Episode 165: Unknown Encounters Over Virginia's Skies

This episode goes into a stretch of restricted airspace off the Virginia coast where something kept showing up that Navy pilots couldn’t explain. Around 2014, pilots flying out of Naval Air Station Oceana started running into objects that didn’t behave the way anything in that environment should. Some would just sit there at altitude, holding position in winds that should have pushed them. Others moved in ways that didn’t match any known flight behavior. And a few got close enough to stop being interesting and start being a problem, including a near-collision within about 50 feet of a Navy jet. This wasn’t a one-off. It kept happening. Enough that it started coming up in pre-flight briefings. Pilots described different shapes. What they started calling the Sphere, the Acorn, the Metallic Blimp. Images were taken. Looked at. Still not clearly explained. At the same time, some of the performance details that get talked about, speed, how long these things stay in the air, haven’t been confirmed outside internal reporting. And it’s still not clear if this is one thing showing up in different ways, or multiple unrelated objects being grouped together because no one can define them. The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office has said there are cases that remain unresolved. What stands out isn’t just that part. Flights didn’t stop. Operations didn’t change. Episode 160: The Terrifying Jiangshi (Jing Shi)

This episode of 4 Ever Paranormal jumps into perhaps one of the most bizarre figures within Chinese folklore - the Jiangshi. The Jiangshi does not represent an elegant vampire as in the west, but rather an unnatural and frightening “hopping corpse,” without a wistful spirit. The Jiangshi's body is animated by the energy of “qi,” the life force, and not due to its desire for blood. We look at the origin of this belief through actual historic means of transporting bodies over long distances to metaphysical belief systems based on Taoist views of how a spirit can leave its body; this exploration causes us to be unable to tell whether one has experienced something or whether it is an explanation of an experience. Were these experiences purely based on cultural factors or were there truly things where people had an authentic encounter? The episode presents an ambiguous situation; it you into an in-between land of myth, history, and collective experience. The concept of the dead continually moving around is almost quite plausible.
