From Stuck To Sent Part 1 – Stuck

What does it actually mean to trust God with our finances when the bills are piling up and the anxiety feels overwhelming? In this message drawn from Luke 12:22-34, we are invited into an honest and surprisingly personal conversation about the intersection of faith and financial health. Jesus speaks directly to people who are struggling, people living under real pressure with real needs, and rather than dismissing those needs, he dignifies them. He simply refuses to let worry be the answer. The central spiritual insight here is that anxiety does not add a single hour to our lives, and yet we pour enormous energy into it. Instead, we are called to seek the kingdom first, described in Romans 14:17 as righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. The radical idea is that entering into that kingdom posture actually changes how clearly we can think and act in the middle of scarcity. Research on farmers experiencing scarcity shows that stress and lack measurably reduce our cognitive capacity, and this message connects that finding to the spiritual wisdom of seeking peace before strategy. When we are grounded in the kingdom, we are better equipped to face the practical realities of our financial lives with clarity rather than chaos.

    Esther Part 3

What happens when everything seems to be working against us and the walls are closing in? The book of Esther gives us a front-row seat to one of the most dramatic reversals in all of Scripture. We follow a young Jewish woman living in exile, navigating a foreign culture without a clear, audible word from God, and yet stepping into extraordinary courage at the moment it mattered most. The central spiritual lesson here is that God is not absent just because he is silent. He is working in the background, in sleepless nights and royal court records and unlikely dinner invitations, orchestrating a reversal so complete that the very trap set for destruction becomes the instrument of deliverance. Esther chapter 9 verse 1 captures it plainly: the day the enemies of God's people expected to win became the day God's people prevailed. That kind of reversal is not a one-time historical event. It is a pattern woven into the character of God himself. For us today, this story is an invitation to trust that what the enemy has designed to isolate, silence, or destroy us is not beyond God's reach. He is the God who flips the script, and that truth is as alive for us now as it was for Esther and Mordecai in ancient Persia.

    The Messy Miracle

What happens when God is clearly at work but things are still a little rough around the edges? Acts 6:1-7 takes us right into the heart of that tension. The early church was experiencing explosive growth, radical generosity, and genuine miracles, yet a real and painful gap had emerged. A group of widows was being overlooked in the daily distribution of care, and the people affected were not shy about saying so. This passage invites us to sit with a challenging truth: God's perfect plan has always moved through imperfect people, imperfect processes, and imperfect communities. The miracle and the mess are not opposites. They are often simultaneous parts of the same story. We are challenged to resist the urge to suppress our frustrations or spread them to others, and instead to speak them honestly and constructively into the right channels. When we do, we create space for growth rather than division. The early church did not fall apart under the weight of its gaps. It leaned in, identified the need, raised up new leaders from within the very group that raised the complaint, and came out the other side with even greater momentum. That is the kind of faith community we are called to be.

    Esther Part 2

What do we do when God seems silent and the stakes could not be higher? The book of Esther places us right in the middle of that tension, and chapters 3 and 4 bring it to a breaking point. A decree has gone out for the destruction of an entire people, and the one person with any access to power is paralyzed by fear and uncertainty. There is no prophet stepping in, no burning bush, no audible voice from heaven. Just a moment, a position, and a choice. This message walks us through six practical and spiritually grounded steps for taking faithful action when we cannot clearly hear God speaking. We explore how to honestly weigh the cost of both action and inaction, how to take stock of what we know versus what we do not know, and how to recognize that the position we occupy, however ordinary it may feel, may be exactly where God needs us. The story of Esther reminds us that courage is not the absence of fear or uncertainty. It is the willingness to move anyway, trusting that the God who has been faithful in the past remains faithful now. Whether we are facing a hard conversation, a costly decision, or a moment that demands we speak up for someone else, this message gives us a framework rooted in scripture and lived experience to take the next step forward.

    Esther Part 1

What do we do when we need answers and God seems silent? The book of Esther drops us into one of the most uncomfortable and raw stories in all of Scripture, and it refuses to let us look away. Far from the sanitized Sunday school version of a Cinderella story, we find a conquered people navigating a brutal world, forced to make life-altering decisions without a prophet, without an explicit word from God, and without any guarantee of how things will turn out. And yet, in that silence, something remarkable is happening. No new word from God does not mean no word from God. Mordecai and Esther had the Torah, the accumulated testimony of who God is, what he has done, and what he has promised. That foundation did not give them certainty about outcomes, but it gave them something better: the confidence of walking with the one who does know. We are invited to sit in that same tension, trusting not because we have all the answers, but because we know the one who holds them.

    Called Out Sent In

God is on the move in and through Hope Valley Church. Today we celebrate our 5th anniversary and the amazing things God has been doing both to transform our lives and to bring transformation to Denver through our lives. We are a church of ministers, not a church with a minister, and on Commissioning Sunday there is no escaping that reality. God has gifted and placed each of us to build His Kingdom in workplaces, families, social circles, and neighborhoods and as a church we care about how we show up in these places. In this celebration service we commissioned every member of the congregation to carry the love, truth, and forgiveness of Jesus to our city that needs Him. As you join us online we hope you are encouraged by God seeing more than your Sundays and inspired to take what you have to the places He's put you in.

    Living Stones Part 3

What does it truly mean to be called out of darkness and into light? In this message drawn from 1 Peter 2:9-10, we are reminded that we are not just a collection of individuals finding our own way through faith, but a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, brought together with a shared identity and a shared mission. The calling is not simply to escape darkness for our own comfort. It is a calling into light so that we can bear witness to something greater. The story of Lazarus being raised from the dead becomes a powerful lens through which we see our own journey. The stone had to be rolled away by the people around him. He had to respond to the call himself, moving forward even wrapped in grave clothes. And then, crucially, the community had to unwrap him. None of it happened in isolation. This is a picture of what life in the church is meant to look like. We roll away stones for one another, we respond to God's call on our own lives, and we help each other shed the grave clothes that no longer belong on people who are alive. The question that lingers is a personal one. What darkness are we still tempted to return to, and what grave clothes are we still wearing that were never meant for the life we have been called into?

    Lord Of The Breakthrough

What does it really mean to experience a breakthrough? This message takes us deep into the story of King David in 1 Chronicles 14, where he faces the Philistine army in the Valley of Rephaim, a place whose very name means 'Valley of Giants.' The central insight here is both simple and profound: breakthrough is what happens when heaven's power meets a surrendered life. David's response to an overwhelming threat – his first instinct – was to stop, pray, and wait on God before taking a single step. The message challenges us to examine whether we treat God as a means to an end or as the end itself, because that distinction changes everything about how we navigate the hard seasons of life. We are reminded that success and comfort can quietly become the greatest threats to our faith, pulling us away from the dependency on God that produces real, lasting breakthrough. Instead, we are called to engage with the Lord and watch Him deliver breakthrough in our lives, even in places that have been failure points over and over again.
