    Episode 141: The Best Offer (2013)

    Welcome back to Film Haven Reveiws! This week we are finishing up our "Art Theft" theme with the only fictional movie in the group The Best Offer (2013).  This film was a big surprise for me. I was enraptured by the character building, the mix of genres like Erotic Thriller, Mystery, and Art Heist. There was romance and betrayal, crimes and coniving; what else could you want! I gave this film an 8/10 for the incredbile performance, excellent writing, and a awesome storyarch.     Episode 140: The Duke (2020)

    Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!! This week we are continuing our "Art Theft" theme with another movie based on a true story The Duke (2020) This film was very straight forward but covered a pretty wild true story about a cab driver who stole one of the most prized portraits in British history, The Duke of Wellington. The best part is the performances by Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren, and Mathew Goode, but I gave this film a 7/10 because it didn't have any extra flair creatively. It is a very "by the books" accounting of true events, and in that way its excellent, but it isn't more than that, which keeps it from being "great". But not all films need to be that!     Episode 139: American Animals (2018)

    Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!! This week we are starting a brand new theme of "art theft" films starting with the very insteresting American Animals (2018) This movie was extremely intersting especially because it was based on a real art heist perpetrated by a group of college students in Lexington Kentucky. I gave this film a 7.5/10 for successfully combining the documentary and drama genres together to create a realistic and fair portrayal of what heists and other crimes are like when alot of times they are portrayed as cool in movies and tv.  I also wanted to give a shoutout to Box Office Books for inspiring this theme!!     Movie Club: The Testament of Ann Lee (2025)

    Welcome back to the Film Haven Movie Club! This week Macy and Emily join me again to talk about the new unique musical The Testament of Ann Lee (2025) This is a fun episode because we had varying opinons on this film so we didn't all agree!     Episode 138: Waking Life (2001)

    Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!!! This week we are finishing up our "Inner World Surrealism" theme with the trippy and dreamy film Waking Life (2001)  This film is hyper unique and uses rotoscope technology so has a very other wordly feel which is perfect for the theme and it also brings in a lot of insights about life which are fun to chew on.     Episode 137: The Cell (2000)

    Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!!! This week we are continuing our "Inner World Surrealism" theme with the crazy sci-fi/true crime/horror film The Cell (2000)!  The Cell was certainly unique and had a great visual style, but it was also messy and the acting left some to be desired. I gave this film a 7.5/10 because the visual style was so unique and striking, but the lack of synergy between the disparate parts of the film make it hard for this film to get above the 8/10 range. I still highly recommend as you will never see another film like this and I truly appreciate Tarsem Singh's style!     Movie Club: Marty Supreme (2025)

    Welcome back to another episode of Film Haven Movie Club!!! This week I sit down with Macy and Emily to discuss our recent vewing of the Josh Safdie film Marty Supreme (2025) We really enjoyed this movie, especially its authenticity and Timothee Chalomet's performance! In the ep, we talk about Marty Supreme's character and whether he learned his lesson or not, and we also discuss the making of the film and the craft behind bringing 1950s NYC to life and how hard it was to film Table Tennis in action!

    Episode 136: The Fall (2006)

    Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!!! This week we are finally starting a brand new theme of "inner world surrealism" with the very surreal film The Fall (2006).  This was such a fun but emotionally enriching film, I had such a good (and heart wrenching time) with this. It's one of those films I want to recommend to everyone because it was so impactful to me, but be warned: get ready to cry. I gave this film an 8.5/10 for the insanse visuals, the perfect acting, and the incredible story writing.
