Welcome to Dad-Hoc - the off the cuff and totally unscripted, barely edited podcast about Dadding. There's plenty of stuff out there about Fatherhood, Parenting and even Raising children, but I have struggled to find anything about the Dadding experience. The good and the bad. My name is Rhys, and I'm a new Dad who lives in Melbourne. I hope that some of the stories, advice, laughs all translate and that we get to experience all the cool stuff together and I hope that you get something out of it!

    A Dad-Hoc Conversation with Mighty Mitch

    Another Dad-Hoc episode in the books - and Im thankful to have been joined by Mitch who is also a brand new Dad! Yes, this episode is a bit more newborn, infant, new dad and birth experience focussed as Mitch and I got to sit down and share our experiences. We talk of many things, including Mitch's journey with IVF, welcoming his gorgeous little girl Evelyn into the world, his experience with Post Natal Depression and how we get along in doing work and Dadding. This was an awesome conversation and I learned just as much about myself, as I did about Mitch's experience with becoming a parent.     A Dad-Hoc Conversation with Lachy the Night Terror Guardian

    WE'RE BACK! Its been a while between drinks, and if youre a parent listening to the podcast, you know its easy to see 3 days turn into 6 weeks! So, in that time, so much much has happened. I'll be putting that into a bit of an update episode soon! For now, I got to catch up with Lachlan, a legend who was referred to the podcast by his sister (for which we are very grateful)! Lachy shares stories of his 3 boys, 3 caesarians, what its like to parent with a busy schedule and the night before rush hour! Lachy also wanted to come on and share his experience with something I'd not even heard of, which apparently are very common, but also not talked about a lot; Blue Spells and Night Terrors.     A Dad-Hoc Conversation with the Legendary Luke

    This week, I got to meet virtually with my friend Luke. We connected over his stories of becoming a young father with a surprise baby, following them up with a second and then after a break, a new addition more recently. We get to chatting about parenting with a big age gap, his great birth stories, fighting with midwives, the strength of a pregnant woman in labour and a few other things in regards to the birth and early childhood of his kids. But what I got most out of this chat with Luke, was how he managed to work on himself in coming to terms with being a Dad. Staying on top of your finances, the development of his Dad Strategy and how he now had gone back to sport. This chat was really helpful for me and I really hope its helpful for you too!     This week I had the pleasure of being joined by one of the nicest people I know; my mate Andy. He's a brewer and a Dad to 5 kids. In this episode we discuss how he juggles his 5 kids and their sports and interests, as well as his own medical issues. On top of that we talk kids starting high school, technology, managing to keep the Easter and Christmas magic alive for his youngest and reminiscing fondly of the newborn days.     The Sutton Episode

    I take a moment to take you through the birth of my daughter, Sutton. This was a really important episode for me to get out there and I hope that it gives some insight into me, and why I wanted to create this podcast series. It's been 6 weeks and its been one of the hardest journeys of my life, but the chapter is here and now we're reading it at pace, excited for the next paragraph! This episode was a really good way for me personally to take some time with my thoughts about the day, re-live it and get it out there for you all to hear.     Brendo is a brewer here in Melbourne, and I've had the good fortune to have met him through the Beer Industry. Brendo is thankfully my second guest here on the Dad-Hoc podcast and we get to chat about how he managed to go through IVF, his birth experience post that, how the and his partner went about getting pregnant a second time, his change of careers with a toddler and how he manages tech time as well as teaching his kids to be good world citizens.
