E P 10: Dealing With Year End Anxiety!

The last few months signalling the end of the year can be overwhelming with some people experiencing what is also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).  It’s no doubt that twelve months can be a roller coaster and having to pass through the numerous challenges you are faced with from work to family to other aspects of your general life all year round, can have you stressed and exhausted over time without you even realizing. There are several reasons why you might experience year-end anxiety or seasonal affective disorder (SAD). It’s very usual to feel sad and anxious about the end of something, think how it felt when you left high school, the University, started a new job or made a career change. As with beginnings, endings can come with a lot of anxiety. In between trying to track your goals for the year, hit set deadlines, wrap up your plans and get yourself ready and prepared for the new year, there’s a lot of emotions that follow these closing events. But it’s important to note that all the emotions you might feel from anxiety to depression, frustration or anger can be caused by persistently judging yourself, feeling like you are undeserving, imperfect or not good enough. Or perhaps you set certain goals to hit before the end of the year that you are yet to meet or you’ve been unable to break out of a habit you desperately wanted to OR that you’ve worked so hard yet achieved only very little. Another cause of year-end anxiety might be the high expectations from family and friends. The festivities come with a lot of overwhelming activities that can have you tired, exhausted, stressed and mentally drained.

EP 7: Matters Of The Heart: The Power Of INTENTION!

“Which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?” Luke 14:28 Destiny for many people is a mystery, especially as it concerns how we should live in regards to what God has planned for our lives. However, destiny goes beyond just what God has planned—it is about making decisions that are in sync with that plan. Too many live reactively rather than proactively.  We must become more proactive if we are to express God’s plan for our lives in such a way we impact our world as ambassadors of Christ. We each wrestle with what we should do, what’s right, who we should invite into our lives—how we should best manage, say, do any number of things. …which of you intending…  This is the Law of Intention. The word “intending” here is the Greek word thelo, which means “to will, to purpose, to determine, or to resolve.” When it comes to making quality decisions, these are resolutions—intentions you resolve to fulfill. Your future is an act of will, not an act of skill. Too often we say we don’t have the education or experience or expertise—we tell ourselves we lack the necessary skill. However, making a difference, doing something better, or being able to improve the quality of your life is not a skill, it’s an act of the will. People don’t have the future they dream of because they don’t put enough thought into it. They allow other people’s thoughts to determine where they are going. As you think in your heart, so you will be. What you think about yourself—what you believe is possible for you to become, do, or have—is exactly what you will be, do, or have for no other reason than these are your thoughts! (See Proverbs 23:7.) The verse from Luke goes on to say that only after counting the cost would a wise man build. The intention followed by thought therefore is proceeded by action. When it comes to your life, this is how destiny is birthed; it flows from these three dimensions: BLOGS | EMPOWERMENT THE POWER OF INTENTION June 11, 2018 “Which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?” Luke 14:28 Destiny for many people is a mystery, especially as it concerns how we should live in regards to what God has pl

EP 5: Matters Of The Heart: The POWER Of The Heart!

Matters of the heart affect us to our core, and they also produce effects that determine who we are and who we become. Take time to reflect and pause with a self-inventory. What state of condition is your heart in? Is it open and loving of all people? Matters of the heart are the most important things in our lives that move us deeply. They bring us joy and laughter, along with sadness and tears. They are things that touch our hearts, fill our hearts, and break our hearts. They are what make us fully human. Matters of the heart connect us to each other and to God. Matters of the Heart What really matters in life? What protects us from descent and strife? Things that stir and move our souls Our true character, they shape and mold Matters of the Heart are sent through prayer They are about love, compassion, and care They are when we love strong and deep They can lead us to cry and make us weep Heart matters cause us to attach and connect They give us insight and make us reflect Emotions and feelings are tightly bound to them Knowing these hurts with pain can condemn Heart matters can give us suffering from loss But we still continue to give our hearts no matter the cost Matters of the Heart make us stop and pause They are the solutions, not the cause The heart is our centering main life source Matters of the Heart are our driving force Tenderness and sensitivity are worn on the sleeves They hold us close, not wanting to leave Matters of the Heart make life worth living They can deplete us, but they keep us giving Matters of the Heart draw us to God, never to be alone Matters of the Heart always help us find our way back home "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 16:21 "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Proverbs 4:23 "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10

EP 4:Developing Your Character For The Sake Of Your Relationships...

It is very important that we understand the place of character in our relationships. Beauty and appearance attract a man or woman but character sustains the relationship, either friendship or courtship and even marriage. What is Character: character is not something that you buy, it is not a commodity that can be bartered for, it is not quality suited for only the rich and the famous, rather, Character is built upon the foundational commitment of love, honesty and compassion for others. Character is your identity, who you are, when no one is watching. How to build/Correct Character in a Relationship: There are few ways we can help our partner to build their character without making them feel less of themselves; A. The first thing is to acknowledge the need for change B. Seek the help of the holy spirit by praying for them and with them C. Correct them in love D. Do not correct them publicly as it could ruin their self-esteem E. Be patient with their pace of development F. Do not compare them to other people, nor your relationship with other people Kindly note that, once you have done all that you can do, and there are no changes, please know when to exit a toxic relationship, do not take the place of the holy spirit, only the holy spirit has the convicting power to change people, a broken relationship is better than a broken home. Never entertain what you cannot endure for a long period of time.
