During an episode of psychosis, a person's thoughts and perceptions are disrupted and they may have difficulty recognizing what is real and what is not. It is a mental health condition characterized by a loss of touch with reality, including delusions and hallucinations. People experiencing psychosis may have distorted perceptions or beliefs about the world and themselves, and may struggle to differentiate what is real from what is not. Psychosis can be a symptom of several different mental health illnesses, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe depression. Treatment typically involves medication, therapy, and support to manage symptoms and improve functioning. Early intervention and treatment can increase the likelihood of recovery and reduce the risk of long-term complications (https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/understanding-psychosis#:~:text=Psychosis%20refers%20to%20a%20collection,real%20and%20what%20is%20not.) ⚫️ SHOW NOTES: ·     Email: coffeeandcrimewithamilitarywifepod@outlook.com (write your military and/ or true crime stories in, or just say hi) ·    Find my socials here! https://linktr.ee/coffee.crimewithamilitarywife?fbclid=IwAR3k26-ET-RWWbnF2Hg9mcFhKINEQi6PJ5YXsOp4jYqDZOYT0FDier067QM ·      Buy me a Taco and leave me a message! 🌮 https://www.buymeacoffee.com/coffeeandcw ·      Better Help Therapists! EPISODE 10 (Interview 7) with Emma

In this episode, Emma talks about how she didn't expect to be a military spouse but she would not have it any other way! From a young age, Emma and her partner knew what long distance was like between her completing her studies and her partner working. Doing distance made them appreciate each other more, build resilience, trust, and communication. Emma talks about her struggles during covid with a young baby and how she put herself on "survival mode". At the time, her and other mothers and parents had no choice but to put themselves on survival mode throughout covid. Emma also mentions the struggles that her 2 year old daughter goes through at school with her classmates and how her behaviour changes once her dad leaves or is coming back from a course or a tour. Children are sponges and notice things that we may not always notice ourselves. Emma mentions that because of the health system we live in and how it's so bombarded with lack of services and / or workers, it's often times very hard to seek the help that parents need. Therefore, often times they have be their own advocate for their children. Enjoy this episode!
