    Unshakable Courage

Fear and spiritual timidity can keep Christians from living faithfully in the places God has assigned them. Teaching from 2 Timothy 1, verses 6-18, Pastor Mike McKee of Cedar Creek Church in Aiken, South Carolina, shows how Paul calls Timothy to rekindle God’s gift, reject fear, and live with the power, love, and sound judgment supplied by the Holy Spirit. The Christian life is not a call to comfort or complacency. Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, God saves His people by grace, gives them a holy calling, and sends them as ambassadors of Christ to share Jesus and show others what it means to follow Him. When gospel faithfulness brings awkwardness, rejection, hardship, or opposition, believers do not endure in their own strength; they rely on the power of God and remember who they are in Christ. Paul’s charge to Timothy is also a call to hold tightly to sound teaching, guard the good deposit of the gospel through the Holy Spirit, and remain devoted when others drift away. Confidence grows not from our qualifications or the approval of others, but from Christ and what He has done for us. Key themes include: - God gives believers what they need to faithfully live out their God-given assignment. - Faith in God, rather than fear, should shape our witness and obedience. - Gospel faithfulness may bring discomfort or hardship, but believers rely on God’s power rather than their own strength. - Our identity and confidence are rooted in God’s grace and what Christ has done, not human approval. - Christians are called to hold to sound teaching, guard the gospel, and remain devoted to the faith. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.” —2 Timothy 1, verse 7 Scripture Reference: 2 Timothy 1, verses 6-18 Pastor Mike McKee 00:00 Introduction 05:59 Rekindle the Gift 12:52 Not a Spirit of Fear 22:39 Unashamed of the Gospel 29:41 Saved and Called by Grace 37:34 Hold and Guard the Gospel 39:58 Desertion and Devotion 45:26 Respond to the Gospel Cedar Creek Church is a gospel-centered church serving Aiken, South Carolina, and the surrounding area. Pass It On

A faithful legacy is not built on status or success, but on passing the gospel to those who come after us. Teaching from 2 Timothy 1:1-5, Pastor Mike McKee of Cedar Creek Church in Aiken, South Carolina, traces the foundation laid in Timothy’s life through Paul, his mother Eunice, and his grandmother Lois. Paul’s opening words remind Timothy that God stands behind the mission, that new life comes through Christ, and that grace, mercy, and peace are not merely the beginning of the Christian life—they sustain and motivate it. Because the gospel has been entrusted to us, faithfulness means both holding firmly to Jesus and helping others know, love, and follow Him. Pastor Mike calls parents to bring their children into an honest, everyday walk with Christ, marked by Scripture, prayer, repentance, and teachable moments. He also challenges the whole church to become spiritual mothers and fathers, invest in the next generation, grow through Christian community, serve, give, and pour into those who are coming behind them. The question is not simply what we will leave, but whom we will leave—and whether they have received the hope of Jesus. Key themes include: God stands behind the gospel mission and empowers His people to participate in it. Grace, mercy, and peace are the foundation and ongoing motivation of faithful Christian living. Parents pass on faith through Scripture, prayer, repentance, and everyday example. The church raises believers through intergenerational discipleship, service, and generosity. Christians must keep growing together so they have something to pour into others. “I recall your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother, Lois, and in your mother, Eunice.” —2 Timothy 1, verse 5 Scripture Reference: 2 Timothy 1, verses 1-5 Pastor Mike McKee (00:00) Introduction to 2 Timothy (03:08) God’s Mission and Promise of Life (10:01) Grace, Mercy, and Peace (18:40) A Legacy of Faith (20:44) Passing Faith to Your Children (28:56) The Church Passes Faith On (38:03) Growing in Christ Together (42:08) Responding with Faithfulness Cedar Creek Church is a gospel-centered church serving Aiken, South Carolina, and the surrounding area.
