    77: Surviving The Postpartum Shuffle

Sleep-deprived parenting has a special way of making everything feel urgent, from a baby rolling over at 2 a.m., to a toddler quietly wandering the hallway. We’re Tajuana and Sheree, and we’re back together talking through the real stuff: postpartum survival, the mental load, and the tiny systems that keep our days from spinning out. We get honest about mental health after baby, including ADHD medication logistics, PMDD weeks, and what it’s like to tweak Zoloft while you’re still trying to function at work and at home. We also zoom in on the “small but huge” topics that parents rarely compare notes on, like whether your week starts on Sunday or Monday, and how a pill organizer can either save you or sabotage you. From there, we bounce through community and connection: virtual book club dreams, in-person meetups, and the awkward truth that making mom friends can feel like speed dating with strollers. We also talk practical postpartum problem-solving, including screen-related headaches, new glasses and blue light lenses, sleep regression realities, rolling and swaddle transitions, and the safety anxiety that comes with kids who can open doors and find the stairs. We wrap with what self-care actually looks like right now: skincare when we can, fresh air when the weather allows, and tools that help us feel a little more human. If this felt relatable, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a laugh, and leave us a review. What’s one “tiny fix” that’s saving your sanity lately? 76: What If Building Her Self Esteem Heals Mine Too

Raising a daughter can feel like the sweetest kind of time travel and the most intense kind of pressure. One minute we’re laughing at mismatched outfits and high fives for tiny wins, and the next we’re staring down the reality of sending our little girl into a world that can be harsh to girls and especially harsh to Black girls. That tension sits at the center of this solo conversation: how do we protect our kids without shrinking them, and how do we build confidence without pretending we’re never insecure? We get personal about the unexpected ways motherhood brings up our own childhood memories. Watching a little girl sing her heart out, create, dance, and play can be healing, but it can also expose the parts of us that learned to quiet down. We talk about inner child healing, why patience and grace matter so much with “big feelings,” and how discipline starts to look different when the goal is emotional regulation with real boundaries. You’ll hear practical language we use at home, including the idea that kids can be mad while still learning to be respectful. We also dig into modeling, because kids are watching everything: skincare routines, mirror moments, self talk, and the casual comments adults make about bodies and food. We share what we’re changing now to break cycles and build a foundation of self-esteem before the tough years hit. And with preschool around the corner, we talk through the nerves of trusting new adults, helping kids make friends, and using encouragement to grow bravery one small step at a time. If any of this hits home, listen through and then share it with a parent who needs to feel less alone.  Subscribe, leave a review, and tell us what’s been the hardest or most healing part of raising your kids so far. 75: The 3 A.M. Survival Guide

3 A.M., can make you feel like you’re the only person awake on the planet, holding a baby in the dark and wondering how you’ll do tomorrow on this little sleep. Sheree jumps on for a solo, real-life check-in from the postpartum newborn trenches and shares what’s genuinely helping her navigate sleepless nights with a newborn plus an older kid in the mix. We talk about the mindset shifts that change everything when you’re spiralling at night: remembering that this season will pass, reframing wakeups as normal newborn biology, and giving yourself permission to admit when you can’t access the “positive” perspective. From there, we get practical. Sheree breaks down the small tools that keep her regulated and sane, like building a grab-and-go nightstand survival station with earbuds for podcasts and audiobooks, water and snacks, white noise, comfort items, and quick mantras that bring you back to centre. She also shares why scrolling can blow up your sleep and what to reach for instead when you need distraction without the dopamine hit. You’ll also hear a simple checklist for those frantic moments when baby won’t settle, plus soothing resets that help both parent and baby, like fresh air, water, rocking, walking, and humming.  Sheree explains the heart behind her digital 3 A.M. Survival Guide in our Etsy shop, designed to feel like a supportive sister or best friend on the nights your village is asleep. If you know a new mom, a “new again” mom, or any sleep-deprived parent, share this with them.  Subscribe, leave a review, and tell us what gets you through the hardest hour. 74: Hoarding Secrets and a 6 P.M. Coffee (June Book Club discussion)

A house packed to the ceiling with stuff is one kind of mess. The secrets a family keeps can be even harder to clear out. We’re Tajuana Paige and Sheree Paige Barber, and we’re back to our roots with a Turn the Page Book Club crossover that’s equal parts real life and real reads. Before we even get to the novel, we talk through the unfiltered motherhood moments that got us here: summer days with kids, the pool chaos, the snack drama, the exhaustion, and the tiny window of quiet that makes a virtual book club feel like self-care. If you’ve been looking for a book club for busy moms, a virtual reading community, or a podcast that feels like chatting with close friends, you’ll feel at home with us. Then we dig into our June pick, The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell. We unpack the hoarding storyline and how it reads like a family drama with subtle psychological suspense, from the sensory writing to the control and avoidance underneath the clutter. We also talk intergenerational trauma, sibling dynamics, enabling, and the shocking relationship twists that ripple through the entire family system. We close with how we each respond to trauma on the page, why some readers need lighter books in hard seasons, and what we’re reading next: The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros.  Subscribe, share this with a friend who loves book talk, and leave a review so more readers can find our book club. 73: Growth Feels Like Quicksand

