    27 - Wonder and Be Astounded! - Habakkuk 1:5

In this episode of the John 3:15 Podcast, the dudes reminisce about Christian liberal arts colleges, re-brand German Protestantism as “Luth-air-ianims” and dunk on some mega-church pastors. Also, they host a new guest: Donald Kimball, podcaster extraordinaire! Now, in addition to some cross-promo with Donald’s podcast “Cringe Post” (checkout Jeremy’s interview on their show: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4ThRUCbaQgmfSRB002jxse?si=c14756607cdc48a0), the guys also discuss a Habakkuk 1:5! On first reading, this verse seems to being some pretty great encouragement about God’s providence, but is that all that’s going on? Could the context of this verse, perhaps, provide some nuance? You may think you already know the answer, but Donald has an epic plot-twist planned for the guys: Jonathan didn’t see it coming! Buckle up for this roller-coaster of an episode! Links Cross-Promo! 26 - Part 2: Eye for an Eye - Exodus 21:24

In this episode of the John 3:15 Podcast--part 2 of 6-ish on politics and theology--the dudes name a violent beast of burden, dunk on the American prison industrial complex and leave the era of radio behind! That’s right, in addition to listening to their dulcet voices, you can now gaze upon the beautiful visages of Jonathan and Jeremy on their new youtube channel (see the link below) where video versions of each episode will be released! Don’t fear, though, audio versions of all the podcasts episodes will continue to be uploaded here on this RSS feed for all you commuter, distance runners, combine operators and visually-impaired listeners. With that announcement out of the way, the dudes also continue their series on theology and politics; in this episode they tackle the Old Testament law! In particular they look into the famous law “eye for an eye” passage. Did you know that the context of that verse is super wack? Does and eye for an eye really make the whole world blind, or did God actually know what He was talking about when he spoke to Moses? The dudes explain all in this episode! 25 - Part 1: Whoever Would Be First - Matthew 20:27

In this episode of the John 3:15 Podcast--part 1 of 6-ish on politics and theology--the dudes “reveal” their political leanings, call out “evanjellyfish” leaders on their bad hot takes and finally break the 2 hour podcast length (holy moley!). They say that, in polite company, you should never discuss religion or politics; well, I guess this podcast isn’t “polite company” ‘cause the guys tackle both! This is the first episode in a new series on politics, government, and theology. The guys start by taking a look at a famous saying of Jesus about his upside-down kingdom: Matthew 20:27, then use that as a springboard to do a slightly more topical overview of how the Bible asks us to think about authority structures. They revamp the “5 application points” as a few points of political consideration for the listening audience. At over 2 hours long, this is a biggie; hope you’re ready for a wild ride! First Note from the Editor: we are starting to look at some more sustainable ways to produce the podcast, given the rapidly growing number of children that Jeremy and Jonathan have. To that end, you may notice a slightly lower audio quality and also slightly less “tightly cut” dialog. Both of these are to save Jonathan time in edit, and he apologizes for any distress this may cause his audiophiliac listeners. Second Note from the Editor: This episode was recorded before the release of John Piper’s recent article on christian freedom vis a vis vaccination. So, if you are wondering why the guys don’t discuss it when they bring Piper up near the end of the episode, that is why.
