    Protect Pe’sla

Nick Tilsen, Founder & CEO of NDN Collective, sits down with Taylor Gunhammer, local organizer, to discuss the attack on Pe’sla, a sacred site for many tribes in the Black Hills region. Local company Pete Lien & Sons (PLS) will be doing exploratory drilling, looking for graphite. This drilling will destroy sacred land and risk contaminating the water that many in the region depend on. CALLS TO ACTION:  ☎️Call the Forest Service at (605) 343-1567 to demand they rescind the permit for Pe’sla drilling and the decision to grant a Categorical Exclusion (CE) for their exploratory drilling permit. They have no right to violate our rights, declare Indigenous culture an acceptable loss, cut us out of the process, or endanger the drinking water of thousands of people and Ellsworth Air force Base. Call the US Forest Service and tell them to leave Pe’sla alone!!  📱Text “SAVEPESLA” to 50302  ✍🏽Sign our petition: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/add-your-name-protect-sacred-site-pesla  SUPPORT OUR WORK: Help us continue this vital truth-telling media work, donate to NDN Collective's For the People. 💌 Campaign: https://ndnforthepeople.org  FOLLOW THE PODCAST: https://www.instagram.com/landbackforthepeople https://www.tiktok.com/@landbackforthepeople SUBSCRIBE AND CATCH UP ON THE LATEST EPISODES:  ▶️ YouTube: https://ndnco.cc/LBFTPyt  ▶️ Spotify: https://ndnco.cc/LBFTPs  ▶️ Apple Podcast: https://ndnco.cc/LPFTPa  ▶️ Audible: https://ndnco.cc/LBFTPad    EPISODE CREDITS: Featuring: Taylor GunhammerHost: Nick TilsenProducer: Willi White Studio Technician: Jerome Richard LeBeau Jr.Music: Mato Wayuhi Editor: Willi WhiteDigital Engagement: Angie Solloa PRESS & MEDIA: press@ndncollective.org  FOLLOW NDN COLLECTIVE: https://ndncollective.org https://www.instagram.com/ndncollectivehttps://www.linkedin.com/company/ndncollective/https://www.facebook.com/ndncol https://www.threads.net/@ndncollectivehttps://bsky.app/profile/ndncollective.bsky.socialhttps://www.tiktok.com/@ndncollective https://x.com/ndncollective Hosted on Acast. We’re back for season 4, and in this first episode, we get personal. As some of you may know, Nick Tilsen, Oglala Lakota, Founder & CEO of NDN Collective, is being brought to trial in Pennington County, South Dakota and will be fighting for his freedom.  ℹ️ You can learn more about Nick’s case here: https://ndnco.cc/tilsentrial2026  NDN Collective believes this case to be a politically motivated effort to silence a movement leader by criminalizing his actions and misusing the legal system. Ambler Road

To wrap our 2025 season, we're diving into what is happening in Alaska. How Indigenous people in Alaska are fighting to protect the ecological biodiversity, their subsistence rights, wildlife, and to keep minerals in the ground. Historically roads being built in Alaska have been the ways in which they've exploited the people and the land. One current project being proposed is Ambler Road, over 200 miles of road, in one of the most prescient lands in the world. We sat down with Ricko DeWilde, Diloola Erickson, Naawéiyaa Tagaban who've come all the way from Alaska to share their story of organizing and resistance to protect their way of life. LEARN MORE: Follow Instagram pages: @NoAmblerRoad @DefendtheSacredAK Sign the pledge to defend the arctic & join the emailing list to stay updated: https://www.defendthesacredalaska.org/ Shop the No Ambler Road bonfire campaign: https://www.bonfire.com/stop-the-ambler-road/ Donate to Defend the Sacred AK: Defend the Sacred Alaska SUPPORT OUR WORK: NDN Collective launched the "Feed The People" campaign in response to the SNAP benefits crisis. The U.S. Government shutdown is disrupting SNAP, deepening food insecurity in many Native and rural communities. The crisis is not just about hunger — it reflects the erosion of systems that once ensured community health and sovereignty of food sources. The "Feed the People" campaign is a call to action for funding mutual aid support in response to the disruption of SNAP in the Oceti Sakowin. While responding to the urgent needs of our community, we are also strengthening traditional food systems and collaborating with Indigenous-led projects focused on food sovereignty. ℹ️Learn more about the campaign: https://ndnco.cc/feedthepeople 💌 Contribute today: https://ndnco.cc/donatebison FOLLOW THE PODCAST: https://www.instagram.com/landbackforthepeople https://www.tiktok.com/@landbackforthepeople SUBSCRIBE AND CATCH UP ON THE LATEST EPISODES: ▶️ YouTube: https://ndnco.cc/LBFTPyt ▶️ Spotify: https://ndnco.cc/LBFTPs ▶️ Apple Podcast: https://ndnco.cc/LPFTPa ▶️ Audible: https://ndnco.cc/LBFTPad EPISODE CREDITS: Guests: Ricko DeWilde, Diloola Erickson, Naawéiyaa Tagaban Host: Nick Tilsen Executive Producer: Willi White Music: Mato Wayuhi Editor: Willi White Digital Engagement: Angie Solloa Production Support: Layne L. He Sapa LANDBACK

In this episode, we talk about LANDBACK in the Black Hills. The battle for the Black Hills is the longest legal battle over land in the American judicial system. In 1980, the Supreme Court ruled that the stealing of the Black Hills was one of the most gross violations of the Constitution in US history. Nick is joined by revered Lakota elders and spiritual leaders Richard Moves Camp and Robert Two Crow, as well as NDN Collective President Wizipan Little Elk Garriott and HeSapa LANDBACK organizer Anissa Martin to reflect and discuss He Sapa LANDBACK efforts. The POW!-er of Storytelling

Storytelling is the backbone of our movement. In this episode, Nick Tilsen sits down with writer and comedian Joey Clift to talk about how important it is to use narrative and storytelling as a mechanism to catalyse the LANDBACK movement, the power of modern-day representation, and Joey's upcoming short animation film, "Pow!." LEARN MORE: Pow! premieres 11/24 on FNX, watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOTuVqdwu8Y Pow! is an animated short film about Jake, a young Native American kid scrambling to charge his dying video game console at a bustling Coastal Salish intertribal powwow, where he learns that loving video games and loving your culture aren't mutually exclusive. Written and Directed by Joey Clift (Cowlitz), made by a largely Indigenous team and with an all-Native voice cast. Pow! is a comedic love letter to the communities that raised us. Joey Clift is a Los Angeles-based comedian, Emmy and Peabody-nominated writer, and an enrolled member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. Growing up, Joey aspired to become a local TV weatherperson because he didn't see Native American comedians on screen and thought a career in comedy was off-limits to him. He has since proven otherwise, writing for acclaimed series like Spirit Rangers (Netflix), Molly of Denali (PBS), and Paw Patrol (Nickelodeon). Joey is the creator of Gone Native, a Comedy Central Digital series about microaggressions Native folks often experience, and his comedy has been featured everywhere from Dropout to The Smithsonian Museum.
