Red Bull Londinium | A Pilgrimage to London

Yo ho Wololo! Empires gather. Crowds roar. Two grown men travel to London to watch other people play Age of Empires II. In this episode, we recount our journey to Red Bull Londinium — not as competitors, analysts, or enlightened beings of superior strategic insight… but as humble spectators, lost somewhere between awe and mild confusion. We talk about the event itself: the atmosphere, the stage, the games, and what it feels like to experience Age of Empires in a setting that is, frankly, far more impressive than our usual ladder sessions at home. At the end of the episode, we also have an announcement… and a guest on the horizon: Monne. We hope you enjoy! Sincerely,Cursed Mumm and Pennenbuisje

    The Last Chieftains

Civilizations rise. Empires fall. Elo disappears in the night without explanation. And yet, somehow, Kings and Conquerors persists. In this episode, we once again gather around the digital campfire to do what Age of Empires II players have always done best: talk absolute nonsense with total conviction. No structure, no elegant theme, no scholarly framework; just vibes, opinions, and the kind of confidence that can only come from being catastrophically wrong about build orders for over twenty years. We wander, as all great men do, through matters of grave importance: The Last Chieftains, the ladder grind, and the deeply questionable notion that we should commit ourselves to a showmatch. Or a set. Or some other ceremonial act of mutual humiliation. Will there be strategy?Perhaps. Will there be overconfidence?Certainly. Will one of us say something ridiculous and then defend it far too long?As the prophets foretold. This is not a carefully curated episode. It is a conversation. A drift. A gentle military campaign into the fog of war. And honestly, that feels right. We hope you enjoy!Sincerely,Cursed Mumm and Pennenbuisje You are very welcome to join the discussion on our Discord or give us your feedback about the podcast!

    Welcome to the Resurrection

“After all this time?” - “Always.” Thus respondeth Lazarus, as he rose from the grave, cast aside the shroud of death, and queued up for some ranked Age of Empires II. Death itself could not conquer his true love for a timeless classic. Because some things are eternal. Love, glory, and adults arguing about games from their childhood. Or something along those lines. We aren’t exactly religious scholars. Our point is this: Kings and Conquerors is back. In this episode, we return after a hiatus of over two years to take stock of the realm. We check in, catch up, and gaze boldly (or foolishly) toward the future—discussing our plans for the podcast and what lies ahead in the near future of AoE2. Expect thoughts, hopes, and at least one deeply held belief about boar luring, usually formed moments after a villager has already been lost. It feels damn good to be at it again. Truly. We hope you enjoy! Sincerely, Cursed Mumm and Pennenbuisje You are very welcome to join the discussion on our Discord or give us your feedback about the podcast!

Mountain Royals and all the updates / December 2023

The year comes to an end. And how better to end the year than by all new DLC and updates to our beloved games. We apologize for the delay. We had nearly finished our november episode when our paternal duties called for us. Now, yet another patch later we patched up the episode out of different takes and recordings. We cut a lot out and hope that the Chimera that remains is to your liking. We had picked 2023 to commit to our current format and are currently evaluating how it went. We ask for your input about the future of the podcast. You are very welcome to join the discussion on our Discord or give us your feedback about the podcast! Minisode: going through changes / November 2023

Do you hear Ozzy's iconic voice while reading this title? If so you are a champ! This is a minisode and only features Penn. It explains why the full episode hasn't released at this moment in time and what you can expect from the podcast in the upcoming months. Afterwards Penn talks about some of his thoughts about AoE right now: Monaspa cheese strat, Monks and finally he looks back at the concluded TTL3 tournament. We will keep you posted on the Discord and hit you up with a full and proper episode as soon as we can. We also ask for your input about the future of the podcast. How to play with monks / October 2023

With pride we present our 10th episode, double digits: HUZZAH! We follow the same structure as always and have some scoops for what we want to do with the next episodes. This episode focusses on the clergy of Age of Empires 2. Despite of being perpetually unchanged, monks have been added to the game balance discussion recently. Perfect time to take a closer look at this special unit and how to play them. We ask for your input about the future of the podcast. What would you do as an AoE2 Dev? / September 2023

Welcome to another episode of our show! And this time we do things a bit differently... Based on your feedback we tried keeping it a bit shorter this time around. Also we already announced the main topic last time: If you were an AoE2 dev; what would you like to add/change/do with our beloved game? And asked our community for input to discuss in our episode. As a final shift from our traditions we invited our very first guest on the show: Juda-Ben Gordier! Co Founder, project manager and character artist at Pajama Llama Games. In short: an actual professional who knows what he's talking about, in stark contrast to the podcast hosts. So this episode will be somewhat different, we hope it is all to your liking.
