From Swim Instructor to Vice Principal: Meet Mr. Kreite (10/5/26)

What if the person giving you advice about high school has already been a swim instructor, teacher, restaurant owner, career counselor, surfer, snowboarder—and vice principal? Meet Mr. Kreite. On Maestro Monday, the 11th-grade vice principal sits down with the Zebra Morning Show to talk about the winding path that eventually brought him to New Brunswick High School. His career didn't begin with a plan to become an administrator. His first teaching experience came as a swim instructor, which helped plant the idea of education. He studied environmental science at Rutgers University and NJIT, developed an interest in history, taught at multiple schools, coached swimming, and eventually stepped away from education to own a small restaurant in Red Bank for about seven years. When he returned to education, his experience as an employer became especially valuable. He worked with students entering or reentering the job market and eventually spent years helping high school students prepare for careers, college, university, and other paths. Now, as an 11th-grade vice principal, Mr. Kreite has a message specifically for juniors: pay attention to your credits and grades now. Senior year comes quickly, and students who fall behind early may spend their senior year trying to catch up instead of enjoying the opportunities that come with it. He also encourages students to take career aptitude assessments and start thinking about what comes after high school. And after all that advice, his final message for the sign outside the school is remarkably simple: Be kind. Kindness is all that matters. ----- Submit a shout out: https://forms.gle/xUhbEC2WU92pewSi9 Send us a voicemail: https://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/shoutout Connect with the Zebra Podcast Network X: https://twitter.com/zebrapodcastnet Instagram: https://instagram.com/zebrapodcastnet TikTok: https://tiktok.com/zebrapodcastnet YouTube: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/youtube Twitch: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/twitch Website: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com

Good Grades, New Phones & Dunkin (10/2/26)

What's your win of the week? That's the question driving this Feel Good Friday episode of the Zebra Morning Show. Julennia starts things off with a simple but meaningful win: her grades are getting better, and she's turning in all her work. For a student balancing school and activities, getting back on track is something worth celebrating. Alexis has a different kind of win. It's game day, which means another opportunity to take photos. Alexis is building a growing interest in sports photography. Julennia is also developing her photography presence, promoting VisualsbyJlz and encouraging people to reach out if they need sports pictures. Jayden's win is a little more technological: his iPhone 18 finally arrived. There's just one problem—it's still sitting at home waiting to be connected to his provider. And then there's the biggest surprise of the week for the show: the Dunkin truck showed up at school. After talking wins, the crew looks ahead to the weekend. Alexis is planning to play Call of Duty and possibly save up for a new camera. Julennia has football, Rutgers volunteering, work, and a homecoming dress to buy. Jayden is considering a trip to Pennsylvania and Philly for a cheesesteak. Meanwhile, the hosts discuss softball, pickleball, gym class, and the eternal struggle of figuring out what activity is actually happening during the school day. It's a relaxed, positive Friday conversation—and a reminder that sometimes the little wins are worth celebrating. ----- Submit a shout out: https://forms.gle/xUhbEC2WU92pewSi9 Send us a voicemail: https://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/shoutout Connect with the Zebra Podcast Network X: https://twitter.com/zebrapodcastnet Instagram: https://instagram.com/zebrapodcastnet TikTok: https://tiktok.com/zebrapodcastnet YouTube: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/youtube Twitch: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/twitch Website: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com

Jayden Absolutely Dominates Throwback TV Trivia (10/1/26)

