The Late Challenge – Liverpool FC Podcast

The Late Challenge

The Late Challenge is a Liverpool FC podcast and video show with Gareth Roberts and Mo Stewart, getting stuck into everything happening around The Reds — on the pitch, off it and everywhere in between. Robbo is a Kop season-ticket holder, while Mo covers Liverpool from the press box at Anfield. Together they dissect the football, debate the big talking points and give an independent take on the issues surrounding the club. Paul Cope and Stu Wright also regularly join the conversation, while special guests from football, sport and beyond drop in from time to time. Beyond the regular Liverpool shows, TLC occasionally branches out into wider football, sport, current affairs and life as a middle-aged football fan. Expect strong opinions, plenty of debate and a willingness to challenge the prevailing view — but Liverpool FC will always come first.

Barcola To Liverpool, Isak Myths & Forest Preview | Midweek Sports Special #1

Welcome to the first Midweek Sports Special in the studio from The Late Challenge. Gareth Roberts and Stu Wright get stuck into the latest Liverpool FC talking points, including Bradley Barcola, what the numbers tell us about the French winger and what his arrival could mean for the rest of the squad. We also look at some of the increasingly wild verdicts on Alexander Isak. Is he really injury prone? Can he actually “string games together”? And is anyone remotely justified in writing him off after such a small sample in a Liverpool shirt? There’s more transfer chat too, including Gakpo, Elliott, Minteh, Sarr and Alex Scott, before attention turns to Iraola’s first Prem match at Anfield. What should Liverpool change after Newcastle? How dangerous could Oliver Glasner’s Forest be? And where is the hope-ometer heading as the new season gets properly underway? Midweek Sports Special will initially be available free before becoming an extra show for Patreon subscribers and YouTube members.  You can support us financially to keep the show going in two ways, either:  1. TLC x Defend And Attack – The John Barnes Podcast

Liverpool legend John Barnes joins Mo Stewart and Gareth Roberts for an in-depth and wide-ranging chat. Barnes discusses his new podcast, Defend and Attack, remembers the great Kevin Keegan, reveals his favourite goal in a Liverpool shirt and lifts the lid on what training was really like at LFC back in the day. He also gets into the differences between how fans see football and how players and pundits see the game, life after playing, how football has changed, Liverpool then and now, and much more besides. A proper natter with one of the greatest players ever to wear the red shirt. You can support us financially to keep the show going in two ways, either:  1. Liverpool’s New Season: Great Expectations? | Episode 185

The friendlies are done and Liverpool’s season starts for real at Newcastle on Sunday. Are The Reds ready? Is Jeremy Jacquet already undroppable? Does the squad still look too light? And what should we realistically expect from Andoni Iraola in his first season at Anfield? We also get into Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, the remaining transfer business — and, on our Patreon/YouTube members show – the huge questions raised by the arrival of Amit Bhatia, Jeff Bezos and the new investors at Liverpool. Could the Premier League’s changing TV landscape, the future of the 3pm blackout and its new direct-to-consumer streaming service all be part of the bigger picture?