Growth is supposed to feel empowering, so why does it sometimes feel like you are sinking? Tajuana jumps on the mic solo to name a feeling many of us have but rarely say out loud: you can be doing everything “right” and still feel stuck. When a hard conversation blows up or a familiar pattern shows up again, it is easy to decide none of the therapy, boundaries, or healing work is working. We slow that moment down and look at what progress actually looks like when there are no fireworks.  We get real about how self-awareness often arrives before your behaviour changes, and why that lag can be painful. Tajuana connects the dots with ADHD experiences like procrastination and chasing quick dopamine, then reframes growth as a series of tiny building blocks: the pause before you react, the shorter recovery after a bad day, the small boundary you finally hold, the habit shift you repeat until it becomes autopilot.  We also talk about the toughest part of personal growth and emotional healing: life does not pause. You are still working, parenting, paying bills, and dealing with people who may never notice how hard you are trying. This conversation is a reminder that your growth is your business, small wins count, and the “tests” along the way can be proof you are changing.  Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs it, and leave a review telling us what small win you are celebrating. 72: What If Boredom Is The Point

Your partner going back to work can hit harder than you expect, especially when you’re still postpartum and the baby is changing by the day. I’m Sheree, back with a solo check-in as we get ready for the end of paternity leave (for hubby) and I’m telling the truth about the emotions that come with it: I’m genuinely sad to lose the built-in support, and I’m also trying to feel strong enough to handle the next phase of maternity leave with two kids on my own...most of the week. From there, I get into the parenting topic that’s been living in my head lately: screen time with a preschooler while you’re caring for a newborn. I share why I aimed for minimal screens early on, what I’ve learned about overstimulation, and why pulling my daughter away from a device can be so hard. We talk about the real downside when kids get too locked in, like missing potty cues, hunger, and tiredness, and how that creates a bigger meltdown later. At the same time, I don’t villainize screens. I talk about using shows like Bluey and Gracie’s Corner in a way that supports learning, and I share an educational app we’ve been loving (Keiki) for tracing, numbers, hygiene play, and language growth. If you’re looking for practical screen-free activities, I’ve got you: arts and crafts, paint, toddler nail polish for a rainy moment, puzzles, gardening, cooking “shake, shake, shake”, dance parties, reading, audiobooks, and the undefeated option of water play. I also share how I’m trying to be less rigid, build screen-free chunks into the day, and slowly get back out into the world after a tough delivery, including my first attempt at driving myself to an acupuncture consult.  If any of this sounds like your house right now, listen along, share it with a friend who needs the reassurance, and leave a review so we can keep making episodes that feel like real life. 71: He Brought The Wawa Hoagie and Got Trauma (ft. Brandon Barber)

Labor is unpredictable, but we didn’t expect the aftermath to be the part that stuck with us most. Tajuana and Sheree sit down with Brandon, Sheree's hubby (and a very vocal newborn cameo) to unpack Bronson’s 28-hour birth story, from being stalled at three centimetres to a sudden shift where “hold on” is no longer an option. We talk coping tactics, what contractions feel like when time starts blurring, and why the “your second baby comes faster” promise can set you up for frustration. We also get real about hospital dynamics: epidural placement stress, too many people cycling through the room, and how quickly communication breaks down when you’re exhausted and in pain. Then we move into the postpartum complications, including concerns about placenta infection, painful fundal checks, and having to endure procedures while you’re still processing that you just gave birth. We name the emotional weight of feeling dismissed, the questions you end up googling later because nobody explains what’s happening, and what it’s like for a partner to watch it unfold from the sidelines. Finally, we zoom out to life with two kids and what “normal” looks like when you’re in the maternity leave bubble, juggling a toddler’s big feelings and a newborn’s needs. We lighten the mood with some zodiac talk, Sagittarius honesty, and the little marriage moments that keep you laughing when you’re running on fumes. If you’ve searched for real birth stories, postpartum recovery, hospital advocacy, or parenting two kids, this one is for you.  Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs it, and leave a review telling us what part hit closest to home. 70: Getting Diagnosed With ADHD Finally Explains My Whole Brain

“39 years later, my brain finally makes sense.” That’s the sentence I couldn’t stop saying after getting officially diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, and I’m sharing the whole messy, validating, honest experience from my point of view. If you’ve ever wondered why you try so hard yet still feel behind, or why small tasks can feel strangely heavy, you’re going to recognise yourself in this one. I talk about how ADHD can be missed when you’re the organised, responsible, rule-following kid who does well in school, the perfectionist who never causes trouble, the person who looks “fine” on the outside. We get into masking, people pleasing, procrastinating until panic becomes motivation, and the constant mental chatter that makes life feel like a browser with a million tabs open. I also share what changes and what doesn’t after diagnosis, including the grief and relief that can hit at the same time. Then we move into real-life support strategies for adult ADHD: paper planners, Google Calendar, notebooks, lists, and even systems to manage the systems. I explain why motherhood turned memory and time into a whole new game, plus the ADHD traits that show up daily for me like time blindness, working memory struggles, interrupting in conversation, executive functioning friction, and the need for a short buffer between work mode and mom mode. I also share what’s helping right now, from a structured scheduling app to focus aids like classical music and brown noise. If this resonates, listen all the way through and then come tell me your experience or your best resources.  Subscribe, share with a friend who needs the validation, and leave a review so more late-diagnosed listeners can find us.
