Financial Freedom Fridays - ft Alex Marie: Fintech, Credit Access, and Our Seat at the Table

In Today's Episode, we're pulling back the curtain on the money machine and finding out who is really shaping the future of your dollars. I sat down with Alex Marie, Fintech executive, investor, creator, and founder of Alex4Fintech, and she made this whole world make sense. Most people can't even spell fintech, so I made her slow it all the way down for the Corner Community. High yield savings, ETFs, REITs, peer to peer lending, angel investing, and the difference between waiting on an advisor to call you back and making the move yourself from your phone. If you're new here, welcome to The Corner. This is where we keep it a hundred about the things nobody sat us down and explained. And if you've been rocking with me since day one, you already know this one is right in our wheelhouse. Alex Marie told us exactly how she would split $1,000 if she were starting today. She showed us her real returns AND her real risks, because social media loves showing the wins and burying the losses. She also gave us the five pillars of building wealth: income, savings, budgeting, investing, and access to credit. But the part that stuck with me most? Financial inclusion. Alex Marie talked about fintech being the hand reaching back to our cousins in underbanked communities, folks a traditional bank would deny for a $300 loan. She's teaching her own daughter with a money app right now, and she's standing in classrooms on career day talking about credit scores. That's not just career success, that's legacy work. Tap in and get your financial education: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner Drop me a comment and tell me the one money habit you're changing after this episode, and let me know what money question you want answered on a future show! Wind Down Wednesday - Your Health Is Your Job 'Stop Calling Out On Yourself"

In Today's Episode, we're winding down on a Wind Down Wednesday and getting honest about something most of us are guilty of. I share a question that I saw today that stopped me in my tracks: 'What's harder, working or working out?' This question reminded me how we are programmed to work, but we were never programmed to work out. FAM, sit with that one for a minute. Because here's the truth. If your employer said be there tomorrow, you'd be there. Tired, sore, bad mood, traffic, none of it would stop you. So why is the one employer we keep calling out on ourselves? A lot of us put in that work in the spring so we could feel right for the summer, got the white tees, got the shorts, got the sundresses, and then enjoyed ourselves so much that we let all of it go. I'm not telling you to stop enjoying your summer. I'm telling you not to lose in August what you built in May. In this one I'm talking about setting your fall goals now instead of waiting for fall to show up, why taking care of yourself is bigger than the gym, and why rest counts just as much as reps. Some days it's the walk. Some days it's the water. Some days it's the park. And some days, like today for me, it's laying it down and getting some rest. I'm preaching to myself on this one just as much as I'm preaching to you. Tap in and take care of you: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner Drop me a comment and tell me what's been keeping YOU consistent this summer, and then go do the real work: ask one person to walk with you this week. Park, track, neighborhood, 5K, some of y'all will run it and some of y'all will walk it. Both count. Let's keep building this thing together. 💪🏾 Connect with Cousin Ed: 762-333-2032 or @CousinEdsCorner on all platforms. Cousin Ed's Corner is not just about motivation, we're living it. Motivational Monday - We All Are A WIP 'WORK-IN-PROGRESS'

In Today's Episode, we're diving into the one word that can change your whole trajectory: CONSISTENCY. Today, I'm sharing why consistency isn't about doing the same exact thing every day, it's about showing up every day, even when you don't feel like it. This isn't just about motivation, it's about US building the discipline, stability, and fortitude that carries our community forward. I'm breaking down the three small habits that shaped me: making your bed (thanks, Dad!), folding your clothes straight out the dryer like we did back in the Brooklyn laundromats, and washing your dishes right away. These are the things you do when nobody's watching, and they build the person everybody respects. Plus, we talk steps, counter pushups, audiobooks over aimless scrolling, and the W.I.P. mindset: we are ALL Works In Progress, and that's exactly where growth lives. Whether you're a new listener or part of the day-one The Corner Family, this episode will meet you right where you are and push you one step further. And FAM, we just hit 1,000 followers on Instagram, so this one is a celebration of YOU and the consistency of this community! Tap in to embrace the wisdom: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner Drop me a comment with the ONE habit you're committing to this week, and share how consistency has shown up in your own journey! Let's keep building and getting better together. 💪🏾 Connect with Cousin Ed: 762-333-2032 or @CousinEdsCorner on all platforms. Cousin Ed's Corner is not just about motivation, we're living it. Thank God For Everything (TGIF) - Pray For Our Enemies pt2

