The Shake Up Podcast with Candice Harvey

Candice Harvey

Welcome to The Shake Up — your weekly dose of real talk with me, Performance Coach Candice Harvey. I’m a former corporate HR professional, and since 2018 I’ve been running my own shake-up business helping teams and individuals thrive.  I know Monday to Friday in the corporate world isn’t always cute outfits, hanging with your work bestie, and popping out real quick for a matcha—It’s more like surviving back-to-back meetings that should’ve been quick calls, dodging the people you can’t stand, and pretending you’re still productive by 3pm. Most of the time, we’re stuck in our own heads, running on autopilot, watching the clock and wondering why we can’t just do the damn thing we said we were going to do. That’s where me and my fancy rode mic come in. I’m here to shake you up — with straight-talking strategies, a smidge of humour, and my obsession with human behaviour in the workplace… because I get it, I did it for 15 years.   I’m a former corporate HR pro, and since 2018 I’ve been running my own shake-up business, helping teams and individuals go from “things are busy” to “things are GREAT!” So, if you’re ready for a nudge at work, a perspective shift, or maybe even a loving kick up the bum… you’re in the right place.

    109. Becoming Unoffendable

Send Candice a text! Being unoffendable is one of the most underrated superpowers you can develop - at work, at home, and in life. When you can hear feedback without taking it personally… When you can see criticism without spiraling… When someone says something blunt, weird, or challenging — and you pause instead of react… You gain clarity. You gain confidence. You gain control. In this episode, I’m unpacking why being unoffendable is key to emotional freedom, career growth, and resilience - and how to actually get there. This episode covers: • Why taking offense so easily keeps you stuck in interpretation instead of reality • How offendability silently stalls your career and limits growth opportunities • Why building resilience starts with learning not to be triggered • How unoffendable people regulate their emotions, grow faster, and are harder to manipulate • Two practical keys to becoming unoffendable: detaching self-worth from others’ opinions and welcoming (not avoiding) offense This isn’t about letting people walk over you. It’s about owning your emotional response, separating identity from behaviour, and not letting other people’s words control your life. 🎧 If this episode resonates, share it! 📲 Tag me @candiceharvey__ and tell me — what’s something that used to offend you, but no longer does? Go build tough skin. Go welcome perspective. Go be unoffendable - it’ll look good on you. And as always, shake things up.

    106. How To Work With Someone You Can't Stand

Send Candice a text! Ever worked with someone who drains you? Irritates you? Makes you question how they even got hired? Congratulations. You’re human!! ...and you might want this FREE DOWNLOADABLE IN YOUR HANDS!! We naturally gravitate towards people who think like us, move like us, communicate like us. And the friction? It usually comes from difference - different pace, different priorities, different styles. But here’s the shaker... Your biggest growth at work won’t come from finding your bestie. It will come from learning how to work well with people you don’t naturally click with. In this episode, we discuss: • Why career growth and influence come from adaptability - not just competence • How the DISC framework (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Conscientiousness) explains workplace friction • Why behaviour makes more sense - and feels less personal - when you understand communication styles • Practical ways to work more effectively with each DISC style (even the one that drives you bananas) • How expanding your range makes you more trusted, respected, and promotable This episode is your reminder that you don’t need to like everyone you work with - but you do need to learn how to work with them. Because the people who go far in their careers aren’t the ones with the least friction. They’re the ones who know how to move through it with skill and self-awareness. If you can work well with the person who tests you the most? You can work well with anyone. There’s also a FREE downloadable one-pager to help you apply this immediately - grab your copy here 🎧 If this episode resonated, share it. 📲 Screenshot, tag me @candiceharvey__, and tell me your DISC style (and the style of the person who challenges you most).

    102. What's Your Work Legacy? Why You Should Care About The Mark You're Leaving

Send Candice a text! From your very first job (yes — Hungry Jack’s counts) to the role you’re in right now… Have you ever stopped to think about what people actually say about you once you’ve left a team? In this episode, I invite you to reflect on your work legacy — the impact, reputation, and feeling you left behind long after the job title is gone. Because a work legacy isn’t about KPIs, spreadsheets, or how early you arrived. It’s about how you made people feel, the culture you contributed to, and whether you’re remembered as someone people genuinely miss… or not so much. In this episode, I explore: What a work legacy really is (and what it’s not)Why most people never think about the mark they’re leavingHonest reflections from my own corporate HR career (including some cringe moments)Why your legacy follows you long after you resign, get made redundant, or move onHow to Start Building Your Work Legacy in 2026This episode is a reminder that your work legacy isn’t a future problem — It’s a daily choice. If 2026 is the year you want to show up differently at work — more intentionally, more consciously, and with pride — this episode is for you. 🎧 Listen in, reflect honestly, and start leaving a mark you’re proud of.
