I'm your host Joy Randolph and I’m a Certified Wellbeing coach that’s obsessed with helping mothers increase their capacity for joy in the key areas of their lives - career, relationships, family and health. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by motherhood or parenting, stressed by your relationships, held back by your health or like you've lost your identity and purpose in your career, this podcast is for you. Over the past six years, through my coaching programmes, online courses and YouTube videos I've helped over 2 million women around the world pursue a more fulfilling life. Passionate about understanding mental health even better, I'm currently studying a Masters in Psychology. What inspired me to create this podcast is my own personal mission. As a wife and mother of two girls, my goal is to create a healthy and happy home. But after having my children, I realised how much harder it can be to feel joy as you expand your family and subsequently lose sleep and your identity, gain challenges in your marriage, and confusion around your career. This inspired me to research and get trained in supporting women through their matrescence, which is defined as the physical, psychological and emotional and financial changes you go through after the birth of your child. These changes can happen in the first seven years of your children's life. I'm passionate about discovering simple, yet effective ways we can embrace the journey of motherhood and create a healthy and happy home for ourselves and our family. On this podcast we dive deep into all the topics that impact your joy, from pregnancy and the early years of mothering, stress, burnout, fatigue and anger, in addition to trauma, your relationships, career, health and identity. My hope is by being vulnerable about my journey, sharing the research and training I've learned, and discussing important issues that have the power to negatively or positively affect your life, you feel you have the tools to get through challenging times and the space to be able to fully experience the joyful times. On every episode, I hope to share simple yet effective ways we can navigate the various areas in our lives and change our thoughts, behaviour’s and patterns so we more easily feel joy everyday, no matter our circumstances. 10. What I Wish I and All Mothers Knew Before We Had a Baby

Did you hope that motherhood would be bliss? But found that as soon as you got pregnant, other made jokes about the lack of sleep you'll get and how much freedom you'll lose? It can be hard to navigate what to expect. Should you expect a joyful feeling once you give birth and meet your baby. Or is your life never going to be the same and you'll miss what life used to be like. In this weeks episode I break down what I wish mothers expected before having a baby. This episode is for you if you're hoping to one day have a family, or you're a new mother trying to make sense of how different being a mother is to what you expected. I share what I wish I would have known before I had a baby. This episode is not a negative podcast about the challenges that come. Nor is it an attempt to ask you to think positively and pretend the challenges don't exist. It's actually a frank conversation about the various ways being a parent can change your life, so that you realise that it's normal to feel any struggles that arise. And to help you think about getting the best resources and support for you to more easily enjoy the experience. 8. Why you should prioritise feeling inspired

Has the responsibility of motherhood taken away your freedom to think, be inspired and follow what lights you up? Have you been so focused on the day to day, you’re not sure what you want in your life, or career or even what you do for fun? Then this week’s episode is for you. I share why every mother needs to feel inspired and why it’s essential you prioritise what inspires you. You, will benefit so much from feeling inspired because it can help you feel motivated, energised and fulfilled. Let’s be real. Being a mom is a demanding and exhausting role that can require a lot of time, energy and attention. Sometimes it can even feel like you need to sacrifice yourself and your needs for the good of others.  The challenge is, when you prioritise everyone else’s needs and your to-do list above your inspiration, overtime you can lose your sense of identity, purpose and joy. Difficulties can feel overwhelming and you may even lose touch with what your interests outside of family life. It’s also harder to be successful and purposeful when we we don’t let inspiration guide us. Making time to tap into what inspires you can help you overcome the challenges and setbacks you feel day to day and can provide you with a sense of purpose and meaning. It also makes it so much easier to feel more connected to your children and the things you love. In this episode I share my story of how choosing inspiration over routine has helped me to achieve more in my day to day and have so much more fun along the way.  Key Links From The Show: Full episode show notes - click here For More Information: Website - click here YouTube - click here TikTok - click here Tips on Instagram - click here Family and lifestyle on Instagram - click here Subscribe to the podcast - click here

    7. How to help your baby nap and sleep through the night with more ease

Has your baby been waking up repeatedly in the middle of the night, and you wish they knew sleep through the night? Are nap times a struggle and you unsure what to do to help your baby have a peaceful two hour naps in their crib? Have you wondered what sleep training method you should use that will help your baby sleep through the night? Then you’ll love today’s episode because I share 7 steps to helping your baby sleep through the night, and how to choose a sleep training method you love that will get you there. Why I created this episode I know how exhausting it is to function on little sleep, how frustrating it is when baby only has short naps and what it's like to struggle to help them. I've also found a way to help both my children become great sleepers. My first daughter has slept through the night from 4 months and my second child from 7 months. They are both also great nappers and my youngest sleeps peacefully in her crib for up to 2 hours, which I didn't know was possible! I know that your baby and your family is different. So this episode is not about the specific tactics I used to soothe my children. What worked for my girls, might not work for you. I’ve instead done something better. I've created an episode sharing a 7 step process to help you figure out the BEST way to help YOUR baby to sleep. You'll learn how to figure out what sleep training method is right for you, how to troubleshoot any issues that come up and how to navigate the tears and anxiety that flow when you start sleep training. 6. How to find the right school for your child

Are you looking for the right school for your child? If you want to find the best school for your child that brings out the best in them, makes them happy and helps them reach their full potential, this weeks episode is a must listen. I reveal how to pick the best school for your child (and get the offers you want). Why I created this episode Finding the right school for your child can be a stressful process. When a child is unhappy at a school, it can be heartbreaking and give you many sleepless nights. When a child is happy but not being stretched, its disappointing because you don't get to see who they could have been with the right support. But when you find the right school that gives them a happy childhood, an excellent education and the skills to succeed in whatever they do, you've hit the jackpot. But figuring out which school will offer that to your child isn't easy. Furthermore, the best schools are often competitive, selective and oversubscribed. It takes insider knowledge of the school system to more quickly and easily navigate the school system in the UK. When I started looking at schools for my daughters, I was shocked by how complex the system is. The best state schools are highly selective and if you find a real gem, it can often be oversubscribed and you need to take the right steps to get an offer. All private schools are unique and it can be hard to figure out which type school would be best for your child. Single sex or co-ed? Boarding or day? City school or countryside school? Selective or non-selective? Comes with a nursery or no nursery? Academic or Non-academic? A feeder into public schools or not? Not to mention how to get your child a place as some private schools are highly selective or have long waiting lists. After researching all the options, learning insider tricks, finding the right school for my child and getting offers from all the schools we liked, I realised you may value this information too. In this episode I break down: The 5 myths parents believe that deceive them and make it harder to get their child into the right schoolThe history of schools in the UK and USA and why it's important to know the purpose of schoolsHow to get clear on which school is right for your childWhich parents are best suited to home education, state or private How to find and get an offer from the best state schools in your areaHow to figure out which private school is best for your child If you follow the tips in this episode, I'm confident you'll be happy and confident with your choice for your child. This episode is particularly helpful for parents with children that are approaching reception (elementary) or parents of older children that are looking to move to a new area in the UK.
