Personal loss enters the room. Menopause shifts the chemistry of body and mood. Then comes the long, disorienting stretch of the pandemic, where time blurs and boundaries soften. In that environment, the “F*ck It” button becomes less of a moment and more of a setting.  A default. And then something important happens. Not externally, but internally. The reflection in the mirror stops matching the inner sense of self. That disconnect can feel more alarming than any outward consequence. It’s not about how much she was drinking.