Three clues. One TV character. Can you figure it out before Jayden does? Throwback Thursday takes a trip through television history with a fast-paced character guessing game featuring some of the most recognizable characters from popular TV shows. Sebastian and Jayden each receive up to three clues. The clues range from jobs and locations to relationships, personality traits, and iconic details associated with the characters. The game starts with a character who works at a paper company in Scranton and has a complicated relationship with his boss. Jayden gets the steal: Michael Scott from The Office. Then comes a teenage girl from Hawkins, Indiana with psychic abilities who loves Eggos. Jayden immediately recognizes Eleven from Stranger Things. From there, the game moves through doctors, chemistry teachers, supernatural teenagers, island survivors, musicians, and comic-strip characters. By the time the game reaches Walter White and Wednesday Addams, Jayden has built a commanding lead. But Sebastian isn't finished. The final question gives him the chance to steal Archie Andrews from Riverdale. The result? Jayden wins the Throwback Thursday challenge. ----- Submit a shout out: https://forms.gle/xUhbEC2WU92pewSi9 Send us a voicemail: https://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/shoutout Connect with the Zebra Podcast Network X: https://twitter.com/zebrapodcastnet Instagram: https://instagram.com/zebrapodcastnet TikTok: https://tiktok.com/zebrapodcastnet YouTube: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/youtube Twitch: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/twitch Website: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com

One Month Into Senior Year: Is Jayden Thriving? (9/30/26)

One month of senior year is officially in the books. So how is Jayden doing? The answer: pretty chill. Wild Card Wednesday turns into a senior-year check-in as Jayden talks about his first month of senior year, including the classes he's enjoying, the class that's mostly just something he has to get through, and whether he's actually making progress toward the goals he set for himself. Japanese is currently his favorite class. He's learning to read and write Japanese characters, practicing his name, and already knows how to say “good morning.” Driver's ed, meanwhile, isn't necessarily difficult—Jayden has already earned his permit—but he still has to complete the class for the credit. The conversation also gets into the bigger picture. Is Jayden simply surviving senior year, or is he thriving? What should freshmen and underclassmen be doing right now? And should seniors actually take it easy—or is there still work to be done? Jayden also reveals what comes next: Lincoln Tech, with plans to study HVAC and automotive technology. Before signing off, the crew starts brainstorming a possible scavenger hunt around the school. One month down. A lot more of senior year to go. ----- Submit a shout out: https://forms.gle/xUhbEC2WU92pewSi9 Send us a voicemail: https://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/shoutout Connect with the Zebra Podcast Network X: https://twitter.com/zebrapodcastnet Instagram: https://instagram.com/zebrapodcastnet TikTok: https://tiktok.com/zebrapodcastnet YouTube: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/youtube Twitch: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/twitch Website: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com

Jayden Earns His Donut With Video Game Trivia (9/29/26)

There's a donut sitting on the table, but Jayden has to earn it. Trivia Tuesday is officially Game On as Jayden takes on a video game and mobile game trivia challenge hosted by Chuckles McFunster. The questions jump across some of gaming's biggest titles and concepts. Jayden identifies the material needed to build a Nether portal in Minecraft, names Mario's brother, recognizes the Pokémon GO accessory that can help catch Pokémon, identifies Roblox's currency, and explains what XP means in games. Then the challenge moves into Among Us, Mario Kart, Clash of Clans, and Candy Crush Saga. Some questions are immediate answers. Others require a little prompting before Jayden gets there. The final bonus question asks what NPC stands for—and Jayden gets close enough for Chuckles to give him the point. The best part? There was a reward waiting at the end. Jayden wins the game and earns the donut. It's a quick, fun Trivia Tuesday challenge that puts gaming knowledge to the test while covering everything from console and PC games to mobile gaming. ----- Submit a shout out: https://forms.gle/xUhbEC2WU92pewSi9 Send us a voicemail: https://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/shoutout Connect with the Zebra Podcast Network X: https://twitter.com/zebrapodcastnet Instagram: https://instagram.com/zebrapodcastnet TikTok: https://tiktok.com/zebrapodcastnet YouTube: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/youtube Twitch: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/twitch Website: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com

From Thailand to New Brunswick: Meet Mr. Finkelstein (9/28/26)

