Man on a Mission to Restore Bio Diversity w/ Dr. Faiyaz Ahmad Khudsar | EP 11

Today we are in conversation with Dr. Faiyaz Ahmad Khudsar a passionate scientist who has led an amazing team to restore acres of sodic land into flourishing bio diverse forest within Delhi-NCR.  This is a feat that noone has been able to accomplish in the whole world and as I promised, here are the details of all parks:  1) The Yamuna Biodiversity Park (YBP) located near the Wazirabad village, on the banks of Yamuna River, is one of the best nature reserves in Delhi. It is spread across 457 acres. 2) Aravalli Biodiversity Park, for a really long time, has been working towards multiplying the number of medicinal plants which are otherwise threatened. There are more than 240 species of medicinal plants inside the park. 3) Neela Hauz Biodiversity Park: The transformation that Neela Hauz received is nothing short of a miracle. Looking at the giant garbage dumb, who would have thought that this was, once upon a time, a lake where all the excess water from the neighbouring forest was collected, and eventually supplied drinking water to a large population in South Delhi? 4) Tilpath Valley Biodiversity Park: The park is spread over an area of 69.56 ha on the Southern Ridge, and meets the Aravalli ranges of Haryana. The park is connected with Asola-Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary and Aravallis in Haryana. 5) Kamla Nehru Ridge is also known as the Northern Ridge. It is spread across a total area of 122.00 ha. It is located near Delhi University's north Campus. 6) Tughlaqabad Biodiversity Park: The park has four major wetlands areas that clean up the groundwater. The forest in and around Tughlaqabad Biodiversity Park plays an important role in conserving the underground water as well as the native plants and animal species. 7) Kalindi Biodiversity Park: The park was added to the list in 2015, making it the youngest addition. Kalindi Biodiversity Park is home to the Yamuna floodplains, an extremely important area of conservation. There is so much to learn when you visit these places, hope some of you actually take the time out to go and appreciate what Dr. Khudsar has done and may be meet him in person and tell him that you heard the podcast and came to see him :)  Join our telegram listeners community here: https://t.me/movingforests For brand collaborations and opportunities, send us an email at: movingforestsindia@gmail.com Follow Moving Forests and send us your feedback in a DM : Instagram: https://instagram.com/movingforests.in?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/movingforests Twitter: https://twitter.com/movingforests?s=21&t=V6TQ79xHnFYVXogrOEY-LQ

Landfills to Lifelines: Reshaping Waste Management w/ Bharati Chaturvedi | EP 09

Today we are in conversation with Bharati Chaturvedi, a passionate advocate for environmental issues and gender equality, she embarked on a remarkable journey shaped by her deep connection with the natural world.  It was her growing awareness of the double burden of inequity and pollution borne by the marginalized, particularly women and children, that led her to action. Her love for India's beautiful wilderness coalesced with her commitment to address newer environmental challenges. This dedication gave birth to Chintan, an organization renowned for its work on waste and air pollution with a focus on people at its core. Bharati's academic journey, marked by a Masters in Modern Indian History and a Masters in International Public Policy, equipped her with the tools to drive change. She emphasizes the importance of data-driven arguments and ethical decision-making in addressing complex issues. The creation of Chintan itself was a testament to Bharati's determination. Despite living half the time abroad, she forged ahead, driven by her belief in the causes she championed.  Today, she encourages others to take practical steps to make an impact, emphasising the value of education, skill-building, and collaboration and this podcast is where we discuss some of these topics in detail, so indulge away..
