Monique Harding

Rising Femme with Monique Harding is a podcast about how we work, lead, relate and build lives that actually work for us. Monique is a psychology-led business and performance coach and therapist who is endlessly curious about why we do what we do — and how we can do it differently. Expect conversations about portfolio business, performance, leadership, relationships, ambition, identity and the psychology behind the decisions we make. Through solo episodes, practical how-tos and conversations with interesting people, Monique explores the ideas that help us think differently about our work and our lives — from building a career around more than one thing, to performing under pressure, navigating relationships and figuring out what success actually looks like for you. Less about becoming a better version of yourself. More about understanding yourself well enough to build work, relationships and a life that fit.

Burnt out from 1-1? How to diversify your income without scaling your business

Send us Fan Mail What if the answer to feeling exhausted by your business isn’t better boundaries, more resilience or another productivity system? What if this part of your business is simply… big enough? maybe your clinical work, consulting, coaching or service business doesn’t need to get any bigger. Maybe you need to change the mix. In this episode, I’m exploring a different way to think about business growth particularly if most of your income currently comes from 1:1 client work. We talk about why growth doesn’t always need to mean more clients, more staff or scaling every successful offer; the idea of deliberately capping income streams; and how a portfolio business can give you more ways to earn without requiring every part of your business to become enormous. I also unpack the difference between maximising every individual stream and optimising your business as a whole = for income, energy, interest and the life you actually want to live. In this episode: Why 1:1-heavy businesses can leave you falling in a heap by FridayThe limited growth levers available when most of your income relies on youWhy “successful” doesn’t automatically mean “scale it”How capped income streams can work within a portfolio businessThe difference between maximising a stream and optimising your whole businessWhy diversification doesn’t automatically prevent burnoutDesigning a business you can change across different seasons of your lifeJoin Portfolio Business Accelerator

Private Practice Isn’t Your Only Option: Rethinking Financial Security as a Therapist

Send us Fan Mail There’s a lot of safety in following the traditional private practice model: see 1:1 clients, charge per session, fill your caseload and, when you reach capacity, hire more therapists or open another practice. But what happens when that model no longer fits the way you want to work or you have zero interest in managing people? In this episode, I’m exploring why so many therapists and health professionals feel trapped in private practice (even when they still love the work itself) and how we can start questioning some of the assumptions we’ve inherited about what a successful therapy career or health business is supposed to look like. Because building a portfolio business doesn’t have to mean walking away from private practice, taking a huge financial risk or suddenly creating five new income streams. I share the concept of anchor income and why I believe financial security should come before experimentation. We’ll look at how to work out your own “healthy minimum” the amount of predictable income you need to feel financially secure enough to explore different ways of using your expertise. In this episode, I cover: Why the traditional private practice model can feel both safe and restrictiveThe conventional pathway from therapist → full caseload → practice owner → people managerWhy becoming a bigger practice owner isn't the only way to grow your careerHow we accidentally turn industry norms into rules about what we have to doThe difference between your financial bare minimum and your “healthy minimum”How anchor income can create a stable foundation for building additional income streamsWhy diversifying your work doesn't have to mean risking everything you've already builtHow to start experimenting with a portfolio career while maintaining financial securityIf you still love being a therapist, practitioner or health professional but can't imagine working in exactly the same way for another ten years, this episode is an invitation to consider that there may be more options available to you than you think. You don't necessarily need to leave private practice. You might just need to stop treating the traditional private practice model as the only option.
