    Episode 158 - Death By A Thousand Cuts

    Well, well, well, the month of July is here which takes us to the Lover album! Rachel has rehearsed the bridge to this song for weeks and she finally has her moment to shine in this episode!! But first, we absolutely had to discuss the iconic night that Taylor Swift was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, becoming the youngest woman IN HISTORY to acheive this honor! We also have an entire discussion on TS 13 and what our hopes and dreams are for the next album! Olivia Rodrigo is without a doubt our new shit of the week, and no surprise, Rachel cries. This album is so good though! Death By A Thousand Cuts is a very curious song, both in its production and its lore. Taylor writes from a hypothetical perspective, having been inspired by a movie she saw that includes memories and flashbacks of a profound relationship within New York City. It's the perfect inspiration for Taylor pondering what might happen if she never walked Cornelia Street again....     Episode 157 - Don't Blame Me

    It's a *Tay Story* and baby we just said YES!!! We are absolutely loving the Toy Story/Taylor Swift crossover, and the song for the new film is a dream! When worlds collide like this, we are left feeling blessed, seen, and utterly satisfied. We also have a discussion on how we just know Debut (Taylor's Version) will be coming out this year; the coming home imagery of "I Knew It, I Knew You," the 20th anniversary, the easter eggs.....it's definitely happening, right?! We also have a considerate discussion about the rumors that Taylor and Travis are getting married at Madison Square Garden. It's weird, but also kind of sensible. Tell us what you guys think! As we welcome in the 6th month of the year, our song this week is brought to us by the 6th album REPUTATION! Sam was delighted to have the honor to choose a song from his favorite album, and what better selection than one of the most iconic from the album and an absolute powerhouse of a song. Taylor doesn't so much "clap back" at the media in this song, but presents a defense as to her behavior and why she is who she is. She also might be struggling with a drug addiction, but she's unapologetic and confident and LORD SAVE US Taylor Swift made us crazy. If she doesn't make you crazy then you just ain't doing it right....     Episode 156 - ivy

    Oh goddamn! This stunning song is one of Taylor's best examples of poetic imagery, storytelling, and escapism. We couldn't help but wonder if Taylor was projecting herself into the narrator's point of view, or if she was inspired by historical figures of years ago. It was also challenging to discern whether or not the narrator in this song is happy and relieved for the "ivy," or if she's cursing it. One thing was certain for the both of us: it's a deeply profound and absolutely beautiful song. So yeah, it's a fire, it's the goddamn song of our life and Taylor started it!     Episode 155 - The Fate of Ophelia

    This is THE song from The Life of a Showgirl! It's the album opener, the first single, and the biggest song of Taylor Swift's career! She digs back into her fairytale roots a little bit, while re-imagining a classic Shakespeare tale, just like she did in Love Story. Speaking of "story," Toy Story comes up quite a few times in this episode. What was with that mysterious countdown that disappeared? And the TnT of it all?! Sam is exhausted from but excited about opening up a new cocktail bar in California, and Rachel brings baseball into the conversation when revealing which song she's chosen for the next episode.     Episode 153 - State of Grace

    W​e’re excited to wish Rachel a happy birthday on this episode, and to also welcome her back from her epic trip to England and Scotland! SHE WENT TO THE BLACK DOG! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t s****y. Then Sam catches her up on all the things she missed while she was away: album announcements, new music and music videos, Taylor and Travis at awards shows, and an inspiring story of Swifties in outer space! The song of the week had us really reflecting on the power of Taylor’s ability to tell a story and keep the listener engaged in the album. But certain lyrics in this song had both of us sibs really wondering what she meant. It’s an epic opening track and one of the most important ones of the entire Red album. There is certainly a deal of criticism this song receives, and rightfully so, but it's ultimately so very fun.
