Coiled IV Tubing: An Easy Solution to Avoid Frustration and Unsafe Practices

In This Episodes... On this episode of Tdc, host Brett Deister welcomes Dr. Chris Walters, an anesthesiologist who has brought several inventions to the medical device market. Dr. Walters specializes in surgeries including total joints, shoulders, knees, hips, traumatic ortho, and vascular procedures. An issue with anesthesia is “IV spaghetti,” tangled IV tubings, which can lead to safety risks. However, Dr. Walters has developed a solution to the problem - the Cobra coil Codan. This new IV tubing is designed to be compacted and stretched out as needed, reducing the chance of tangling or contamination. The coil also keeps equipment visible and accessible, which makes it easier to deliver IV infusions and medications effectively. The device can be used in emergency situations such as ambulances or life flight helicopter crews. There is a broad range of uses in the medical field where IV infusions and medications are administered. Proper organization and routine are key to keeping patients safe.
