Episode 103: Praveen & Chris What Happens When The Great Commission Belongs To Everyone

Send us Fan Mail It’s hard to stay unmoved when someone tells you they launched a Great Commission vision with 37 rupees in the bank and still chose to obey. Brittany sits down with Joyce from To Every People and South Asia leaders Praveen and Chris to share what God is doing through a disciple making movement that’s reaching unreached people groups with the gospel and forming healthy, multiplying churches. We talk about calling and legacy, from a youth camp moment at age 14 to a region wide mission focused on “no gospel to gospel, no Bible in hand to Bible in hand, no church to church.” Praveen shares what changed when he stopped asking why only a few people share their faith and started believing that anyone can make disciples. Along the way, we unpack how people discern God’s voice through Scripture, trusted mentors, and the kind of door opening only God can arrange. Then the stories turn raw and real. You’ll hear firsthand accounts of persecution, house churches under threat, and a church planter who returns to the very village where he was beaten, only to see 25 homes choose Jesus and celebrate baptisms in a river. Chris also shares how women’s networks, child discipleship centres, and practical skill programs like jewelry making and sewing create dignity, community, and natural pathways for evangelism. Episode 102: Explaining the Four Fields with Heather

Send us Fan Mail A village with no church. A gymnasium with no heat. Two continents in one summer. And a disciple making framework so simple it can spread like wildfire. We sit down with Heather Austin to unpack Four Fields, a practical approach to living out the Great Commission through four repeatable “fields” of ministry: go, share the gospel, grow disciples, and gather as church. Heather shares what she witnessed in Masinja Village, Malawi, where local men and women were trained and then empowered to lead, serve, and continue baptisms and Bible studies without outside help. We talk through what it looks like to model healthy church elements in a new context, why local ownership matters, and how obedience often moves faster than our plans. Then we jump to Santa Rosa in Cordoba, Argentina with Juntos Ministry, where 250 young adults receive training and immediately apply it through outreach in five communities. Heather explains the 411 gospel conversations, the Three Circles tool, the 15 second testimony, prayer walking, and the oikos map, plus how Discovery Bible Study keeps growth simple and Spirit led. One week ends with 130 people choosing Christ and a new church starting in a home, reminding us that church can begin around a kitchen table. If you feel stuck, curious, or intimidated by evangelism, this conversation is for you. Episode 101: A Youth Mission Trip To Mexico Leaves A Lifelong Mark with Shayne

Send us Fan Mail A full-grown shark dragged behind a tiny boat is not the first image most people associate with Christian missions, but it is the kind of detail that stays with you when you have actually been there. We sit down with Shane, a longtime member with a deep heart for Mexico missions, and trace the story from an early youth mission trip in the 1990s at Playa Baghdad to the present-day trips our church runs in and around Cancun. We talk about why short-term mission trips can form faith in a way sermons and books cannot: you get uncomfortable, you rely on God in real time, and you discover how small your “normal” world can become. Shane shares what it is like to return as a parent and watch his kids serve with joy, mix concrete by hand, connect with local children, and come home changed. We also unpack the value of long-term church partnership, including work with churches like Milagro and ministries like Kingdom Academy, and why good planning helps teams show up where they are truly needed. Along the way, we highlight something simple but powerful: love does not need perfect Spanish. Real relationships form with pastors and leaders like Alex, Victor, and Oso, and those friendships continue long after the plane ride home through prayer, updates, and everyday life shared across borders. Episode 100: Celebrating 100 Episodes Of Missions Stories And Purpose

Send us Fan Mail 100 episodes sounds like a number, but to us it feels like a shelf full of stories. Brittany and I hit record to celebrate the hundredth milestone for the FBC Missions Sew That Mission Podcast, and we use the moment to remember why we started: to document what God is doing through regular people and to invite our church family to step into it with courage and joy. We talk through what we’ve learned across dozens of conversations, from local ministry leaders to mission partners around the world, and we even peek at the podcast stats, the most-downloaded episodes, and where listeners tune in most often. We also share a few personal favorites, including interviews that surprised us, moved us, and reminded us that God is still forming disciples in every season of life, from kids and teens to seasoned teachers and mission leaders. The deeper thread is purpose. We reflect on how the Perspectives course has shaped our mindset and why the Great Commission is ultimately about making disciples, not just collecting decisions. Then we anchor the “why” in Scripture, especially Psalm 67 and its overlooked line: God blesses his people so that his ways may be known on earth and his salvation among all nations. That “so that” changes how we see time, money, comfort, and calling, because blessing is meant to move through us, even when it costs us something. If these stories have encouraged you, help us put them in front of more people. Subscribe, share this episode with a friend, and leave a review so the next listener can find their place in God’s mission too. Episode 99: How A Village School Sparked A Gospel Movement In Malawi

