Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell, and Eric Bland, Thank you for shining a light where it is often difficult to shine—especially in small towns and throughout the South, where silence, influence, and power can too often overshadow truth. I’m a Black man, a proud Army veteran of 10 years, and a survivor of sexual assault as both a child and an adult. I hold a master’s degree and hope to pursue a Juris Doctor in the future. Eric, I find myself listening closely whenever you speak—not only because of your legal insight, but because of your ability to break down complex issues in a way that resonates. I’m also married to an incredible man who is a nurse and soon-to-be Nurse Practitioner. While I’ve always been a reader at heart, podcasts have become one of my favorite ways to learn and stay informed. I’ve been listening to your work since long before your audience exploded. In fact, Mandy, one of the things that first hooked me was the depth of information provided in your podcast notes. As a true crime enthusiast, I appreciated that your work went beyond headlines and speculation—it was thoughtful, detailed, and rooted in facts. I wholeheartedly support women and have never been one to stand by when someone is being mistreated. Throughout my life, I’ve stepped into situations to defend women because I refuse to accept the mindset that it’s “none of my business.” Too often, I’ve watched others remain silent when speaking up was the right thing to do. Your team represents something that is increasingly rare: real journalism, relentless pursuit of the truth, and a willingness to ask difficult questions when others won’t. The work you do matters. It informs, empowers, and gives a voice to people and stories that might otherwise be overlooked. Thank you for your dedication, your courage, and your commitment to uncovering the truth. Use to be good and enjoyable. Now it is unlistenable. Mandy in her constant victim hood and Liz with her inability to report without name calling. It reeks of a 13 year old middle school mean girls who are too insecure to live life without trying to tear others down. It’s too bad you couldn’t stick to reporting facts and now just whine about things you don’t agree with.

Repeat listening to the beginnings of COJ since the Murdaugh case is to be retried, and this is absolutely the good stuff. The trio of Mandy, Liz and Eric are the perfect blend to keep listeners hooked. The losses of the victims make me feel guilty for enjoying this podcast, but showing sunlight on the crooked is necessary.