In Today’s Episode, we’re getting into a word our nation needs right now. We’re talking about praying through the chaos and praying for our loved ones, our brethren, and yes, even our enemies and oppressors. I keep it a hundred with y’all: turning the other cheek is HARD when that right hand comes back like a reflex. That’s work. That’s the assignment. And I’m sharing my grandmother’s story, a praying woman who still suffered and the surrendered prayer that keeps a heart from going cold: “Let your will be done.” And we’re not the first ones given this assignment. David prayed for Saul while Saul was hunting him down, sparing his life when vengeance was right there for the taking. Jesus prayed for His enemies WHILE hanging on the cross: “Father, forgive them.” And Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. faced jail cells, bomb threats, and hatred face-to-face, yet still prayed for the very people who wanted him silenced. They didn’t do it because it was easy. They did it because praying for your oppressor releases YOU from the poison and puts justice in God’s hands, where it belongs. Tap in to receive the word: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner Lastly, I also want to thank each and every one of YOU for helping us in celebrating our major milestone of 600 episodes of Cousin Ed’s Corner. The comments, the DMs, the well-wishes… this can’t be done without you, FAM. But we’re not stopping to admire the view. This Thank God For Everything Friday, I’m challenging the Corner to make the next 600 episodes our biggest season of community yet. Drop me a comment and tell me what YOU’RE thanking God for this week, and share how you’re working on showing compassion in a cold world! Let’s keep building this Community. 600 down, 600 more to go. 💪🏾 Connect with Cousin Ed: 762-333-2032 or @CousinEdsCorner on all platforms. When My Sistah Wins We All Win - Dr. Cristen Harris 'From Rejections to Doctorate'

In Today’s Episode, we’re celebrating Black Excellence and the power of refusing to take “NO” for an answer. Today, I’m welcoming a brand new family member to the Corner — Dr. Cristen Harris, who just earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy after being rejected by 12 out of 13 schools, being told by her own advisors to change her major, working FIVE jobs at once, and tearing her ACL on a volleyball scholarship. This isn’t just about becoming a doctor — it’s about US, our persistence, and proving that when they close 12 doors, you only need ONE to walk through.   Dr. Harris keeps it all the way real about being one of the only ones in the room — only 5% of physical therapists are Black — and why she shares her story publicly: because somebody coming up behind her needs the blueprint she never had. Her message to every young dreamer out there? “You’re just as smart as the other person in the room. If you want it, go get it.” Tap in to embrace the wisdom: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner Drop me a comment about a dream somebody tried to talk YOU out of, and share how you kept pushing anyway! Then call the Corner line at 762-333-2032 and leave Dr. Harris a congratulations voicemail — I’ll play it back on a future show. We can’t sit on the sidelines while our youth do great things — we have to encourage them! Let’s keep building and celebrating our community’s wins together. 💪🏾 Connect with Cousin Ed: 762-333-2032 or @CousinEdsCorner on all platforms. Motivational Monday - 600 Episodes Strong: The Untold Story of Cousin Ed's Corner

In Today's Episode, we're celebrating a MAJOR milestone — 600 Episodes of Cousin Ed's Corner! FAM, when I got that notification this weekend, I had to stop and give thanks. From a Corner inside my cousin Mr. Moody's show to a platform of our own, this Motivational Monday takes you through the entire journey from the 50/50 brothers, Mr. Moody's Neighborhood with DJ Naturel, the WhatsApp and Telegram days, and the moment Queen Taralyn Michelle told me to do this for real. This isn't just about a number, it's about US. It's about consistency, purpose, and staying grounded with God through the jobs, the kids, the relationships, and the seasons of loss. I share the foundational episodes that built this house — "Remembering 9/11" with my mom, "How Will You Be Remembered?" after my own surgery, and the very first Motivational Monday: "Put Your Negatives in His Solution." Go back and listen to the classics — see how we've transformed together. Remember, this show is my therapy, and my prayer is that it's been a blessing to you too. If you've ever said "I learned something, I felt something, I'm better because of Cousin Ed's Corner" and this episode is YOUR celebration too. Tap in to celebrate with the FAM: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner Drop me a comment and tell me which episode/s have impacted you the most, and share the show with FIVE friends who need this motivation in their lives!
