Tackle and Tacos - A Fishing Podcast

We love fishing. We love tacos. That pretty much sums it up. We may not be the best anglers, but we may just be the best taco eaters on earth. Hosted by Nate, Lola and Jordan, we're gonna talk probably 75% fishing, 23% tacos and an undetermined amount of nonsense. One thing we can promise; this won't be just another fishing podcast, and we won't be anything but real. The show won't be edited, and we will indeed be having more fun than we should be allowed to! Proud to be apart of the Working Class Bowhunter Podcast network, new episodes will drop every Taco Tuesday.

HOW TO Develop Fishing Consistency w/ Bob Downey! - Episode 154

This week we're sitting down with Bob Downey, a pro bass angler out of Minnesota who's built a career on doing the boring things right, over and over again. If you've ever wondered why some anglers seem to catch fish no matter the conditions while the rest of us feel like we're rolling dice every time we hit the water — this episode is for you. Bob breaks down what consistency actually looks like at the tournament level, and it's not some secret bait or magic lure. It's a mindset, a process, and a willingness to trust your gut even when the leaderboard says otherwise. We get into the weeds on flipping wood — how to read cover, when to commit, and why patience around timber separates the anglers who catch a few fish from the ones who catch a limit. But the real gold in this one is the mental side of the game. Bob opens up about how he manages pressure, resets after a bad stretch, and stays locked in over a long tournament day. Whether you're chasing a check on the pro circuit or just trying to have a better day on your home lake, there's something here for you. 🎙️ In this episode: What "consistency" really means for a tournament angler Flipping wood: technique, timing, and confidence Managing the mental grind of competitive fishing Knowing your process and trusting it Bob Downey Facebook: @bobdowneyfishing Instagram: @bobdowney_ YouTube: Bob Downey Fishing 🔗 Connect with us: Website: tackleandtacos.com Instagram: @tackleandtacos Facebook: @tackleandtacos YouTube: @tackleandtacos 🙏 Thanks to our sponsors: Grizzly Coolers — grizzlycoolers.com - CODE WCB = 15% off Leupold Optics — leupold.com Denali Fishing — denalifishing.com Moldy's Marine — moldysmarine.com Northland Insurance Services — northlandinsuranceservices.com Positivity is worth the effort! "Evinrude" is Latin for Dogsh*t - Before & After & After - Chippewa Flowage - Episode 152

Sometimes a fishing derby doesn't go the way you planned. Actually, sometimes nothing goes the way you planned — especially when you're running an Evinrude that decides to play Russian roulette with your confidence. Worthless isn't really a strong enough word for that motor. We're diving into two days of the Chippewa Flowage solo derby, and yeah, there's some real frustration baked into this one. Day one had Jordan grinding as a Boater alongside a solid fishing partner that he didn't know he was gonna have in the boat until that morning, but the real story? That Evinrude. You know the one. The one that drops RPM on pad, shuts off, fires back up, shuts off again, and then — after enough cycles of rage-fueled troubleshooting — just decides it's done with you. Completely done. Won't start. Won't even pretend to cooperate. It's the kind of motor drama that'll test your patience faster than a full moon bite. But here's the thing: fishing is still fishing, and fun found a way in anyway. Day two brought an unexpected turn when Jordan, fishing as a non-boater, got in the Triton with Brian Beebe, and that's where the energy shifted. Fresh perspective, different approach, and a reminder that sometimes the best derby moments aren't about dominating the leaderboard — they're about who's sitting next to you and what you're learning together. 🎣 Powered by Grizzly Coolers — Keep it cold, keep it fresh.Leupold Optics — See what matters.Denali Fishing — Built tough, fished hard.Moldy's Marine — Your tackle, your way.Northland Insurance Services (Rice Lake, WI) — Because life happens. 🎙️ Catch more at tackleandtacos.com, and follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube @tackleandtacos. Giant Bass, Trailer Troubles & Tacos with Capt. Andrew Full | Ep. 151

Episode 151 is one of those conversations that just flows. Captain Andrew Full of Full Fishing Guide Service out of Western New York joins the show for the 3rd time, and it didn't take long before we were deep into the stuff that actually matters — baits, big bass, and the kind of honest talk you don't always get on a fishing podcast. Andrew breaks down his approach to guiding for giants on Lake Erie and the Great Lakes system, what he's been throwing, and why some of the most overlooked baits are the ones putting fish in the boat. We also get into his decision to part ways with the Serious Angler Podcast — no drama, just real talk about where he's headed next. 🎣 On the Water Cap'n Full's guiding philosophy, targeting trophy Smallmouth and Largemouth, tournament techniques, and what it actually takes to put clients on fish of a lifetime. 🗣️ Real Talk Why Andy moved on from Serious Angler, what's next for him, and why going independent might be the best move he's made. 🌮 Off the Water Tacos, espresso, Nate's trailer issues, and Jordan somehow losing an absolute giant — it's the chaos we thrive on. Whether you're chasing giants yourself or just love hearing from someone who lives and breathes big bass fishing, this one's for you.
