    Hellenistic Astrology with Brittany Bordeau

What’s the origin of astrology? How did ancients understood astrology and does it have to do with Hermes exactly? Hellenistic times (300 BCE - 300 BCE to me it ends with the rise of Christianity) is the time of great cultural melting of Persian, Jewish, Egyptian, Greek and Roman influences in which astrology solidified into what we can recognise as astrology today. Today I talked to Brittany Bordeau to take us through all these questions and more. She helped me understand my own chart from the Hellenistic perspective which was actually really meaningful to me. You can watch the interview here: Notes from Brittany on learning more about Hellenistic Astrology. If you like a reading reach out to her at babordeau@gmail.com (I already ordered Demetra George book :)) For learning Hellenistic Astrological techniques: Ancient Astrology vol 1 & 2 Demetra George (Probably the most compréhensive text books on how to learn techniques) For history, philosophy and tradition of Hellenistic Astrology: Hellenistic Astrology: the study of fate and fortune For general learning about Hellenistic astrology and for monthly forecasts: The Astrology podcast For a deeper dive into the cosmological model of astrology, a discourse in the philosophy and mindset of ancient astrologers: Robert Schmidt Astrology Lectures For Vettius Valens:The Anthology by Vettius Valens Vettius Valens Although you can find the free version here:Vettius-Valens-The-Anthology-Book-I.pdf https://share.google/F4E9238P3LWPWcreY Hellenistic Astrology x Hermeticism: Get full access to The Immortal Ones at zitaatiz.substack.com/subscribe

    Creation myth from Kore Kosmou

Kore Kosmou is a piece of ancient writing that belongs to Hermetic tradition but it couldn’t be more relevant to our society today. It is a story that highlights one huge characteristic of human soul that eventually led to our downfall. Through the retelling of this story, we reveal important questions for today society, like what is knowledge or information without wisdom? What even is wisdom? And what does it mean to be aligned with established natural order? The struggle of the souls this story portrays made me remember “Dungeon of the Ribcage” a poem by You Bhajan which was later made it to a beautifully haunting song by Simrit Kaur The story can be found in Hermetica 2 translated by David Litwa Feel free to let me know your thoughts on this episode in the comments below. This episode took me on quite an emotional and philosophical ride. Thank you for listening Get full access to The Immortal Ones at zitaatiz.substack.com/subscribe

Creation Story from the Secret Book of John (Apocryphon of John)

In 1945, a group of Egyptian peasants made an astonishing discovery: a sealed clay jar buried near the cliffs of Nag Hammadi. Inside were thirteen ancient papyrus books containing forgotten Christian texts with mysterious titles such as the Gospel of Mary, Gospel of Thomas, and the Secret Book of John. These writings would become known as the Nag Hammadi Library and challenge long-held assumptions about the origins of Christianity. In this episode of Sadhana and Books, Zita Harkaran explores the dramatic story behind this remarkable discovery and dives into one of its most fascinating texts, the Apocryphon of John—a work that radically reimagines the biblical creation story of Adam, Eve, and the serpent. https://substack.com/@zitaatiz Instagram: Zita Harkaran Youtube: @ZitaHarkaran Get full access to The Immortal Ones at zitaatiz.substack.com/subscribe

Hermetica on physics, metaphysics and purpose of humans on Earth

This is the second part on Hermetica in which I mainly focus on how Hermes explains the physics of movement of celestial bodies. He also introduces us to the idea of the mixing bowl in which we are as if separated. At last, there is a discussion of the final book in Corpus Hermeticum and that's Asclepius which deals with good and evil and a powerful prediction for Egypt. Hosted on Acast. The cosmic serpent: How can we communicate with plants?

Reading Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Narby reignited in me the desire to share my thoughts and ideas about spirituality. In this increasingly material reality, I feel need to speak about what exists in between what is visible and in between life and death and in between creation and destruction. The books mentioned in this video are: The Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Narby Too Loud a solitude by Bohumil Hrabal Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare The Gods and Goddesses of Old Europe by Marija Gimbutas Hosted on Acast.
