Driving the Narrative: Women in Architecture | Rochelle Hill

Welcome to ‘Driving the Narrative: Women in Architecture’ a podcast by SB Architects. This series will narrate honest conversations with women in design and delve deeper into what it means to be a woman in architecture.    Jeanette Hoffman, Associate at SB Architects, will be your host. We're extremely excited to introduce you to this incredible series, where we have the honor of chatting with some of the biggest and best names in the business.    Today’s guest is Rochelle Hill, *Product Designer at Modulous. As an avid learner, Passive House enthusiast, and hydroplane racer, Rochelle brings, not only 35 years of industry experience to the table but the utmost flair. At her previous role at HKP Architects, she specialized in off-site construction, modular, pre-fabricated panels, Passive House, and high-performance buildings. She’s currently just broken ground on the new Mount Vernon Library Commons, which is a passive house library and parking structure for the City of Mount Vernon. *Note: Rochelle was working as a Project Manager at HKP Architects when we spoke, she has since moved on to work as a product designer for Modulous! Very exciting! Show Notes/Links: Rochelle Hill LinkedIn profile Lummi Tribal Project Images Notes from Rochelle "I'm not sure if I spoke about the collaboration between the architect, engineer, MEP, and myself as the modular designer. One of the ways we cut down on cost and broke down barriers was for me to produce the architectural and structural drawings as well as create the fabrication drawings and machine files for the production of the modules. I was sort of the DfM and drafter for the professionals who reviewed and then stamped my work for the permit, saving the tribe thousands of dollars, enough to make the project pencil out for them. It was by far a career-changing experience(that was 2008!) and something I continue to search for and champion throughout my career." Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