Send us Fan Mail A village where people once had never heard the name of Jesus is now leading its own church and it’s not because outsiders “did everything.” Brittany sits down with Lori Rogers fresh from her second Malawi mission trip to unpack what God is doing through Divine Mission Ministry in Misinja (Misinga) Village, and why this kind of growth happens when local believers are equipped to lead from the start. We talk about the reality of long travel, the joy of being welcomed by a whole community, and the surprising ways simple obedience reshapes a place.  We also get practical about how First Baptist Church Boerne partners in global missions. Lori explains what it means for a ministry to become an FBC missions partner, how funding and support work, and why a church’s steady giving and prayer can strengthen both humanitarian care and gospel advance. Along the way we share updates on the school, feeding efforts, sustainability projects like pig farming, fencing land for maize and rice, and a dental clinic running at the same time as training.  The heart of our conversation is Four Fields training and disciple making. Lori breaks down how new believers learn to share the gospel, form simple churches, and multiply disciples who make disciples. We celebrate powerful baptisms and the confidence that grows when people step into obedience immediately. Then we look ahead to a bold next step: reaching the Yao people group, a primarily Muslim unreached community, through relationships, local leadership, and a clear plan for next year.  If this story stirs something in you, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find it. Episode 98: First-Time Youth Missions In The Yucatan with Andrea, Sloan, and Henley

Send us Fan Mail A mission trip rarely starts with confidence. It starts with a question you can’t shake, a nudge from a friend, and a decision to put your yes on the table even while your stomach is doing flips. We’re joined by Andrea (our associate youth minister) plus Sloan and Henley, two students who just took their first trip to the Yucatan near Cancun, Mexico and came home changed. We talk about what it actually feels like to say yes when you don’t know everyone going, don’t speak Spanish, and can’t fully picture what you’ll be asked to do. Then we get specific: serving alongside long-term missionaries and local pastors connected with YWAM, encouraging families through home visits and prayer, supporting Kingdom Academy, and stepping into real work that ranges from planting trees to building sidewalks. Andrea also explains the “god-sized” Noah’s Ark project, a long-range vision that includes a clinic, a church, and housing designed to support foster children and families. The most powerful moments aren’t just the tasks, though. We share how worship in two languages reshaped our perspective on struggle, how vulnerability around a circle helped every voice matter, and why short-term missions works best when we show up to come alongside rather than arrive as fixers. If you’ve been on the fence about missions, this conversation gives you an honest look at the fear, the joy, and the faith on the other side. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a push to say yes, and leave a review so more people can find these stories of God at work. Episode 97: My Passport, The Jungle Bugs, And A Sidewalk For Jesus

Send us Fan Mail Fear can be loud, especially when you’re a teenager getting on a plane, heading into a new culture, and realizing you can’t control the details. Brittany sits down with her daughter Libby to tell the full story of two Mexico mission trips and the unexpected ways God used discomfort, schedule changes, language barriers, and even a sweaty bus ride to build courage and faith. We share what serving in Cancun and the Yucatán region actually looked like beyond the tourist image: jungle heat, big bugs, rainstorms, and hard work alongside local leaders building long-term hope through projects like an orphanage, school, and medical care. Libby opens up about confronting her own materialism, learning that “blessing” isn’t about what you own, and discovering the kind of joy that comes from acts of service and worship in the middle of exhaustion. The most powerful moment comes when Libby connects her adoption story to the gospel message of the Heavenly Father. Speaking to students who know the pain of absent dads, she explains how identity and peace are found in God’s love, not in a missing or broken earthly relationship. We also talk candidly as a mom and daughter about church hurt, prayer, and why every kid has to find God for themselves. If you’ve ever wondered whether a youth mission trip can really change a heart, press play. Episode 96: Business Skills For Gospel Impact In The 10/40 Window PT2

Send us Fan Mail Church in a living room. Pastors with no building, no staff, and often no safe way to gather publicly. Now add one more question that changes everything: how do you shepherd people and provide for your family at the same time? That tension is exactly why we sat down with Mike for part two of our conversation on Business as Missions (BAM) and the work unfolding in India. We talk through what BAM really means on the ground: not a side hustle, not a shortcut, and not “business instead of ministry,” but a sustainable strategy that strengthens local house churches and supports gospel multiplication. Mike explains why India became our early footprint for BAM, what house church growth looks like in Hindu and Muslim contexts, and why believers in some regions must meet carefully in small groups. You will hear how entire families often come to faith together, and how that sparks rapid discipleship and new churches that start in ordinary homes. Mike also breaks down the actual training he teaches: discernment around calling, honest assessment of skills, market research, SWOT analysis, and a simple Business Model Canvas that helps pastors plan operations, budgeting, and basic financial tracking like a monthly profit and loss statement. Along the way, we share real stories from the field, including a barber preparing to launch with integrity and a small transport business that grew through smarter services. If you have business experience, leadership background, or practical skills you think are “just normal,” this conversation will challenge that assumption. Subscribe, share this with a friend who loves missions and entrepreneurship, and leave a review so more people can find the show.
