What is a Jew?

Debra Cohen

Have you ever wondered, “What is a Jew?” I began asking that question in 1999, when I discovered that Jesus was Jewish. My search for answers continued for decades and eventually led me to Judaism. Today, with antisemitism and hatred of Jews so visible, I believe this question matters more than ever. Jews come from many backgrounds and have many different beliefs, experiences, and ways of living. No one person can speak for all Jews. Judging Jews as a group is stereotyping. It replaces real people with assumptions, and it is wrong. I hope you’ll join me in asking questions, & listen.
