    Week 183: Dolly Parton, Jesus Christ & Our Home

    Send us Fan Mail In the wake of Dolly Parton’s passing, we reflect on the themes of home, love, belonging, and longing that ran through so much of her music—including “When I Get Where I’m Going,” “There Was Jesus,” and “I Will Always Love You.” Dolly spent much of her life singing about the things our hearts long for: a place to belong, a love that endures, and a home beyond the pain of this world.  But Jesus offers us something greater than a song can promise. He doesn't merely promise that one day we will go home. He promises that He will make His home with us now. Through Christ, the Christian is not spiritually homeless. We have been adopted by the Father, united to the Son, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit. And when we struggle with sin, shame, temptation, or the feeling that we've wandered too far, Jesus doesn't tell us to clean ourselves up before coming home. We have an Advocate with the Father, and we are invited to draw near to the throne of grace. So come home. Come to Christ. Open His Word. Pray. Repent. Rest in His finished work. Because earthly homes change. People leave. Loved ones die. This world passes away. But Christ does not. The One who makes His home with His people today will one day bring them home to be with Him forever.

    Week 182: I Will Not Leave You as Orphans

    Send us Fan Mail What happens when the people we depend on leave us? What happens when we feel forgotten, abandoned, or completely alone? In John 14:18, Jesus gives His disciples a promise that reaches straight into the heart of those fears: “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” In Week 182 of The Isaiah 43 Podcast, we continue our journey through the Gospel of John and explore one of the most comforting promises Jesus gives His people. The disciples were terrified. Jesus was leaving. The One they had followed for three years was preparing to go to the cross. But Jesus assures them that His departure would not mean abandonment. Through the Holy Spirit, Christ would come to dwell with His people.     Week 181: You Are Not Alone

    Send us Fan Mail What did Jesus mean when He promised His disciples “another Helper”? In this episode of The Isaiah 43 Podcast, we continue our journey through the Gospel of John and explore one of the most comforting promises Jesus ever gave His people: the promise of the Holy Spirit. Last week, Jesus told His disciples, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” But how can sinful, weak people possibly live in faithful obedience to Christ? Jesus gives the answer immediately: You are not alone. In John 14:16–17, Jesus promises that the Father will give His people “another Helper”—the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, who will dwell with believers and be in them forever.     Week 180: If You Love Me, Keep My Commandments

In this episode of The Isaiah 43 Podcast, we continue our verse-by-verse study through the Gospel of John by exploring one of Jesus' most searching—and most comforting—statements. Together we'll examine the Upper Room on the night before the crucifixion, the difference between legalism and lawlessness, the miracle of regeneration, our union with Christ, and how true obedience flows from love rather than earning God's favor.     Spider-Man, Heroes, and the Savior We Really Need | Titus 3:3–6

This week I'm sharing my recent sermon from Shepherd's Rock Bible Church on Titus 3:3–6. We begin with an unexpected illustration from Spider-Man 2, but quickly discover that every heroic story ultimately points beyond itself to the greatest rescue in history. The gospel tells us something surprising: we are not merely victims waiting to be rescued—we are rebels in need of a Savior. Yet according to His mercy, God did what we never could. He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but because of His grace through Jesus Christ.     Week 179: The Privilege of Prayer

    Send us Fan Mail Have you ever noticed how often people say, "In Jesus' name"? When Jesus says, "Whatever you ask in My name, this I will do," is He giving us a blank check? Does praying in Jesus' name mean that God will give us whatever we want? That's exactly what we're going to explore today in John 14: 13, 14.  Because if we misunderstand these verses, we'll misunderstand prayer itself. But if we understand what Jesus is saying, we'll discover that praying in His name is far greater than simply ending our prayers with those words.

    Week 177: When You Fall, Does Jesus Still Want You?
