I created the Overcome podcast because there is so much light we don't see in life and in our trials. It seems that every time you turn on the TV, radio or social media you walk away thinking the world is over and you are alone. Being the parent of a daughter going through cancer during covid I know life can be tough. There were days I didn't know if I could make it through the hour, but I did and I learned many lessons along the way. This podcast is about changing your perspective, seeing the light and Overcoming. Together we will become stronger and find our purpose.

    The 500 Mile Trail in Spain

    The Camino de Santiago, or the Way of St. James is a 500 mile trail across Spain which began in the 9th century. Many have life changing experiences and this would be the case for Mjika and her father. Mjika became homesick and went home as her father continued the journey. The plan was for Mjika to return as they completed the experience together. When tragedy struck Mjika returned to finish the journey and spread her fathers ashes along the way. Listen as Mjika shares her story of perseverance, heartbreak and ultimately the joy of completion and people met along the way.

    This week I am in Texas as Ryan tells his story of joining the Army, becoming an Army Ranger and being shot at during a recon mission. He also tells of exiting the Army, being prohibited from getting back in and adjusting to life at home. One of my favorite quotes when asked how he endured the testing and hardships of life and war was he told himself "I'll Quit Tomorrow" then told himself the same thing the next day.

    Jordan played Basketball at Weber High School and went on to play in college. He later turned down a full ride basketball scholarship, changed schools and sports. He also had a life changing experience when Jordan and his girlfriend hit a car going 40 mph on a moped. In a comma, brain trauma and questions like "what happened to his girlfriend?" were on his mind but he couldn't talk. This is his story. It's the miracles and the events that helped shape Jordan's life into his current career, marriage and his perspectives on life.

    I have known Todd and Cassie since elementary school. We have some great memories together and they have always been great examples to me. Todd is an athlete and has continued playing football until recently. Cassie has been in plays, sings and teaches in her business called Singers Company.
