BONUS SESSION: How Therapists Show Up On Social Media

Today's show is a little different than our normal content. First of all, Maggie was unable to join for today's recording, and instead we were able to have our first guest appearance! Dr. Jessica Rabon is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in pediatric psychology. Her clinical interests include depression, anxiety, chronic medical illnesses, LGBTQ+ health, and eating disorders. She has published a number of peer-reviewed research papers and a book on topics such as suicide, depression, anxiety, self-compassion, gratitude, and forgiveness. Additionally, Jess creates mental health content on TikTok and Instagram and hosts two podcasts, Psych Talk and Welcome to Group Therapy, with the goal of making mental health more accessible and relatable, and destigmatizing mental health.  In this episode, Leeor and Jess talk about the recent Washington Post Article which stated that therapists request consentfrom their clients to use their session content in their social media. After the article was released, The View included one of Leeor's videos (without consent or warning) in their segment on this topic, insinuating that Leeor was one of the therapists that does this. Leeor very seriously explains that she does not and has never done something like this, and that The View's representation of her is extremely damaging and unwarranted. Leeor and Jess explain how they use their own life experiences as well as general experiences are used to create their content. Jess and Leeor have an open and honest conversation about their thoughts on all of this, and the role of ethics on therapist's social media. Overall, Leeor was unfairly misrepresented and wanted to explain her frustration with being grouped into this narrative. If you're looking to find jess, check out her socials below! Session 8: Where We’ve Been (The Tea)

We were MIA and now we're BACK BABY! We missed you guys so much and couldn't wait to get back together again, and give you guys an explanation of where we went. This session is mostly about the updates in our lives that caused this brief intermission, and then we're back to our regularly scheduled sessions.  In this session, we cover: What Maggie has been up to for the past few months. Talking about your therapist's maternity leave and what that would look like for you. How being therapists in private practice impacts us financially and clinically when taking maternity leave. Leeor's miraculous healing journey with her stomach and how years of struggling ended after a 2 week course of antibiotics. A bit about health anxiety and fighting through the urges of leaning into it.  We always welcome feedback and want to hear about your interpretation of the episode! What did you like? What did we miss? What would you like to hear more of? Your therapist being away on maternity leave, or being the therapist leaving on maternity leave is hard! If you’d like to share a story with us, we’d love to hear it. As always, thank you for being here! We are eternally grateful!