What do a rock band, tsunami relief in Thailand, five chili peppers, Holocaust literature, and getting to class on time have in common? They all help tell the story of Mr. Finkelstein. Maestro Monday welcomes the New Brunswick High School freshman English teacher for a conversation designed to show students the person behind the classroom door. His path into education wasn't exactly traditional. At 21, he traveled to Thailand with his girlfriend to volunteer in tsunami relief. They eventually found a way to stay, become teachers, and build lives within the community. Before teaching, though, Mr. Finkelstein thought he might become a rock star. He played guitar in a band, performed shows, and even recorded an album. The charts never came calling, but music remains one of his favorite parts of life. He also talks about cooking for his family, Haitian cuisine, Southeast Asian food, and just how much spice he can handle. Five Thai chili peppers may be his limit—but he's willing to suffer for a good meal. The conversation eventually turns toward his classroom, where he teaches freshman English and uses Night to help students engage with Holocaust literature and firsthand historical testimony. And his advice for students is refreshingly simple: Get to class on time. Keep your head up. ----- Submit a shout out: https://forms.gle/xUhbEC2WU92pewSi9 Send us a voicemail: https://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/shoutout Connect with the Zebra Podcast Network X: https://twitter.com/zebrapodcastnet Instagram: https://instagram.com/zebrapodcastnet TikTok: https://tiktok.com/zebrapodcastnet YouTube: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/youtube Twitch: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/twitch Website: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com

Can Jayden Survive the Time Machine? (9/24/26)

What if someone handed you a phone with no touchscreen, asked you to find a friend's house without Google Maps, and told you to watch a movie without Netflix? Welcome to the Time Machine. This Throwback Thursday sends Jaden through a series of clues about the technology, games, entertainment, and social media that came before today's always-connected world. Some answers come immediately. Others require all three clues—and a few are completely unfamiliar. The game brings back cassette tapes, Nintendo cartridges, wall phones, Blockbuster, Rubik's cubes, The Sims, iPods, Tamagotchis, MySpace, mix CDs, MapQuest, Vine, and BlackBerry phones. It's a fun reminder that many things today's students take for granted either didn't exist or worked very differently not that long ago. After the time machine shuts down, Jaden looks toward the future instead of the past. He's planning to try drill team and Raiders again, earn volunteer hours, wrestle for the first time, and possibly give bowling a shot—even though he's never bowled before. The episode is a mix of nostalgia, trivia, and a reminder that trying something you've never done can be part of the fun. ----- Submit a shout out: https://forms.gle/xUhbEC2WU92pewSi9 Send us a voicemail: https://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/shoutout Connect with the Zebra Podcast Network X: https://twitter.com/zebrapodcastnet Instagram: https://instagram.com/zebrapodcastnet TikTok: https://tiktok.com/zebrapodcastnet YouTube: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/youtube Twitch: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/twitch Website: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com

Mr. Meltzer Says: Follow the Rules and I’ll Leave You Alone (9/23/26)

What do party tents, emergency generators, snowboarding, cereal, and 17,000 steps have in common? Somehow, they're all part of Mr. Melczer's story. Wild Card Wednesday welcomes Mr. Melczer, Dean of Students, for a conversation that goes far beyond his current role at New Brunswick High School. He explains how he originally wanted to become a teacher, why he spent years working in the private sector first, and how he eventually found his way into education. Before becoming a dean, Mr. Melczer spent years teaching intervention language arts and ES at the middle school. He also shares what he misses about the smaller building, how many steps he gets every day, and what keeps him active outside of school—including baseball, working out, and snowboarding. Then things get a little more philosophical. The crew debates whether cereal qualifies as soup, whether a straw has one hole or two, and the proper order for putting on socks and shoes. But underneath the laughs is some practical advice for students: follow the rules, put away the phone, take out the AirPods, and you'll have a much easier time getting through the school day without unnecessary conflict. Mr. Melczer's final message is one worth remembering: anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time. ----- Submit a shout out: https://forms.gle/xUhbEC2WU92pewSi9 Send us a voicemail: https://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/shoutout Connect with the Zebra Podcast Network X: https://twitter.com/zebrapodcastnet Instagram: https://instagram.com/zebrapodcastnet TikTok: https://tiktok.com/zebrapodcastnet YouTube: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/youtube Twitch: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com/twitch Website: http://zebrapodcastnetwork.com
