating concept: the body holds a memory of everything we have experienced in our lives. What we often see as physical pain may actually be the body communicating deeper emotional or energetic patterns that have been stored over time. Evelyn has also experienced Paddy’s work first-hand while he has been here in Spain and would have no hesitation in recommending his work. This is a powerful discussion about the body, healing and learning to listen to the signals our body gives us. She Lost Two Children… and Returned for a Reason with Martina Crudden

This episode of Effortless Attraction is unlike any other. My guest, Martina Crudden, shares a story that is almost impossible to comprehend — yet she speaks with such strength, grace and purpose. Martina buried two of her children, one in 2009 and another in 2011. The depth of grief a parent experiences is beyond words — and to endure it twice is something very few could imagine. But her journey did not end there. In 2015, Martina herself died and experienced what she describes as a near-death experience — an out-of-body awareness that brought her a powerful message: there was more for her to do. She was shown that her life still had purpose. That she was here to help humanity. This conversation is raw, honest and deeply moving. Since those life-altering experiences, Martina has gone on to work in various healing modalities. She speaks in schools, supports families, and is involved with numerous organisations, using her story to bring light into some of the darkest places. If you are walking through grief, bereavement or loss, this episode may bring you hope. The pain of losing a child is something no parent should ever face — yet Martina’s story shows that even in unimaginable sorrow, purpose and meaning can still emerge. You will not find many podcasts that hold this much life, loss, death, awakening and service within a single conversation. If you would like to connect with Martina, her details are included below. Thank you, as always, for listening to Effortless Attraction. I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you.
