Becky's so hot: Staying friends with exes

Since the dawn of time lesbians and their exes have come as a package, just like Fletcher and heartbreak songs. But have you ever wondered why that is, or what that might mean once you’re in a relationship, and your girlfriend’s best buddy turns out to be her ex? If that’s the case, look no further, as in today’s episode Casey and Lea ask (and try to answer) all those hard questions for you. Get ready for an episode taking you through the emotional rollercoaster of lesbian relationships (if you can't quite control that rollercoaster though, check the link below), and follow Lea and Casey’s validation workshop (you won’t be disappointed, we promise!). 4. Queer Sober Queens

    Queer Sober Queens

Warning: This episode is about sobriety, which in the interview you’ll hear will be linked to alcohol and substance misuse, and to difficult mental health topics. If this is not the right time for you to listen to this episode, feel free to skip it, or to come back to it when the time is right. Another day, another interview, although this time the topic we have chosen is a slightly trickier one: the intersection between queerness and addiction, particularly when it comes to alcohol. To help us unpack this, Casey and Lea are joined by Mathilda, who tells us her sobriety story and compares it with Lea’s throughout the episode. After sharing their experiences, Mathilda and Lea offer us some valuable insight into the deeper links between queerness and addiction, and some tips about how friends and loved ones can help support sober queers, ending the episode on a positive note. To add to those final positive vibes, Lea shares yet another fabulous pick-up line: listen until the end of the episode to find out what she’s come up with this time! Outline 00:00 – 07:00 – Gay day check-in and topic intro: being queer and sober 07:01 – 11:44 – Shared stories: Mathilda and Lea’s friendship 11:45 – 27:52 – Comparing perspectives: Mathilda’s and Lea’s stories 27:53 – 39:01 – Getting better: how can programs help, and where does queerness come into play? 39:02 – 50:53 – Enriching experiences and relationships while sober 50:54 – 57:09 – How can friends and loved ones support sober queers? 57:10 – 01:00:06 – Lea’s pick-up line and outro ResourcesDrink Aware Alcoholics Anonymous Al Anon – Help for friends and family of alcoholics Credits Co-hosts: Casey, Lea Guest: Matilda Producers: Elle, Maria Song: ‘Free the Nip’ by MuMu Podcast logo designed by Laure Find us on Instagram | Send us an email at dykalicious.podcast@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. Celery snacks & itchy vaginas: An interview with Kirsty Loehr

Temple keepers, celery eaters, pubic hair hoarders: lesbians can really do it all. If you want to find out what else they can do, make sure to listen to today’s episode, as Lea and Casey interview author Kirsty Loehr, and ask her more about the fabulous figures featured in her book A Short History of Queer Women. After stressing the importance of preserving and talking about queer history, Kirsty shares more (spicy) details about questionable boob lovers like Marie-Antoinette, and bona fide lesbians like Anne Lister, Emily Brontë, and many more. And if you’d like a little extra book-based humour, don’t forget to keep an ear out at the end of the episode for Lea’s usual pick-up line, the first of many more for our new season! Queer journeys to parenthood

We all know that the lesbian urge to DIY is particularly strong, from building furniture using your very own set of tools to building a family using kitchen utensils (yes, we are talking about turkey basters!). If you have ever wondered about the actual dynamics of starting a queer family, you’ll hopefully find some answers in today’s episode, as Casey, Lea and Sarah, our guest for the day, discuss fertility journeys and the lesbian biological clock. After sharing how they feel about wanting to build their own family, our three speakers focus more closely on the options available to lesbian couples when considering fertility journeys. They then look at the intricacies linked to lesbian couples having babies, concentrating on the many legal and social challenges these families have to face. As you might suspect, what definitely wasn’t a challenge was for Lea to find yet another pick-up line to end this episode, so make sure you listen until the very end to find out what she came up with this time!
