Everyone Is Extraordinary

Ruby Gray

I'm Ruby, I'm 22 and I live in London. I graduated from Cambridge last year and have been working in TV production since. I'm taking time off work to go on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage across France and Spain (the full Camino Frances). I will be walking 800 km as a female solo traveller, completely untrained (in fact with a hip injury). This journey has been a dream of mine since I was 15, when I read The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho. From the practical, emotional, historical and spiritual, to the deep connections (and blisters) I’m expecting to make, you will hear it all. Buen camino!

WALKING A MARATHON ON THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO PLOG

Walking My Way: DAYS 10 & 11: Grañon to Villafranca Montes de Oca to Burgos What a lovely two days, including some of the mentally toughest walking bits! When you've been at it for 8 hours already and have many kilometres left before you've completed your first marathon... your mind does interesting things. I also discuss my ineptness with physical touch at the end of the episode, enjoy me squirming for two minutes straight :D I'm Ruby, I'm 22 and I live in London. I graduated from Cambridge last year and have been working in TV production since. I'm taking time off work to go on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage across France and Spain (I’m doing the full Camino Frances). I will be walking 800 km as a female solo traveller, completely untrained (in fact with a hip injury). This journey has been a dream of mine since I was 15, when I read The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho. I wouldn’t say I’m religious, but I do have some sort of relationship with spirituality, which I am hoping to explore on this trip. Stay tuned for an episode for every day of my journey, which I will be walking for over a month. From the practical, emotional, historical and spiritual, to the deep connections (and blisters) I’m expecting to make, you will hear it all. Buen camino! GETTING GRUMPY ON THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO AND SNORERS

Walking My Way: DAY 8: Logroño to Nájera I was grumpy today for reasons partially disclosed on this podcast episode hehehe... but I got all my friends together in the evening to discuss what we had learnt today before we did some yoga. Did not discuss the fact that Thomas cooked us an incredible smoked salmon pasta thing which I still dream about... I do not understand how heavy snorers have the balls to stay in big dorm rooms like I would be so embarrassed ?? Enjoy audio evidence of what we've been put through every night lols... thankfully I'm half deaf and cannot hear a thing with earplugs in... I'm Ruby, I'm 22 and I live in London. WHAT IM PACKING (2.2 KILOGRAMS ONLY) FOR A MONTH WALKING THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO (ULTRALIGHT PACKING)

Walking My Way: ULTRALIGHT 2.2KG What I'm Packing For the Camino Santiago Hello! Here is a guide from someone who has never been on a pilgrimage before but knows a thing or two about ultralight packing. Through the years I have refined and refined again my ultralight packing to the bare essentials of what I need, and I'm very excited to have managed to get this down to 2.2 kg. I will be walking 25 km every day on average so every last gram will make a difference! My biggest tips: - Be a psychopath and weigh everything, you will be surprised at what comes out light and heavy - Anything you think 'I could always buy that in a shop once I'm there if push came to shove,' don't pack it, you will rarely if ever regret this. Do not pack that spare pair of underpants - Multifunctional things / thinking of ways to make something smaller have the same function = gold dust Timestamps: 00:52 Bag 02:14 Shoes 04:40 Weigh Things! 05:18 Coats / Outerwear 06:15 Hiking Clothes 10:00 Towel 11:00 Toiletries 12:35 Glasses Case / Sleeping Essentials 13:28 First Aid / Medicine Cabinet / Microphones 14:40 Tech / Chargers 16:33 My Bag Weighs 2.2 kg !! LIVE MUSIC ALONG THE CAMINO (Camino de Santiago daily plog DAY 5: Puente La Reina to Estella)

Walking My Way: DAY 5: Puente La Reina to Estella: Camino de Santiago What a glorious thing when people dare to share their musical gifts with others. What a gift to the world when I decide to follow this by bashing Oasis's Wonderwall on the poor little guitar... For the sake of my embarrassment and your enjoyment I have left in Wonderwall (Ruby's Version), feel free to leave me a hate comment for good press x Incredible Stefan's music: https://open.spotify.com/track/4ABQujFSWrqwrNci0dfHJZ?si=OLlwHl8VQdmNEMhGO45cbw Incredible Stefan's instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mr.smiden?igsh=MWIxM2J4Mms0YzdqdA== I'm Ruby, I'm 22 and I live in London.
