Welcome to Rock and Roll Flashback!  I'm Bill Price, and in this episode I will feature the multi-faceted rock artist Leon Russell, whose career spanned over sixty years and included several genres of music, which included country, gospel, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, southern rock folk, surf and rock and roll.  Claude Russell Bridges was born on April 2nd, 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He suffered an injury during birth that resulted in cerebral palsy that caused a slight paralysis in the right side of his body that affected three fingers on his right hand. This condition caused him to favor his left hand. He would later develop his dominant left hand piano playing technique. Also, he had a limp that was caused by the same condition.
