    Mark 8:34-38 | What Can You Give For Your Soul? | Alex Culpepper

    What is your life really worth—and what are you spending it on?  In Mark 8:34–38, Jesus challenges his disciples and the crowds with one of his most searching questions: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” Jesus frames discipleship in the language of profit, loss, value, and exchange. Following Him may come with a real cost—comfort, approval, status, security, and even our own plans. But Jesus insists that nothing we could gain in exchange is worth the loss of our psuchē—our life, our whole self.    The surprising good news behind Jesus' warning is this: you are extraordinarily valuable to God. You are too valuable to spend your life chasing things that can never ultimately preserve you. Jesus is the only one worthy of your whole life—and the only one who gave His whole self to redeem yours.  In this message from our Questions Jesus Asked series, we explore what it means to take up our cross, follow Jesus, and refuse to squander the life God has given us.  Don’t waste your life. Spend it on the One who gave His life to redeem yours.

    Mark 10:32-46 | Can You Drink This Cup? | Alex Culpepper

    Why does a good God allow suffering? And what does following Jesus mean when obedience actually costs us something?  In Mark 10:32–45, James and John approach Jesus dreaming about greatness and glory.  But Jesus responds with a surprising question:  “Are you able to drink the cup that I drink?” Behind that question is a powerful biblical image. Jesus is heading toward the cross, where he will willingly suffer in our place, bear the judgment of sin, and give his life as a ransom for many. And while Jesus drinks a cup for us that we could never drink ourselves, he also warns his disciples that following him will come with a cost.   In this message from our Questions Jesus Asked series, we explore: • What Jesus means by “the cup” • Why suffering is part of following Jesus • How the cross changes the way Christians understand suffering • Why Jesus’ Kingdom often looks upside-down to the world • How Jesus’ suffering gives us hope in the middle of our own  Jesus never promises that following him will keep us from suffering.  Instead, he enters into our suffering, suffers for us, defeats death through his resurrection, and promises that suffering will not have the final word.

    Matthew 20:20-28 | What Do You Want? | Don Romano?

    Jesus asks a question that reveals that motivations of the heart. In asking "What do you want" Jesus brings us to a place of acknowledging that we might be expecting something from him that he was never intending to provide. We all have various reasons for coming to Jesus, but Jesus' invitation to us is not that we would get from him what we want, but that we would first submit ourselves to God and then be able to receive the desires of our submitted hearts.    Jesus is in the business of bringing us under God's authority and changing us, not giving us what we want apart from the change.

    Matthew 14:22-33 | Why Did You Doubt? | Alex Culpepper

    Why did Peter doubt—even after walking on water? In this message from our Questions Jesus Asked series, we explore Jesus' question to Peter in Matthew 14:22–33: "Why did you doubt?" What if Jesus wasn't rebuking Peter, but inviting him into deeper faith? Together we'll discover: Why Jesus allowed the disciples to struggle through the storm. What Jesus was revealing by walking on the sea. The biblical meaning of doubt as being "double-minded." How fear competes with faith in our own lives. What it looks like to let Jesus redefine reality instead of letting our circumstances define it. Every trial reveals something about what we're trusting.     John 5:1-9 | Do You Want To Be Healed? | Don Romano

    Jesus asked questions as a way of helping people consider themselves in relation to what God is doing in the world. In this sermon, we investigate what Jesus was really asking the lame man when he said do you want to be healed. This was an invitation by Jesus into far more than simply physical healing. Jesus asked the man if he wanted to be made whole. And used the mans healing as an illustration of the wholeness he could bring to anyone who recognizes that they need someone to put their broken pieces back together.

    Luke 11:1-13 | Why A Father? | Alex Culpepper

    Life is full of unexpected speed bumps—moments that jolt us, slow us down, and force us to ask new questions about what we’re doing and where we’re headed. In this Father’s Day message from Luke 11:1–13, we look at one of the biggest “speed bumps” a disciple ever faced: watching Jesus pray and realizing, “That’s what we’re missing.”  Jesus responds with what we call the Lord’s Prayer, but instead of giving a formula to appease a distant God, he invites us into a relationship with a Father. We’ll see why the most important thing about prayer is not just who God is, but who he is to us—and how everything in Jesus’ ministry flows from his life with the Father.  Through personal stories, Jesus’ parables about a friend at midnight and a good father, and his call to ask, seek, and knock, this sermon explores how God uses life’s speed bumps to slow us down, reframe our assumptions, and draw us into a deeper, family relationship with him.
